The SC47s are really great- the cut, the fabric, as has been said many times, great value/price ratio.
If a friend asked me for a good recommendation at a reasonable price I'd recommend them.
Even without arcs and tab now. At Pants Shop Avenue one can find the rigid ones.yes: these and the tcb 50s would be my definite recommend to anyone for reasonable pairs... link to the PSA rigid pls?

Thanks folks!
Yes, Beachy Head was on our list and we saw a small zoo in the area. Rye noted as well. Maybe some castles...Of course a lot depends on the weather. Especially since we are going at the end of Aprilno probs; beware: Beachy Head has a real steep decline at its apex if I recall: not something you want anything with wheels too near...

The FrEaK-Family is planning their first big(ger) holiday this year [last year's holiday in Austria doesn't really cont IMO].
The destination will be South England, Bexhill-on-Sea to be more precisely (because my uncle has a holiday flat there).Any tips from our UK residents what to do in that area with a 18 months old boy?! I guess a trip to London won't be so much fun for everybody involved
culture-is wise outside of the Bexhill art space...
Derek Jarman's garden at Prospect Cottage is worth a visit; but really exposed, and with excellent back drop of nuclear power station; about 1hr drive... a weird end of the world place, maybe not for little babies...
https://www.creativefolkestone.org.uk/prospect-cottage/
here's a book ' Modern Nature' he wrote whilst ending his days there...
plus Charleston House is a 30-ish min drive from there [this is more tea rooms, interesting furnishings and modernist art history / queer history...]
https://www.charleston.org.uk/visit/
otherwise Hastings, Brighton, Eastbourne all nearby...
plus there is a plethora of coast there; not all 'kiss-me-quick' hats and postcards...

I enjoyed this tho.. Adam Curtis's 2016 docu HyperNormalisation, it's on the i-player for those who can get it or here on Vimeo
yes yes: in particular this bit on Putin and his advisor Vladislav Surkov...
this book has interesting chapter on him... "Described as a 'cynic in velvet,' Surkov combined his political technology with a love of gangsta rap, Beat poetry, and writing postmodern fiction"
[had got the book to see what if it had to say on Pepe / meme magic beliefs of online alt-right: it didn't, but I stayed for the Surkov section which also goes on to Alexander Dugin quite well...]

I flicked the TV on last night and there was a docu on BBC2 called 'Fight The Power, How Hip-Hop Changed The World' .. i thought this might be good so i put it on and they was talking about Obama's links with Hip-Hop (ikr?) .. then it cut to Ice-T sitting in industrial unit and he said and i quote "and that's when Obama became the first Hip-Hop president" .
Nope! switched that off.. wtf Ice-T, you used to be cool
..in 1988
he at least gave kendrick some love...

TCB
in superdenim
On 1/23/2023 at 7:26 PM, Geeman said:I ended up ordering these. I know I said not a lot exciting me in the denim world at the moment, but given I like the material and details on TCB but couldn't find a fit that worked and that they actually listened to customer feedback (mine included) I thought why not.
I know you guys don't go for the slimmer cuts much.
Ordered Wednesday, free shipping and came today.
Ryo said might lose a bit more in length so did a quick wash before hemming.
Have you guys seen much shrinkage in the 50s denim (OW already)?
Initial thoughts, fit is like WH 900xx but with a tiny bit more taper.....
I found with the 50s that they would lose length in the wash, but as the fabric relaxed it would come back after a while... love that fabric very much...
hope they work for you!

@julian-wolf solidarity and fingers crossed for the negotiations; the ucu strikes in the uk are ongoing too. my participation in strike actions on this recently has been absolutely motivated around the treatment of the upcoming researchers and academics; the university system as it stands now with precarious contracts for tiny fees that ask for cornerstone work by those without permanent contracts is burning the university of the future...

@oomslokop - get well soon! sending well wishes! scary stuff! look after yourself! life is a fragile and fugitive thing; keep going!
forgot to send this to you: went to see the Natasha Tontey you mentioned at auto-italia back in autumn; it was pretty rad: inside was the film looped [pretty fine work imo]: but nice nice mural outside too... thumbs up from the uk

I enjoy taking care of good shoes. I'm probably too blunt.
no problem! me too!
On 12/17/2022 at 1:28 AM, CSL said:I used to be an obsessive shoe polisher. Lots of spitting & rubbing tiny circles with a cloth wrapped finger. Sounds vaguely obscene, doesn't it?
Back then I had one good pair of shoes (wingtips/brogues) & a pair of engineer boots. I recall my chums taking the piss out of my shiny boots yet to me it felt right to keep them regularly polished.
I rarely have time for that routine anymore & save that approach for for leather that has somewhat of a natural shine.
sounds good to me! never been into polish myself, always used dubbin so natural changes could be seen. sent a pair of boots to be resoled at cheaney factory; forgot to say no polish: they came back a very different boot... much flatter...
these days I am enjoying what mink oil does to black leather; a sort of matt hum...

I see no advantages either way, just enjoying the shiny wrinkles...

@Talan - back to attractions again: they seem to like a mirror polish on a worn in boot; not even hiding poor leather...

the true horror is when looking in hinoya and the regular lvc costs more for the Japanese customer than pairs of Warehouse being sold for c.280 in UK brick and mortar stores ...........
