  1. Like i mentioned before, I think the main thing is the stitching. The backpockets and the front pockets are stitched by hand using the tendon thread that you find in your wallets. That kind of thread is already next level for wallets, to put it on jeans (handstitched) is just insane. I think it probably takes a long time and I think it's really cool.

I think the denim is the same and you have the arcs and patch which I believe are from the same place ferrari gets their materials but other than that nothing crazy.

I love that about it as well. I don't like the arcs, but otherwise I'm kinda tempted by them.

  2. I hate to say it given the marketing hype. But the regular cut looks pretty nice

Given the photos from the review, there isn't too much to shit talk anymore. Construction is solid. Marketing aside, they seem to be a good product. Not my cup of tea, but definitely a good option for some people.

  3. Some shots from my recent trip up the CA coast to San Francisco with my fiance.

    All 3 shirts are Masterson

    Jacket is my Himel Grizzly

    Tan chinos are Stevenson

    Olive Chinos are RJB

    Lofgren boots

    Self Edge Aizome scarf

    Globe Specs Glasses

    Her beanie is Stevenson

  4. Hey Ed,

I'll try to answer what I understood from your post: I'm not associated with any brand.

Regarding the rest of your "post", I wanna say, maybe?!? There was a lot of motherfucking involved (good on you, I appreciate people with rare hobbies - you must read Oedipus, you'll love that, it's so relevant for people like you), but yeah, I guess you have an opinion, just like anybody else

    I like this guy already

  5. Arguing against the idea that we're too obsessed with story over substance is not an argument I'd want to make!

On the other hand, i do think that Oni, Strike Gold, PBJ, are fundamentally different compared to SDA, Flat Head, Warehouse... in my opinion you could argue that the former are trying to turn denim into something it isn't: a fabric with burlap-sack texture, super bumpy, etc. I think you could take denim from any period and you will never get textures like the former brands, it'd feel much more like the latter.

But I also think it's nice to have improvements and different looks, because if raw denim nowadays was 100% replicated from the 1950s, there's no way I'd be as interested in it as I am now. I love how all the newer legit brands look much more than the old stuff.

And I also really like hank-dyed stuff too, which has a way different texture than the latter brands I mentioned and also from how denim used to be... but I do think that there are real distinctions between brands even in a niche as small as this.

i think you may even be oversimplifying (though I'm sure it was for the sake of brevity).

I Would argue that there are at least 4 or 5 "categories" you could put raw denim into now.

I'm not usually into too much texture like what Oni and PBJ offer, but I will say that my hank dyed pbjs are the most awe inspiring pair of pants I have ever own or even seen.

  6. Kiya, are you willing to say which denim your were wearing for those 3+ years? I did something similar back in the day with some cheap APC (2 1/2 years). This was before I was exposed to better options and out of college lol.

I believe they are Stevenson. He also wore RJB for a couple years straight if I remember correctly. Best faded pair of jeans I have ever seen and inspired me to get my first RJB jeans.

  7. I seriously don't understand the elitism of Superdenim sometimes. The actual users on /r/rawdenim aren't fucking stupid, and no one is falling for Tanuki's bullshit marketing. Are there some people that are giving them a shot? Of course, but that's because they want to evaluate the product and see if behind the gimmicks, there exists a item that's worth having.

I'm with you on this. The elitism is strong on here.

  8. I agree the marketing is a little lame, but if the products are good, I don't really care. Still, there fabrics don't excite me at this point and the fits don't look to be the best for me.

I am really just interested in seeing what actual owners say and how the fades look.

  9. not like in an ok but like should I be looking into lighter color leathers opposed to black or dark brown/red. My dad has never liked me wearing black or dark colors.

IMO you should wear whatever you want. I am of medium brown complexion and I like the look of brown jackets on me.

  10. I definitely follow more of a 2010 type approach to my jeans.

I have NEVER washed my jeans in a machine and never plan to. With unsanforized jeans, I hot soak for a total of a couple hours before wearing and when I do wash, I only tub wash with woolite dark. I usually take at least 8-10 months to wash my jeans, but not because I want super high contrast fades.

My job does not allow me to wear jeans except on Friday and I spend a lot of time in shorts and a t shirt on my computer at home after work. In addition to this I have quite a few pairs of denim, chinos, etc that I wear as well so my main pair only gets about 10-12 hours of wear a week.

In addition, I do not like to wash my denim much because I like my jeans to stay dark for as long as possible, not necessarily because I want crazy fades.

For example, my main pair has been my RJB 103bsp for the past 9 months and I have not washed them yet, but honestly they probably only have 2-3 months effective wear so far.

  11. ^ Pics? :)

    Breaking 4 digits though...

For that kinda pricing I could get custom leathers from tanneries and get two pairs made by White's, Wesco or Nick's.

    Still, awesome shoes.

my bad, I saw the post below and saw the sneakers. I have those, not the shoes, sorry. I agree with the pricing. If I'm going over a grand, I spend my dough on engineer boots.
