  1. Any info on around when FW18 will be shipping out? Ordered those sneakers from 2nd a couple of months ago knowing full well that there'd be a good wait, but getting all excited and restless anyhow

    Would buy if they weren’t tiny waist!!

    You and me both

    If these were a 32 or a 33 I wouldn't've waited 10 minutes between seeing them and bidding

  3. Both the SBG and overdyed flagship denim are really appealing, but the 634 and 888 are too slim and it doesn't seem likely that they'll ever do a 1955 in any nonstandard fabric

  4. ^^ I don't remember where the leg opening sat in terms of slimness, but a few months back I was pretty seriously considering the S&S Momotaro 0605-B for a black-on-black pair…until my thighs grew more. Really great-looking pair of jeans

    If you're on the slim end, Sugar Cane's double-black Type III jeans are pretty neat too

    I'm also still on the market for a pair of slim–straight black jeans with room in the thighs, in case anyone has any rec's, but am no longer getting my hopes very far up

  5. @JohnM: Machine-washed, air-dryed. The post-wash measurements were taken as soon as they dried—the waist feels like it's stretched out about an inch since then, after three or four days of wear, and I expect it'll give a little more in time. Once they feel like they've settled down I'll post up another set of measurements.

  6. How about Danner? I mostly think of them as hiking boots, but the classic Mountain Light looks good and wears well, and I'm pretty sure it comes with the classic Vibram lug sole that should do fine in city snow.

    edit: recommendation meant for all besides aho, of course : )

  7. I've never had pre-washed Cane's shrink significantly anywhere besides the inseam; I wouldn't bet on being able to cut down on "bagginess" with a wash. If you do try to, the bathtub's no way to do it: a hot wash and a trip through the dryer will be your best bet. That said, exchanging for a size down—or, better yet, a different cut with less room through the knees—is much more likely to result in a pair of jeans you're happy wearing.

    I really think that the Moderator should disallow posts like this and the others which are off topic and about people they don't know and have never met and not about denim and how it looks. It is fair enough to comment on whether you like or don't like a particular denim look but personal comments are hurtful and are unacceptable in my opinion. They would not be tolerated in school or  in the workplace where they would be called bullying.

    To be fair: in many schools and workplaces, neither would that revealing of a pair of jeans be tolerated

    I would love to know your pre and post measurements. I sized up but the shrinkage someone over on DBro got from his pair has me thinking I did not size up enough.

    I think that was probably me. The full measurements for my pair (pre-wash -> post-wash, in inches) are

    waist: 34.75 -> 31.5

    front rise: 13 -> 12.25

    rear rise: 17.75 -> 16.5

    thigh (0"): 13.75 -> 13

    thigh (2"): 13 -> 12.25

    inseam: 36 -> 32.5

    Wash was done on "medium". Not sure what temp. that amounts to.

    edit: Tag size is 33.

  10. Any info on what the details are generally like on his Test Lot jeans (besides the pockets)? Even given that posting photos is a no-go, there seems to be surprisingly little info floating around…

    Been real tempted to jump on a pair of his jeans before the Black Seed fabric runs out, but a little scared to do so without knowing anything more about what I'm signing up for

    Didn't love the details on the Memorial jeans, but would've been all over the Peanuts if I'd had the chance

  11. +5 for Tender socks—1 for each pair in my rotation. Of what I've tried, these are my favorites by far.

    As to proxy services: Buyee is good if you don't plan to buy more than one item at a time from a given seller. Their option to not pay anything until you've won an auction / finalized a purchase is really convenient, and overall their whole setup seems pretty transparent. They are, however, unable to request that a seller combines shipping for multiple items, even if they're purchased on the same day. Because of this, I've been straying away from them, but haven't yet settled on a permanent alternative.
