Thanks Neal. The new denim’s cut from a roll. I don’t remember where I got it for sure, but I think it’s probably old stock from White Oak. Nice mid weight. Had it around for a while—just a yard or so left, so the rest will all be for patches like this.

Thanks, all. They’ve been through the wash and dryer now to set all the stitching & they’re feeling great—fit just like they did in their previous life

Surprised by how slim these jeans look from the back

& Here’s when they were new, for posterity (I think I must have posted them at the time, but if so I can’t find the post)

M41200 after extensive repairs (see Repairs thread for details)

Did some pretty major renovations on my M41200, this week
I got these some time in 2019, and they got worn at least a couple times a week through around the end of 2020. From late 2021 onwards, they’ve been in rotation mostly as climbing jeans. I’ve posted updated a few times in the M-series thread as well as the main SC thread (before the former existed).
A few months ago, the seat ripped in 4 places in the span of a day. The surrounding denim was clearly wearing thin enough that patching or darning would just mean another major round of repairs in a few months, so I opted to cut up the whole seat and splice in new denim all together. While they were open, I also patched the left thigh, the front right panel of the crotch, and the left back pocket, and I added some reinforcement to the upper right part of the seat, where it seemed like they might soon need it. Overall, I’m really pleased with how they turned out.

Good jeans, tons of life left. Would buy again.

Cross-posting from the M-series thread to keep things moving in here…
M41058 old and new (3ish years / 1–2 months)
The color on the old ones is truest in the angled photos (& the one w/ the dogs) where they appear bluer.
These are my favorite jeans, in a lot of ways, and I’m really glad to have found a second pair. The old ones are tagged W33 and were hemmed to 35.5” when raw by S&S Oakland. They didn’t shrink as much as I expected, and they ended up around 1.5” longer than ideal, so I’ve always worn them with a cuff. The new ones are tagged W35 and had already been washed & hemmed to just about my perfect length when I got them, so they’ve been getting worn w/ a nice clean break.
The denim has held up incredibly well—but the constructional stitching has been the opposite, so I’ve had to go over pretty much every seam, at this point. The only other repair I’ve had to do is to there pocket bag where I carry my keys. Overall, even though I don’t think it’s the main thing that draws me to these pants, I’m really happy with how the denim itself has worn. The puckering, the color, and the little bit of vertical falling are all perfect, and it’s super comfortable right from the start.

Good shout! The Michi Jacket (https://crescentdownworks.com/collections/jackets/products/michi-jacket-mustard) is very close to what I’m looking for. They’ve been on my radar for a while, but I don’t think I realized they did anything non-down. I wish they offered some better colors, but that does seem like a good potential option

Has anyone done a good reproduction of the Sierra Designs 60/40 Mountain Parka from the ‘80s?
I’ve been eyeing these for years and am at a point where I think I’d really like to get my hands on one. Sierra Designs actually still makes them—domestically in the US, at that—but they’re only available on the Japanese market, and something about paying a proxy service to buy a MiUSA jacket from the Japanese branch of an American company just to ship it back state side really rubs me the wrong way. I’ll probably still end up going for it if there aren’t any other good options out there, but would rather something more direct.
Sadly, vintage doesn’t seem to be a great option for these.

If you’re okay with poly stitching, the Merz ones are decent (and they go on sale for a lot cheaper than most MiJ)

Old long horn patch 1001xx in 33x34 up on Yahoo in good condition for a good deal…

@Graytrain There’s another pair of M41027 up now in W34, in case they’re still on your mind…
I do actually have a pair of the hair on hides squirreled away, with tags and all, but they’re a couple of sizes too small (tagged 32 or 33, I think), so they’re more likely to end up being my partner’s than mine

Most cuts labeled “relaxed tapered” seem to really be more in the slim–tapered to narrow–tapered range, these days, so maybe TCB isn’t far off after all…

Beautiful pair of Bootleggers up on Yahoo right now w/ the tags and everything…anyone planning on biting?

Posted in the Warehouse thread recently about my 1001xx DSB which, among many other repairs, had just had their back pocket patched up. Did the same repair yesterday on my 601xx and thought I’d document it a little better. Pictures should tell the story okay.
Forgot to photo the final product, but it looks about the same as it did on the 1001xx…

Yeah, the measurements on the site seemed promising, but I emailed Ryo to check and he replied that the new Lee jeans are some of the slimmest they've done (at least through the hips and thighs), even more so than the S40s. Supposedly the aim is, in part, to fill the niche of a slim–tapered cut, which wasn't really present in their lineup previously. Oh well.

Don’t know much about these. Seems like pretty much the same exact details, top to bottom, as the MP-619, but in a much wider cut—same hardware and everything. Maybe from early after the switch to M-series? They’re also sized on the smaller end: these are tagged W36 and fit more similar to the W34 of the late ‘90s
