  1. I don't own a lot from TCB but their sizing through a catalogue in general has struck me as quite mysterious - and it's the main reason I haven't bought much - I would only ever go stuff I feel comfortable oversizing (my only purchase from them was a pair of 20's and black 30's - both oversized on purpose, both came in just a touch smaller than anticipated - so it all worked out). It's almost as if they base their sizing off the garment they are reproducing and start from square one with every piece, rather than try to reproduce similar fits they've made prior.
  2. I just go by the website in particular. Any store demonstrates the way they get their measurements. The big thing for me is if the thigh is measure directly at crotch seam or like 10 cm down. Most seem to do the waist as lay flat x2.
  3. This is, or rather, mostly was my field - I do hope to return to it a bit more at some point (though I couldn't hope to make work like those above). A living is still nearly impossible for most people doing most of the important work like this. It's not really so different from trying to be a poet or a painter. The people who make work generally string together some assemblage of jobs that go directly against the mission they have in their pictures, or they have other good fortune in life. Thatcher and Reagan were terrible for the middle class. Reagan was quite literally demented for most of his presidency, anyways. We are still struggling with his legacy today. I am grateful for each and every person who sets out to do this work anyways, the world would be much poorer without it, even as the photographers generally already are. @Double 0 Soul The one thing I collect (intentionally - as opposed to jeans, which I try not to) is photo books - looks like the Cohen one you have there is a bit pricey these days. I thought I might pick up a cheap used copy, but that won't happen. A quick search says I can't even track down Murtha's books. I will keep an eye out.
  4. I mean the magic of the cinch (for me) is that unless you way overshoot the size, a belt isn't really necessary.
  5. I was pleased to see one of the greatest living American artists in general to be wearing a fresh type 2 recently. https://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/news-photo/andre-3000-attends-the-gq-men-of-the-year-party-2023-vip-news-photo/1798190093?adppopup=true Can anyone identify?
  6. @AnOldFolkSong I’ll get around to it at some point. Still not worth it. Yours have definitely had a rougher 4 months than mine. I’m in a Fellowship year at the university and these are my unofficial fellowship jeans, so not exactly physically hard wearing, they’re only just starting to get some character and barely. Also, only 2 hand washes and hang dries.
  7. Nah. Sleep on it for 4-6 months. This is a time when the whole world wants you to buy stuff you don’t need, and tries to convince you otherwise.
  8. ^ those look good. How long have you been wearing? Mine have 2 hand washes at this point but are far from this. Granted I’m only about 4-5 months in, still they seem to be on the slower side. It’s such a great fabric though.
  9. You might check Brut paris. You'll probably the cuts better too.
  10. ^haha - I’d never heard of them before. But, I’ve got no reason to go for them - not being in a care industry. Wouldn’t blame anyone if they did, but those a bridge too far for me. I’ve spent more time than I care to admit in a hospital this year because of my son, and will confirm I’ve seen more than a few pairs of Bostons on amongst brain surgeons etc.
  11. Eh. I've put thousands of miles in on roads and trails over the years and while I do agree Nike runners are comfortable, nothing is happier for my feet than birkenstocks - a pair that's been somewhat broken in, that is. I'd be wearing nike runners (instead of birks) most days if that weren't the case, because there's not a pair of birks that I put on for looks. I cringe a little bit at the look every time I step into my londons or my bostons but once they're on it's basically the next best thing over barefoot. If I'm wearing sneakers I still think skate/court shoes will look better than runners with jeans any day though, unless you're Seinfeld.
  12. Eh, for the last 20 years it's basically Nike 😃
  13. Glad to see I spurred you on haha.
  14. Ooh I am tempted. Raw size is nice for me.
  15. I like dark red alone better, but I imagine the khaki is gonna give more wear options in real life - and is going to look better with any jean worn under a year. They're not that different and if it were me I'd get the khaki for the sole reason that most of my jackets are dark already.
  16. Not sure which ones you're referring to - lots of them have the option to toggle between the two though. Could be something as simple as a cookie that remembered your last settings. Or not.
  17. I recently picked up the SC blanket lined type 2 and the thing I miss most on it is the dome backed rivets. Historical accuracy be damned they are great and all denim should have those. Mostly I wear FW or Tender jackets. I like Tender's rivets using them on the outside as well.
  18. Sorry to hear that too. Hope something better comes along asap.
  19. lol. for me FC is pretty true to size, or, in comparison to jeans with similar rises - a little smaller than warehouse or sugar cane, about the same as freewheelers.
  20. As a start, you can blame the cat owners who let them outside for playing a not insignificant role in the declining bird populations. ☺️
  21. @Double 0 Soul you’re more tolerant than I. I was first chased down and bitten by an off leash dog as a kid. It wasn’t a pit. It’s happened throughout my life since, thankfully I haven’t had a hospital trip - I honestly do not know how. But these things are a constant threat. And weirdly for me, it’s generally not been the pit/mixes. My two year old niece has permanent facial scarring and almost lost sight and vision because of dog bites. She was not spared a hospital trip. From an off leash dog that “never does this.” My sister was spared a hospital trip - only because she was attacked in winter with a thick coat on. For both of them, it was pit/mixes. When I am out running, esp if my son is in the stroller, and I see the dog off leash, I don’t care how nice you think your dog is, you are not meeting a happy version of ol’ Alien here. Dogs are animals. Wonderful ones and all maybe if you know them, but I don’t know your that leash dog and given the situation I trust neither the owner nor the dog now. Peak entitlement.
  22. I have no love for owners who let their dogs off leash in public areas. I’m a runner and have been chased (and caught) more times than I can count. Most recently just about 8 weeks ago - thankfully that one chose not to bite me as I stood like a tree trunk. No problem with dogs, per say - but the owners, oof. According to the entitled owners who don’t think ordinances apply to them, it’s always my fault or the dog has never done that before. It’s even happened right in front of signs about leash laws. Glad you got away there.
  23. A brand some associate primarily w/ repros (I know this isn't accurate) not having a limited edition seasonal denim release. I love it.
