I use a Gillette NEW and stick mostly to the Italian soft soaps (Cella, Vitos, etc). They seem to lather the best for me and I'm not a fan of some of the more foo-foo scented soaps.

These aren't heavy duty boots, but i figured i would post them anyway! I just got my new Yuketen Sami moccasins in last week. Ordered through Yuketen's MTO program, which allowed me to get split sizes for my differently sized feet! My best fitting pair of shoes yet.
Can't wait to see how these age, they are made out of Horween's Tan Latigo.
Yuketen has the coolest shoe bags. Looks like the tag is made out of red waxed flesh, which is pretty cool.

Studio D'Artisan Loopwheeled sweat, size XL (as seen here), $145 shipped.
Brand new, only tried on for fit. Super soft and comfy. Too big for me, but I liked it so much I bought it again one size down.
Nicks x VP 8" captoe in snuff rambler, size 10.5D, $440 shipped. Tried on a couple times inside and worn to the grocery store once. I really, really wish these fit because these things are gorgeous. My differently sized feet don't agree with them.0 -

That's a great fit. Looks like your Red Wings could use a resole, though!

Thanks fellas, but there's little spots down the front thighs as well. As I said, it's not bad and really only noticeable to me and no one else. It just bugs me!
This hasn't totally turned me against machine washes, I just think in the future I'll wait until they're a little more faded. These are at a little over 3 months right now.

Thanks guys, I think I'll just stick to hand washing from now on, at least until my jeans have faded to a point that the washer marks won't be an issue!

Damn, decided to test out washing my SD-103s in an actual washing machine (only done hand washes in the tub so far) and I ended up with some unsightly washer marks. Kind of disappointed. It's not terrible, only really noticeable if you're looking for it but it's bothering me.
Anyone have tips on avoiding that? I turned them inside out, ran it on the "delicates" setting and pulled before spin cycle. My washer is an ancient machine in my apartment building, could be that mine doesn't have all the fancy new settings and things that more modern ones do.

d-rew, you and I have nearly the exact same proportions - I'm also 5'10 and ~29" inseam. Stubby leg problems, my cuffs always have to be huge.

Eastland MiM (by Rancourt) Wildwoods. They're a discontinued style, sadly. Rancourt won't make handsewn boots over 5" anymore.

At this point you're just talking over me and not even addressing the issue Garden Gnomes personally had with his pair. These complaints were made not to generally bitch, but to address an actual instance of awful workmanship by an upstart trying to get consumers to pay $400+ for their products.
Is it absurd for the soles to be solely glued on? Yes. Is that what seems to have happened in his case? Yes. Unless I'm not understanding what happened to his pair, that is evidence of more than just a shitty glue job. It's terrble construction!
I'm not sure what you're trying to defend based on what actually seemed to have happened. Maybe Garden Gnomes can shed more light on what actually failed and the full extent of it.
Apologies. You are correct, the focus should be on GG's pair. Without knowing the specifics, however, I'm uncomfortable with the claim that the bottom is simply glued. I've never heard of that before, never seen a complaint of that nature. I'm willing to change my tune but I'd like to see some evidence first.
