I'm fucking useless with a needle and thread but this could be an opportune moment to learn. When I've done my own in the past, it's always just shifted the stress to an adjacent spot. Usually I find a proper darning solves the problem for much longer. When I was in Toronto, I used to run them round the corner to Ben Viapiana. He always did very nice work for not a lot of money – but I'm struggling to find anything comparable in the UK, lockdown or not.

Gave the 1001s a wash. They're getting better every time I wear them. Sadly going to have to put them on ice for a while, until I can find somewhere to get some budding holes in the crotch seen to (tried Son of a Stag, Denim Doctor, Black Horse Lane – all closed, even for mail repairs – and Dawson, who will only repair their own). Any suggestions from the British contingent?

Cheers @beautiful_FrEaK. The 1001s are probably the best fitting pair I’ve owned. Proper versatile goldilocks fit that works with almost anything.

Thanks @dudewuttheheck! It's the regular length version, but honestly it still feels about an inch too long most of the time.

Just now, Bobbo said:
Beware of Whitesville. The shrinkage is irregular, even in the same lot.
The ones I have that didn't shrink too much (in a 30 degree wash) is great though.
Can confirm this about Whitesville. Two sets of black tees, one set of whites – all shrank different amounts, even when put through same washing process.
As you say, though, the ones that fit are excellent quality basics.
FWIW, my Merz tees have both been great. I like the slightly longer body for tucking, and I also enjoy the slightly loose neck. Also like that the fabric is a bit more low-key than some of the heavier Japanese loopwheeled options.

@Maynard Friedman every bit as believable as Brighton beach being empty on a hot bank holiday weekend...

@Broark Many thanks for that buddy.

@Broark Question about your buckle backs: how much inseam have they lost after multiple washes? And did you have them hemmed by S&S?

@Wasim Hove Medical Centre! Very near to my secondary school, Blatchington Mill. My GP was always Montpellier Surgery. Hove’s pretty nice these days, and a bit more interesting than it was when I was growing up. I’m pretty close to Dawson’s garage, as a matter of fact, and only a half hour walk to centre of Brighton, so pretty well placed.
I was in Peckham for a few years while I was working at the BBC. Most of my mates are still in that neck of the woods, so I’m around there often... or I was, until the shit hit the fan.I’d be in for a Brighton meet, whenever that may be possible again.

I'm Brighton (or, as much as I hate to say it, Hove actually) born and raised too. Just moved back here from Toronto, where I spent a couple of years, for what was supposed to be a brief stint at home with my folks before moving back up to London (where I lived before TO). Plans on hold at the moment. Still, there are worse places to weather out the storm...

My order of preference would be:
1. Fully custom patch
2. 95-96
3. 04-08Already have a couple variations of the undeniably lovely '96-'98 one.

Who did the TCB 20s contest patch design? That was fantastic...

46 with new denim would be fantastic. Personal preferences would be raw, regular length, non-aged patch. Any little details beyond that (pocket bags, mis-matched buttons) would be a bonus.
