someone gave me Heart of a Dog ten years ago, and I never got past the first chapter. I don't really like to read books in a translation that isn't my native language.

Will pick it up again.

It is really funny, a cruel satire on early communist society. The time itself, the transition period between monarchy and communism in Russia, is interesting too.

better than i was expecting

too often amerindian histories gets bogged down in anthro theory or serve as platforms for an author's criticism against such-and-such government policy, but this is way more biographic
