What's the general consensus here about sizing difference between PBJ and TFH ? I wear a size 27 xx005 and I was about to order the 3001 in the same size but I have been told to size up one.

Looking at Rivet & Hide size chart, if I compare size 28 (they don't stock 27 for neither 3001 nor xx005) the measurements are roughly the same (only 0.15" smaller in the thighs for the 3001). Another model for comparison would be the momotaro 0701, 28 was a bit big unfortunately so 27 would also most likely be my size if they made it.

These are popular cuts so if someone has both to compare .

Yes I know, I meant with others brand than PBJ.

They're slightly different  cuts. The XX005 tapers more on the thighs until the knees. The Momo 701 has got more room everywhere making then more a tigh straight cut than a slim one.

 

Here are mine after 1.5 years of wear for each. Both s29.

Measured the difference at knees. There's 1.8 cm. 

 

You should probably consider another cut/brand if you want something slimmer. Hope this helps.

Any recommendation ? I was thinking maybe xx-007 but others brands might have some cuts close to xx-005 too. Flat head 3001 looks quite slim but I'm not a big fan of the zip, Strike Gold maybe but denimio doesn't stock it anymore unfortunately.

I don't think the knee/thigh area is to big, imo they fit pretty good before soaking.

How is the upper thigh/waist?

 

Waist is good, half an inch larger but it should shrink and be good. Compared to my XX-005, upper thigh +1", knee +2".

Is this pre or post soak? if this is presoak IMO it looks pretty good but id only expect to lose about 3/4" through the leg. If you're concerned that may not work then you could send them back for a size down and not go super hot and aggressive for the soak.

 

Those are pre soak pictures. Basically I have +1" in the upper thigh and +1,75-2" in the knee area. I come from a pair of XX-005 that I really love so I knew the knee would be bigger but BiG measurements said 3/4" only so unless they shrink a hell of a lot it's actually much more than that .

I just received some 701 and I'm just wondering if I should make 1-2 hot soaks for max shrinkage or send it back. Waist isn't a problem, legs aren't either, but thighs and knees fit really big.

Losing 1" in the upper thigh should be good, though I may not lose 1" in the lower thigh/knee area and even with 1" it might still be big. The 3/4 is blurry but it shows well the excess in fabric.

Those do look great, but I'm not digging the green stitching for the arc. Thats just personal preference though. Well its just a prototype so there is a possibility it'll change.

 

The last time we heard about this collab from Denimio, they said they were still undecided whether to go for blue/green arcs or stealth arcs.

I contacted Denimio a few days ago to know when one item would be back in stock and I seized the opportunity to ask if it was still the case, they answered me that the arcs would indeed be blue. I'm personally not a big fan either, hidden arcs or darker ones would have been so much better i think.

It was a kickstarter project from Kendall & Hyde.

Not much PBJ love these days.

 

XX-005 with around 6 months of effective wear. The sun makes the contrast more pronounced.

Do any of you happens to have both PBJ xx-005 and Momotaro 0701 ?

 

I hesitate between buying the 0701 in size 28 or 29.

28 has a raw waist of 29-29,5". BiG and Blue Owl list the shrinkage at 1-1.5", getting back to raw size with wear (which is the size of the waist on the jeans I already own). But there was a comment in the early pages from someone whose jeans shrinked from 29 to 27.5" which might be tough to stretch back as Momotaro don't stretch like crazy apparently (1" in waist from resellers). Also I need thigh of 10.6" and BiG list thigh at 10.75" raw / 10.5" OW whereas Blue Owl list it at 10.25" raw .

29 has a waist of 30, so going back to raw size with wear will be too much if it only shrink to 29".

All these difference in sizing are very confusing as usual, I thought it might be easier to ask people who also had a xx005 what size they had with both.

 

EDIT: I have xx-005 in size 27, with wear waist is 29,5" and thigh is 10.6".

Well I finally had time to soak my pair of xx-005 this week-end, 2 hot soaks of 45min each in the hope to get all the shrinkage out and was actually surprise as it didn't shrink that much after all: -1" in the waist, -1.25" for the inseam, -0.5" in the thighs, -0.3" for the knee/leg opening. I started wearing them a little and the waist quickly stretch back to what's needed .

Now these need to be broken in !

Well shipment has arrived and I picked the wrong size unfortunately, it's raw, very tight and I can't button. I'm torn between sizing up one or two. Sizing up one is a waist of 29,5 raw (I'm 29,2") and add 65mm to the thigh and leg which seems fine if it goes back to raw measurements. On the other hand sizing up two would perhaps be more comfortable but a waist of 30,5" seems risky.

Beside that, the fabric is really (reeeaaaally) awesome !

Don't get me wrong but Japan Blue and Momotaro are two different brands (or aren't they ?)

But otherwise Denimio's prices are indeed unbeatable, plus they offer a great service

Quick question here: when buying a one-wash jean, is it safer to wash it a second time by myself to be sure to avoid further shrinking in the future ?

I bought my first pair or raw denim almost a year ago (APC NS) and I wanted to try something else because it starts to fade quite alright now !

PBJ caught my eyes (along with TFH actually), but on the severals website I tried, the sizing always change.

I'm rather thin (1,70m / 55kg) and I bought my NS in size 25 (I am a true waist size 29"). So I was thinking of buying a pair of XX-005 in size 26, what I am looking for is a waist of 29" and thigh of 26.5cm (10.40-50") after stretching.

 

On the official website/denimio/okayama denim, the waist after one wash is 70cm (27.5") so I guess I can expect it to stretch up to 29" ? But on BiG store, waist for size 26 is 26.5" after one wash which is way less .

Same for the thigh: official website says 26cm (10.25") after one wash, denimio and okayama denim says 25.5cm (10") and BiG says 9.75cm (9.75")...

There is no size 25 so I don't believe BiG made a mistake picking up sizes but that confuses me.

 

I am from France so I will have to order internationaly no matter what shop I choose and therefore can't return the product.

Measurements of my APC NS size 25 after 9 months of wear and one wash last month (taken accurately):
waist: 74 (29" so far from the actual taged size !), fits me perfectly as 29 is my waist size

thigh: 27 (10,63")
knee: 18,5 (7,3")
leg opening: 17,75 (7")

I found the size chart for the raw jean on contextclothing but I'm having doubt about it. Unfortunately I didn't take measurements when I bought it but I don't have the impression it stretched THAT much, also I could button up the jeans even if it was thight, so 26" as a waist size seems really low. I did not find others raw measurements for size 25 on the internet though, so if anyone has a size chart from another source...
