Couple of months ago I gave one of the brass peregrine falcon whistles to my sweetie as a necklace 

It’s a really gorgeous piece—the casting is great, and I’m particularly fond of the variation in color around the joint where the two pieces were heated up & brazed together

@blooming has it stayed intact? I remember when they first started doing this a couple folks tried picking the stitches and their tabs ended up disintegrating over the next few wishes, I guess just from the damage done by the bar tacks. I never wanted to risk it with mine. Maybe they’ve changed how they do it?

Recently patched over a knee blowout on the M41119 that I use mostly for climbing

Did it all by hand, which I had never actually tried out before for this sort of repair, & I’m really happy with how it’s turned out

I’d had an old stock pair of these in the closet for a while still rigid. Could tell they were going to be absolute favorites, but I guess I was just saving them for a rainy day? These showed up on Yahoo for a steal, washed & hemmed short but otherwise like new. Snatched them up w/ the intention of using them mostly for climbing & yard work, since I knew the legs would be too short for regular wear. Really happy with how they’ve been wearing in, and the fit is just about perfect. Makes me look forward to the dead stock pair all the more.

They both look gorgeous, but don’t you live in Texas? I can’t even imagine getting wear out of that thing in Northern California…

@indigoeagle I think the rivets shown there are indeed the round / chubby kind—compare to, e.g., the ones used at the front pocket opening

As far as I can tell (someone please correct me, otherwise??), there’s no historical precedent for the extra extra chubby backs that The Vanishing West use for the backs of their buttons & hidden rivets

@l13902733261 Ironing will flatten it out no problem, but if the creasing is caused by the pants being tapered enough towards the hem that the cuff is bunching up the fabric above it then it’ll likely come back before long
