  1. Scraping paint in 91 degrees (33 Celsius). Yes, it was so much fun.  Ok, I only did the tack room and the outbuilding. The barn was done with pressure washer on a boom truck. Luckily, I had several enthusiastic helpers. Iron Heart 888s.

I’ve never bought a pair if socks, certainly none of the lifestyle product types.. I have a drawer full of them, I tend to get a couple of pairs for xmas.

they’re not something I ever consider, i pull a pair on in the morning and never give them a second thought so I suppose they’ve succeeded in being socks.. if I could sense I was wearing them/discomfort I would have to reconsider but honestly, they’re just fine.

I certainly wouldn’t import them from abroad when they’re available on most high streets,  if your socks are constantly getting holes it’s probably down to ill fitting footwear...

I wear the same pair of cheap socks for cycling to work.. working on my feet all day in my workshop.. ride home and landscaping the garden till it goes dark, 14hr/day not once do I give them a second thought, I just don’t pamper myself in that regards. controversial maybe but  socks are socks.. I can think of better ways of squeezing enjoyment out of £20.:D

Getting along in my years I decided to pamper myself for certain things. Good mattress, sheets, pillows, socks, shoes/boots. I figure I do a lot of sleeping and a lot of walking/standing. Why not have that be as nice as possible. I also like a good shower head and towels. These things all go into making each day as nice as possible. Now that I've moved to a property with several animals and outbuildings, I also buy myself good gloves.

They don't hold a candle to Corrymoor Mohair socks IMO.

Have you owned any Darn Tough socks?  Saying they "don't hold a candle" seems a bit strong. I have over 20 pair of Darn Tough and have owned some for 8-10 years. No holes, no problems. They make everything from over the calf snowboarding socks to thin no shows. I wear them year round from 90+ to below zero weather. If someone asks for a sock recommendation, I have no hesitation to recommend them. GoBros.com routinely has them on 25% off sales if anyone is interested in trying them.

  4. @blooming are yours new straight or slim straight?  I tried the slim first and they were too snug at the thigh. The new straight had more room and were perfect for me. The denim is definitely dark, closer to black than blue. I really like the weight. Only complaint is shallow pocket bags.

I also ordered some 1101s from Okayama. They came quick and I beat the price increase. I'll measure and take pics.

  5. While visiting my daughter in Seattle we shopped at Blue Owl. Ended up getting the 1108xx "New Straight". Love the fit. I just washed them, so I'll get measurements added after they dry.

  6. My 888s-142's that I thrifted for $30. They were raw or one wash when I got them. My favorite jeans ever. Best fit for me and the denim is just the right weight (14oz). As perfect as they are for me, I'd have a hard time spending $300+ for a pair.
