    Suggestions?

My first thought would be to look into Banana Republic and J Crew. I would only wear them once.

Do this. You should be able to find something presentable and inexpensive at either of these stores. My thought would be to respect the wishes of the bride and groom since it's their one special day. I can't remember but my wedding was also semi-formal, but we didn't explicitly state that no one should wear jeans. Although, I probably would've been irked if someone showed up dressed like a slob, say in shorts and t-shirt. Not saying wearing jeans can't be presentable but I try to follow whatever the etiquette is of the event i'm attending. My worthless 2 cents

I remember buying reigning champ stuff and being a little disappointed by it...I think at the discounted prices you can find them at a lot of times, they're fine though.

I don't have experience with any other brands that sell sweats so can't give an objective opinion on the differences in quality between them and RC. For me though, RC is warm enough, especially their tiger fleece sweatshirts, and I like their fits. I prefer a slim fit hoodie or crewneck sweatshirt that isn't billowy and RC ticks those boxes for me. I have 2 RC hoodies and 3 crewneck sweatshirts and they've all held up fine over the years.

    Whats the best hoodie?

I’ve been wearing American Giant the oast few years but have been eyeing Ironheart, strike Gold, and others to name a few but is it worth 2x the price?

I like Reigning Champ hoodies and sweatshirts. RC can always be found on discount as well. I honestly think you reach the point of diminishing returns when it comes to knits, but I know that’s a subjective opinion. I say buy whatever brand floats your boat. I like RC because of price but mainly for their fit

I suppose, to be fair to the US seller, they have shipping & import duties to factor in. I'm surprised Samurai is also selling it for $500+.

Maybe they don’t want to undercut their international retailers?

  5. Any of you experience consistent front pocket wear on your denim? I have 2 pairs now that have developed a hole at the top of the pocket bag, likely because I’m always taking my keys in and out. I suppose I could just stop keeping keys in my front pocket all day but it’s a habit. Guess I’ll eventually have to send them in for repair at Indigo Proof.

If a suit doesn't fit well, it looks terrible. A well tailored suit speaks volumes. You want to look your absolute best on that day.

My thought as well. I’ve seen way too many guys wearing what amounts to a potato sack for a suit. Oh, and nice polished shoes do make a difference. Captoe balmoral is the standard for formal occasions.

  7. I don’t read blogs. Japanalogue is the only one I’ve read with any regularity, but only because he interviews denim brands, which I find more interesting.

I’ve watched the occasional vlog on YouTube but again, not very interesting to watch some dude talk about jeans for 10 minutes unless I’m obsessed with something specific

Not entirely denim related, but does anyone have recommendations / suggestions for suiting brands?
I'm starting to look for a suit for my wedding in October and I know little to nothing about formal attire.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, I'm trying to see if FW might have something in the pipeline but want to browse around as well.
Orgueil seems to have some nice offerings.

I know it may sound contrary to what you may be used to but try Nordstrom Rack. You may be able to find a Hickey Freeman suit for a decent price. I’d avoid places like Macy’s and such and not bother with a cheap suit. Otherwise, if you’re not looking to spend much $ then maybe renting a suit might work. I tend to look at men’s suiting/dress shoes as an investment, kinda like with denim/flannels/outerwear. You can go cheap if you don’t see yourself wearing a suit/dress shoes often, if at all, or get the best quality you can afford knowing you’ll have nice pieces later down the road for other occasions that might require you to wear a suit.

  9. Really slim tapered denim bugs me too. I need at least 7.75” to 8” with 8” being my preferred width. I could get away with an 8.25-8.5” hem but I don’t want something that looks too bell bottomish on my frame.

I’m trying to be better at washing my denim more frequently to prolong the life of my jeans. I’ve already had two pairs go through really bad abrasion and blowouts due to months without a wash. My oldest pair of denim is 7 yo and still going strong because they get washed more often
