So does this mean no duties for Canada?

Edit: Yes, no duties for canadians for items coming in from the EU

This is the first I'm hearing of this and this is crazy awesome. Has anyone ordered anything recently from EU and can confirm they didnt pay taxes on the import? If so, this is actually a game changer for ordering from like, End with their free shipping... (lol, until Brexit i guess...)

Would love to see some fit pictures.

I also got myself a pair of black/white bamba2, can't wait to receive the package!

The white is a little bit too much in my opinion. But I can't find the black/grey dyed colorway anywhere, I totally slept on those.:(

I've been working on some fit pics and will deliver soon.

The only place I've seen the black/grey in stick was at BBS in NYC back in mid-October, and they only had a few of the smaller sizes left (7, 8, etc..)

  3. Got my BBSxSalomon Bamba2's a couple weeks back at Serpentine, and while I love them, after a handful of wears, its becoming very clear that these will not be anywhere close to ideal for a harsh, snowy, Toronto winter. The mesh membrane that runs along the top of the toe-box and up the lateral side toward the ankle lets air through like a screen door. Not a deal-breaker around 5-10 degrees Celsius, but once the temps dip below 0, these will likely have to go out of rotation..

Again, very glad I got these for the transitional seasons, but for those considering getting these to trudge through a foot of snow, they're not the solution you're looking for.

PS, loving the representation Toronto is getting lately here on sufu. Nice to see more Canadians out in the wild B)

I both agree and disagree with this. While on one end, yes i wish it was all white because I already missed out on that colorway in the past. But on the other end, I like that E is choosing to being this loud.

I do agree it's cool erlsn is doing something different and diverging from past aesthetics, but I guess its not what i look for in my techwear. Also, correct me if im wrong but I think the alpine never released before in all white, it was the 2in1.

Eye's peeled for what else is in store this season!

  5. I'm still not there with this colorway of the Alpine. It's not terrible by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm not looking to be that loud and conspicuous... It's too much like a regular snowboarding jacket from billabong or forum or whatever.

If this was just all white, i'd be into it. It's mainly the stripes pattern thats turning me off.

Hopefully there'll be another colorway that's more appealing this season thats more palatable.

  6. Hey just thought I'd share some of my own recent DIY work. Its nothing fancy, but I've been toying around with making my own belts. I know, I know, DIY belts are a dime a dozen in this thread, but I'm pretty satisfied with how this one turned out so... :)

My first few were okay by most techwear standards, but I think I've finally found the configuration that best works for me and works with all my pants across multiple brands (Arc'teryx, GG, SISP). I decided to go with this double tension-lock design. Admittedly not original, but in my opinion, the most versatile. The challenge that I was mainly trying to overcome was the fact that the belt loops on my GG Stability Joggers were too small to comfortably pass a 25mm Cobra buckle through. I could get it through there, but I was definitely placing strain on the loops each time, and I wanted to avoid that.

With this configuration, the belt effectively exists as three separate pieces. The left and right sides of the buckle, with corresponding tension-locks, and the length of the belt itself. You're able to thread the belt through any sized loops, sans the buckle, and then attach it all together at the front. The other benefit is that you can change out the length of the belt if you have additional webbing, or even change the colour of the webbing if you wanted to.

Now, there are a few downsides to this config too, I'll admit. Since the distance between the tension-locks and the buckle is fixed, you might run into situations where the locks sit right where a loop is... which is not ideal. I'm currently thinking up a way to maybe add some adjustability to that part of the config (between buckle and lock). I measured out the loops on all my pants and then went with a length that best works with all of them.

Let me know what you guys think. Always happy to hear feedback. My sewing skills are minimal, so please don't be too harsh regarding the quality! haha

@strikethroughHaha, I have the same shoes (I DM'ed you before about sizing info), cargos (although in grey) and also recently acquired a J34. I'll try not to copy your fits! Seriously though, how did you get the crazy taper on those SISP zip cargos? Did you have them altered?

No worries dude. Put whatever kind of fits you want together and post em! I'm actually interested in seeing how other people wear their J34's now that I got one.

Ah haha, its an illusion. The taper on the pants is because i pulled them back a little bit for the photo. They actually stack really nicely and look pretty tapered already with those boots (because of the rise in the front and the pull-tab in the back holding the pant cuffs above the ankle), but I just tucked them back a bit behind me for the shot. If the material had a bit of stretch to it, I probably would get them tapered a bit, because it really does look good, but with my size feet, I'd make getting them on way too much of a hassle.

Strikethrough, are you who I think you are because that's awesome and not what I'm used to from you.

Hah, I don't think so! But thanks for the compliment. Love the fit! My most recent pickup was a J34 and it has definitely not disappointed. Looking forward to putting together some waywt's with it later in the fall.

Chiming in on this: my size M quilted liner attaches perfectly fine into my size L leather flight jacket at all anchor points (across the collar/upper back, and end of sleeves). I doubt you will have any problems picking up a vest/liner that is +/- one size.

Thanks for the insight. Yeah, something on Grailed or from AW17/18. Whatever's good. I'm gonna wait a little while and see what the best option is. Canadian winters get pretty damn cold so something packed with down will be necessary to make that parka wearable.

I can answer your question based on the interactivity of Errolsons other garments. My ACG 2-in1 insulator sz M zip in perfectly to my Sz L J1a-GT. So based on that alone I would assume that the snaps and zips would work together regardless of size.

    Thanks for the reply!

I'm a 30-31 waist, not sure if I should go with an S or M for the upcoming convert pants. I know SISP runs small, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

In my experience, its a bit tough to say definitively.. I've purchased more than one pair of pants from Stone Island, and both size 30 and 32 pants have been the right fit in different circumstances. The regular SI cargos I got a couple years back are a size 32, and the SISP zip cargos from last season fit me in a 30. Id say if its at all possible, try them on first before buying, but if there's any doubt, size up and wear a belt.

Got my intro to techwear some 6 or 7 years ago (I think?) with Acronym. ACRNM will always be my first love, but I've expanded my appreciation out to other techwear labels (SI:SP, GG, Veilance, ETC..). Didn't have the means to cop anything back in the early days, but eventually worked up to a place where I could allow myself the odd purchase and have been slowly building a wardrobe that suits my style. Eventually, my interest lead me here where I lurked for a while. Joined shortly after getting my first ACR piece (3A-1) some months back.

    Sup.

  12. I've got a question and I'm hoping someone here might be able to give me some first-hand insight...

Do items need to be size matched to fit together via parseq? My assumption is that they do, but I was just wondering if anyone here has had the opportunity to test this before and what the results were? (ie. size L Augment vest or liner fitted into a size M Proof/Resist parka, jacket, or whatever). I assume if the spacing on the anchor points is different from size to size, then that would pose some challenges.

The reason I'm asking is because I have the purple/black distressed TPX Polyester parka from the most recent season and I'm hoping to pick up an augment vest or liner to complement it in the colder months, and I'm just curious if parseq interoperability is flexible at all from a sizing point-of-view.

There's loads of stuff sitting on grailed for double retail as a result of the recent upsurge in popularity of the brand. I counted 18  x J1TS-S at one point. I think most people here appreciate more approachable pricing when they are genuinely buying for themselves to use, you'll notice a lot of people moving stuff on for retail which is more like the spirit. After the last 3rd arm drop the bags sold out in minutes and then resellers got stuck with them. It's so, so silly and I hope this bubble bursts soon.

The less movement there is in the resell market for these items, the more discouraged resellers will get about jumping on releases thinking they'll make a quick buck. Every day they sit on a J1TS-S is another day they don't make a profit and consider dropping their price. Best and only thing we can do is not give them the satisfaction and only buy from reputable community members for reasonable prices. On the other hand, you can't stop someone who is new to acr thinking that whats on offer on grailed is the market price and caving to the high prices because they want a piece. It's kind of a crapshoot that way.

Correct me if i'm wrong someone, but isn't this the packable jacket?

Sorry, I worded that weird. My bad. I meant the jacket is stowed up in its own stowaway pocket, and then I keep that in my 3a-1

  15. Hey guys, long time lurking.. deciding now to finally come out of my cave and post.. .

My girlfriend bought me a J61-WS off grailed for my birthday, my first acr jacket (yeah, I know, shes a keeper), but i was wondering about the windstopper fabric... Is it okay to keep it packed up in the stow-pocket in my 3a-1 for convenience's sake, or would the WS fabric get damaged if things like the zips or other hardware press or rub against it for extended periods of time in that state? I imagine with the pressure of the packed up hardware pressing against it might cause some friction and eventually do some damage? If so, I'll just keep it unpacked when not in use.

On the topic of odd sizing, do the SISP low top slip ons fit pretty true to size? I'm eyeballing a pair.

Not sure about the lows specifically, but I definitely sized down in the boot. Usually an 11.5 or 12 US. Took an 11 and they're right on. Possibly same in the lows? I'm curious to know myself.

edit - whoops, sorry, totally got that wrong. I've checked and confirmed that I actually bought a size 45EU which is 12US, so in actuality, i'd recommend taking your regular size or size up if you're a half-size. Sorry for the confusion.
