In terms of what 'ethic' are we talking about? - Environmentally friendly? Or cheap labour?

Early Uniqlo selvaged denims were cheap but quite nice (i.e. Shuttle (these were made in China), Made In Japan series etc), but the current selvaged denims contains 1 or 2% of Elastine for stretching which is off-putting to me.

Yeah, I think that's the issue......Japan is still a 'cash society' and we seldom use plastics unless we purchase something from internet/mail orders or book hotel rooms.

So I still need a coin pocket in my wallet.

Personally, my heyday of premium-quality jeans were over almost ten years ago. Since then I've been wearing my old pairs (i.e. Evisu, Warehouse, Denime etc.) or current Levi's 501s (STF) going back and forth.

I'm still interested in denim products and enjoy seeing people's fashion coordination (I steal their style from time to time ), but unfortunately I have to think about my financial situation for my future now. It sounds harsh, but that's reality.....

Sadly I find the market of vintage/repro jeans getting smaller and smaller each year I go back to Japland - they seem to struggle to sell their own products. Well, time will tell.....

Well, people may accept Hawaiian shirts here but when it comes to Toyo's (aka Buzz Rickson's) souvenir jackets, then it could be more difficult. Every time I wear my souvenir jackets and go to my local Waitrose, the security guard gives me kinda suspicious look which makes me feel uncomfortable.

Anyway, I'd like to try Toyo's 100-Tiger shirt someday - perhaps I'll look for some secondhand shops in Tokyo next time I go back there.

Some sort of homage to soldiers' custom A2 linings and popularity of aloha shirts. Buzz rickson's sister brand, Sam Surf, made replica aloha shirts of a shirt with this design from the early 1950s.

Yeah.....I remember those "Hyaku Tora (100 Tigers)" Hawaiian shirts.....though it may be a challenging to wear it here in London.
