I tried for hours to get the 1890s but never made it through. To be honest, I don't think anyone got it. When he took things down, it had still not sold out by that point as far as I'm aware.

That was my experience too! I could eventually get them in the cart but then when I’d get to checkout it would say they weren’t available, but they were still showing as such. But again money I didn’t need to spend.

  2. Roy “OG” jeans. Not sure when these were made, got them off eBay years ago and that is what the seller said. Have a thick older patch.
The seller didn’t know or disclose that the waist had been modified as some point, and I didn’t notice either until I took the time to look. You can’t tell from the outside. I’d keep them myself but they are too small.
    W- 14.75

    Fr- 9.5

    RR- 14.25

    Thigh 2 inches down- 10.75

    Knee 13 inches down- 8

    Hem- 7.25

    Length- 35.5

I forgot to take a overall photo of the back. Minimal fading and in great shape all around, the only issue is the waist and you can really only tell from the inside. There are no other modifications I can find. Happy to provide any photos you’d like. Thinking 200 shipped in the us.

  3. I’ve been looking for new optical glasses as I have a lot of FSA money set to expire in March. Brands I’ve liked: Lesca, Dandy’s, Andy Wolf, Jacques Marie Mage (but $$$). Maui Jim looks nice too, but I wear optical most of the time. When I do contacts and sunglasses, they are a little pricey to risk dropping or damaging whilst adventuring outside.

I bought from ivisionari.com and had a good experience, even with shipping their prices on euro brands are well below what you’d pay over here, and they also take FSA though sunglasses aren’t eligible.

  4. I’m sure some of you have seen this story by now, but a pair of miners pants (some are saying jeans, but the weave looks like 1x1 duck to me) BELIEVED to be made by Levi Strauss himself were recovered from an 1857 shipwreck and sold at auction last week for 95k, I think I saw 120k including buyers premium. They were in a wood chest and in contact with other things, hence the coloration.
The evidence of Mr. Strauss being involved in their manufacture seems flimsy at best-“While the original color of the pants is unknown, the 5-button fly "strongly suggests these were an early manufacture of work pants sold by Levi Strauss," the auction site Holabird wrote.

"The five-button fly is nearly identical, if not technically identical, to Levis of today," the site said.

I’m no expert, but the fly does not appear identical to the Levi’s of today, other than that it has five buttons.

  5. Posting these here- the brand isn’t unknown, but he also doesn’t do much denim, so no point in starting a thread.

Sidnaw Company denim pants, these were released about a year ago as a limited run. It’s a 16.5 oz Cone Mills denim that was then waxed by Fairfield Textiles, cut and sewn by Rusty himself. All single needle, so lacking some features you’d expect like chain stitching or bartacks. Cool copper hardware all backed with leather. Cut is fuller and roomy.

I’ve only seen waxed denim in the context of fashion, so thought this would be an interesting pair. And behold, waxed denim does fade, albeit more slowly. It also seems to be darkening in places, as you normally see on waxed fabrics that are lighter in color. Wearing these for the indigo invitational. At ~170 days before a rewax using Martexin:

  6. Saw this recently posted video of Kaoru, who makes the M-54 model and probably some other stuff too as the “2nd generation”. Shot in real time for the most part, looks like it takes about an hour per pair, not including cutting the fabric. Same user also has a few other videos of CSF jeans.

  7. These are certainly nothing special compared to all the cool boots and actual shoes people have posted. I got them because I had an ankle injury and everything else irritated it. Sanuk slip ons in grey canvas, which had faded quite nicely. I didn’t expect that!

  8. Not great mirror shot, but hopefully this gives some idea of the fit. Definitely slimmer and the white fabric is pretty gauzy. I’m 5’10” and 135 lbs, slim/athletic build. Went with a small which is what I take in all tshirts I can think of. It’s a 50/50 cotton poly blend, so hopefully no shrink, but it feels like it’ll stretch right back out too. With the TCB WW2 contest pair and their very high waist.
