I like both colors but I’m not digging the pockets for the bottom one. Much prefer the acorn pockets. I wonder why UES doesn’t use acorn pockets for the ultra heavy flannel?

I have flannels in 4 and 5 (not much to choose between them, really, but 4 is more fitted, as you'd expect), a type III jacket in size 4 – they were really going for a trim silhouette with this, and nailed it in my opinion... I had been chasing one from UES for a while, then the one Aussie bloke who seems to buy their stuff and then sell it on for whatever reason put one up on eBay. Actually, I think both my flannels came from him as well.

In the jeans department, I have the 400T in a 33. I'm generally 33-34 depending on brand, and would say that the top block feels much like it could be from Full Count 1101s in 33, Flat Head 3005s in 34, or (somewhat weirdly) Tender 129s in size 4 but the 400T is tighter at the knees and more strongly tapered to a smaller hem. If I squat in them, I'll feel a stronger pull and probably end up revealing more butt crack than most other pairs. Like Tender, generous pocket bags produce distinctive fades. Bit of a brownish/ecru weft; I like it a lot. 15oz denim feels soft and dense with use, and I've yet to see any breaks in honeycombs or whiskers. I'm hoping the jacket wears in half as nicely as the jeans – early signs suggest it will.

Mind sharing your height/weight? I’m thinking you and I might be similar in size. I would likely try a size 4 for the heavy flannel. Not sure about the jeans yet as I don’t really need any

  3. Really like the look of their flannel with acorn pockets. May have to try them.

any of you have experience with their denim? I’ve been wanting to try a pair but don’t know how accurate their sizing is.

I don’t think wearing a brand’s image is about creating your own identity, but demonstrating to others that you share the identity of the brand or simply that the brand means something to you as a wearer.

And that extends to anything. I’m pretty sure anyone that wears a Rolex or drives a Porsche isn’t going out of their way to obscure these brands. I’ve never had anyone comment on the brands I wear because the truth is, most people don’t care. Every company out there has some form of branding. I’m not big on plastering logos all over myself either but if I like something I’ll wear it. It also helps that I don’t care what others think of my wardrobe.

If they’re sanforized AND once-washed, they should shrink very little, in the range of zero to 1 inch, based on my experience.

I would also say that the type of denim makes a difference in how much shrink you get with sanforized.  I have a pair of LHT that didn’t shrink at all after many washes and others that shrunk a half inch to an inch. Not sure why that is but this has been my experience. Which is basically what you’re saying lol

Dang man! Not tying to encourage bad spending, but if I remember right you were pining for a pair even before Ande closed up shop!

    True, but I won’t spend money I don’t have.

This question is for the Americans here:

Anybody here get questioned if they’re in the Navy, Army, Air Force when wearing Buzz items?  Just a thought. :laugh2:

I don’t own any BR pieces but if I did I wouldn’t wear anything with military stenciling. Really glad to see History Preservation offering non-stenciled items. Personally, I’d feel kinda silly wearing something like that. I have this image in my mind of strangers asking me if I belong to some WW2 re-enactment group

I've used RFG for a couple of tapers and several hems, and their work and customer service has always been great. It's bothersome to me to see this experience. I want to continue to use them as my go-to. I've been told that it's Steven himself who does tapers and that's why it takes so long, vs a hem, which I assume can be done by any skilled sewer and takes a couple of days. Maybe someone not a skilled as Steven did this job?

This is why I think these matters should be kept between the buyer and seller. You had good experiences, unfortunately, one negative comment can hurt a business even if that business has done hundreds of these jobs with hundreds of satisfied customers. Should RC fix the problem? Absolutely, but there are always two sides to a story and I think it's premature to judge the merits of the OP without knowing RC's perspective.

for every bad experience you read about there might be 5 positives you didn’t. I just don’t see how productive it is to rant about this publicly to a bunch of strangers and expect everyone to be sympathetic. If it were me I’d try to resolve the issue with the company privately. If that fails then I’d chock it up to a loss and consider it a learning experience. Mistakes happen and maybe there was some miscommunication that we don’t know about. I’m not trying to be a jerk — I just believe these types of outcomes should be between the buyer and seller and behind closed doors.

i can't understand why your post would garner negs? unless fan-boys just will not accept critism of this brand? ..who knows... anyway i have a point,

    1. Because nobody cares and 2. it 's very childish to air your grievances on a public forum, even going so far as to threaten to post emails. I'm not a fan-boy fwiw but in this instance I just can't abide with someone who sounds like they're throwing a tantrum.

Great brand, I have jeans and shirts from them. Their type 3 has been on my want list for a long time.

My 400st jeans are also my fastest fading.

I wish UES offered bigger sizes for their jackets. Their type III only goes up to 4 and is raw which would make it unwearable. I prefer one wash. They have a few other tops that only go up to 3 as well
