Does anyone know if FW is planning to bring out a lined type 1 version this season? I was looking at the previous one with the flannel lining and think it’s really nice. Would be a perfect addition for the colder months.

I’m sure it will be fine! It will probably be cotton stitching so not as durable as ringspun or poly threads but I have never had any major problems with cotton stitched repro’s from other brands. Even vintage pairs hold up pretty well.

@obama I haven’t owned any CSF items before but I do own a couple of vintage 501’s and I can say that those imperfections are probably meant to replicate real vintage. As far as I can see this pair you have has a reference to late 60’s models (because of the double row stitching on the waistband at the button instead of a V stitch). The pairs that I have from that era all have imperfections like yours, some less some more. Personally I appreciate them, as long as the seam integrity is good ofcourse. Nice jeans!

This might have been asked before but how do you guys condition the leather patches of your jeans and jackets? There are so many products available and I have no idea where to start. I prefer 100% natural products. And has anyone had experience with the conditioned leather patch on a jacket rubbing off on the clothing underneath?

@Broark Thanks. I’ll keep them and see if a hot wash can shrink it a little. Definitely need to wear a belt or else they fall down. But a very interesting cut which tapers a little and with this size it’s pretty laid back comfortable. Here are some fit pics. Sorry about the birks and socks.

I just received my M-1941 chino and as said before they do size a little generous. Got the same size as you, 36 waist in camel. Did you get much shrinkage out of them in the first washes?

@Broark I’m liking those utility trousers in deck cloth. Looked them up online and it looks like a very thin cord-like fabric? How is the weight on them? Fabric looks thick and strong.

@Duke Mantee Guess you are right about that. It also depends how much you stretch it out for example for the chest measurement, can definitely make a few cm’s difference. Anyway, thanks for reflecting on this. Have so say, I’m really getting into the FW stuff. Impressed by the jacket so far. Also in the market for the 601 47 jean and an m-1941 chino. I only wear denim tops and bottoms lately and I’m in desperate need of another look other than blue, lol.

Wow that’s really annoying it’s so inconsistent. Guess the best thing to do is to ask the shops to measure the specific piece and send photos. Usually they are very helpful I’ve experienced. Indeed a one wash. I’ll handwash cold from here so good to know it will not really shrink anymore. Was surprised by the weight of the jacket as well. Quite hefty, more so than other jackets I have and had it seems.

On another note, I just got the 506xx 1946 jacket. My first FW garment. Pretty impressed by the details. Very nice jacket and this is the first repro I’ve handled that actually feels ‘vintage’ with all the details. I do have a question though, above shrinkage is discussed. This is a size 48 which come in at around 61 cm across the chest. Strange thing is when I look at the measurements from Speedway Sendai they say the size 46 is 63 cm across the chest. Ideally I need a little more than 61 cm, but if this jacket doesn’t shrink anymore it’s ok I guess. I got this one from Mirrorball and they specify 61 cm in the chest so that equals what I measure. But it is strange the measurements are so different. [/img] [/img]

@Talan Thanks that helps! Yeah I contacted Hoosier and he had a size 38 left in raw. Might try that one. In fact I like that I can do the shrinking, as I did with the WH. Very helpful, Hoosier by the way!

I need some sizing advice on the 601 1947. I have a WH 1001xx heavy ounce in a size 38 which came raw and fit me perfectly now after maybe 3-4 washes. Waist measures 45 cm across which seems to be the sweet spot for me. I found the raw version of the 601 1947 in waist 38 online. The one wash version seems to be sold out at the moment. The raw version W38 measures 50 cm across. Can I expect it to shrink 10% to come in at 45 cm after a few washes? Does anyone own a 601 1947 in W38 or W36 and care to measure them? The measurements online for the one wash seem to vary quite a bit so I’m unsure to go for W38 or W36.

@AlientoyWorkmachine You’re probably right there. To me it’s an essential part of a good repro garment. Others might not care so much. I remember I had an LVC sack coat which had pretty nice fabric but horrible hardware and even uglier cheap poly threads. It really degraded the garment as a whole. Guess I just have to keep asking the shops and manufacturers for the info. ‘Ah, there’s that guy again asking about cotton threads’.

Thanks! I also emailed Mirror Ball in Japan to verify and waiting for their answer. I emailed them before on the FW 1946 506xx jacket I got. They first said all is cotton except the buttonholes which are poly cotton for durability, but later they got back to me and said they checked with Freewheelers and confirmed the buttonholes are also 100% cotton. It's interesting why this is not specified in descriptions. Some websites are extremely detailed in describing details (which probably is the info the manufacturer gave) but almost never the type of sewing thread is mentioned. Maybe they take it as a logical thing being 100% cotton for a repro brand? I had an issue before with some Real McCoys articles. It was said to me the Blue Seal chino uses 100% cotton stitching but upon arrival it was clear that the waistband was sewn with poly threads, the other threads were cotton. Their Sawtooth western was also said to be cotton thread sewing - even directly by the Real McCoy manufacturer - but when I inspected it I had very strong doubts. More likely a poly cotton. There was a loose thread and I did the burn test, didn't burn like cotton but like poly. Ah well, what can I say. It's been a journey.

@Broark The 504xx looks great, and indeed shrank perfectly for you. Here's the age old question again since none of the retailers specify this (as with most garments unfortunately). You know if the sewing is done with 100% cotton threads?

@indigoeagle Thanks! Unfortunately no size 38 and the eventually shipped and taxed product to Europe would be almost double the price of what you’d normally pay here locally.

@tjsma Thanks. I might try the FW 1941 since I don’t expect the WH 1082 to be available anytime soon. Do you know if the FW are 100% cotton stitched? I know the WH are.

This might be a long shot, but does anyone know if there is an online store stocking the Warehouse 1082 in beige size 38? I have looked far and wide and didn’t find anything. I emailed Warehouse and they said they are not planning a restock soon. I’m debating that one or the Freewheelers M-1941 chino. Only thinking the FW is a little too tapered for my liking and it seems like that one has a very high back rise.
