I've been tossing around the idea of a last minute solo trip to Japan, not sure if it's the best financial decision ever but would be the trip of a lifetime...

I support this decision. You’ll never again be this young with this much time off from work. Take the opportunity and go! It might cost a bit to get there, but the weak Yen will make things affordable once you arrive. I’ll bet Hoosiers would welcome a visit if you made it to Kyoto. It would definitely be the trip of a lifetime.

  3. I am looking to move a few pairs of jeans, hoping that some of you will get good use out of them. I've posted these for sale elsewhere and dropped the prices for this SuFu listing as a "pay it forward" for all the great info I've received from this community. I'm also open to reasonable offers. If you see something you like, let me know and let's see if we can work out a deal.

I'll ship internationally with the actual shipping costs added to the sale price. I'm happy to answer questions about the jeans, too. All measurements taken using the BiG method.

I’m curious how they’ll sell since they don’t have the usual features that most denimheads require.

Me too. Zippers and snap closures are anathema to lots of denim heads.

Roy posted an IG story saying that he sold his remaining denim stock to Tilden. That would include whatever black seed denim he had left, I suppose. Having a pair of jeans made with Roy’s White Oak Cone Mills denim might be selling point enough for some.

  5. Long shot here, but does anyone have an unworn/gently used pair of the Warehouse x Hinoya 2021hxx in size 36 that they’d be willing to part with? I’ve had my eye on Yahoo Auctions for a bit and have only seen smaller sizes turn up. Would love to snag another pair if I can find one.

For the 800XX sizing up is recommended, but how much, if you normally wear a 34, just to 36 or even 38?

I'm asking because the measurements are very small for the waist:
second sunrise for the one wash: 36-42cm 38-44cm
    selfedge for the rinsed one: 36- 81.25cm.  38- 82.5cm
    hinoya also o/w: 36- 84cm 38-88cm

Most of my jeans measure 90cm (flat measured x2)- so the 36 would probably stretch to that , the 38 would be more comfortable.
    It just seems a lot.

With the 800xx, go by the measurements, not the tag size. Recent lots of the 800 have been undersized compared to lots produced 5-8 years ago.

The measurements you posted illustrate this well. Size 36 measures 84cm at the waist according to both Second Sunrise and Hinoya. The 14oz denim will stretch some, but it’s not as forgiving as the Banner Denim in my experience. Getting the waist to stretch to 90cm is possible but it won’t be comfortable to wear the jeans out of the wash and they may not ever get to 90cm.

The 800xx lots produced in the mid 2010s were much more consistent in sizing. I had a couple pairs in size 36 that measured 47cm across raw and shrank to 44.5cm after multiple washes. With wear, they stretched to 45.5cm but were still snug in the top block.

If I were to get a pair of 800xx now I’d go with a tag size 38 (my waist measurement is still 45.5cm).

Use a hat washing cage and wash it in cold water in a dishwasher with no drying.  Or you can hand wash it.  This is one of the only Poten models without a leather headband making it easier to wash.

You think you got me, but little do you know the release date is December 14th!

    Oh hells yes! Great news!!

Before the end of the year, we promise.  If we don't get them out before then we promise to give them away for free.

As the end of the year draws closer, I'd like to reserve a pair of Imperial Jeans in size 36 for January 1, 2024 when you start giving them away for free. 😁

  9. My wife and I visited Japan recently and made our way to Hoosiers while in Kyoto. Those who have purchased items from Seiichiro in the past already know this, but he and his apprentice, Hinata, are absolute gems of human beings. They went above and beyond to welcome us to the store and get me fitted for some Freewheelers denim. It was cool to hear stories about the Japanese denim world from someone with insider knowledge. Plus, Seiichiro and Hinata are a great hang. Best dudes. One of the highlights of our trip. I highly recommend a visit when you're in Kyoto.

  10. Same jeans aside from the inseam length and the details you noted. The Self Edge version of the 800 was special ordered and had a longer inseam, roughly 34” post-wash. The 800 currently for sale on the Warehouse website has a raw inseam measurement of 33.8”. That will shrink to around 31” after washing/soaking.

I need a general Warehouse advice please - since I don’t own any trousers/jeans from WH, do they usually shrink to tag size? Feel free to share your experience.

I have the 1001 in Banner Denim (~13.5oz) and the 800 in 14.5oz denim, both size 36 and purchased unsanforized. Pre-soak waist measurements were around 37” using the BiG method. Both pairs measured ~34.5” after a hot soak and cold machine wash, so roughly 2”-2.5” of shrink at the waist. Both stretch back to tag size/36”, the Banner Denim easily, the 14.5oz denim with a bit of difficulty, about a week’s worth of uncomfortable wear.

Keep an eye on the inseam length measurement, too. I got 2.5”-3” of inseam shrink with soak/wash routine mentioned above.

  12. I was curious to see how quickly the OA01xx 0522 would sell out. The jeans showed up online at 9:01am for me and all sizes were available. I checked out the size 38, but didn't buy since I have a pair in the xx2 denim. By 9:02am the 3 largest sizes were sold out. These puppies went fast!

For what it's worth, the pair I purchased years ago had been returned to S&S a couple weeks after an Ooe drop. Keep an eye on their site starting in a week or so to monitor for returned stock. Alternatively, someone inevitably fucks up sizing with these jeans, so check the SuFu and Reddit "for sale" threads and Grailed over the next few weeks.

  13. Great pickup, @DC2020! The 14.5oz Memphis denim is my fave of the Warehouse offerings. I have a pair of the 800 in the same denim. The inseam shrunk a little over 3" on that pair - from 35" to around 31.5" after an initial hot soak, a warm wash in the wash machine, and multiple cold wash/hang dry cycles. My guess is your pair will end up with a 31" inseam over time, give or take a half inch or so.

Yeah, the prevailing wisdom is that they shrink from tag size and pretty easily stretch back to tag size.

My experience with OA jeans has been a different. I've had the 01 and 02 cuts in the XX2 and XX3 denim and none of my pairs stretched back to raw measurements at the waist. All shrank from tag size and settled 1"-2" below tag size at the waist after multiple washes (including an initial hot machine wash) and hang dry. I've always sized up 2 and this has worked well. Could be different for the new denim, I suppose.

i have a love/hate relation to these. and sorry guys i get excited seeing the roy thread on the front page

Same here. I have a size 36 that shrinks to just under 34" at the waist with each wash. The waist stretches back out, eventually, but it is a long and painful 10-14 days before they are comfortable again.

@Josh'N'Roll are you extremely wide foot? Sizing up 0.5 won't help?

If I wasn't only into loud kicks I'd be all over them, too. They'd instantly take me for 6 feet to 6'2''

I'll be in LA next week, so I may stop by SELA and see if sizing up will accommodate my hobbit feet. Stoked about potentially going from 6'1" to 6'3".

Digging the fine-striped Merz shirts, too.
