^Interesting. What size do you wear? Mine are a 30, but you appear to be a lot taller than me, which could explain the cut sitting differently.

There's a fit pic of mine on the previous page. Taper is quite noticeable even when hemmed short (mine are right around 28")

On the topic of small pocket openings--maybe kobayashi just has tiny hands and now we're all dealing with the result!!!

I don't find the pockets themselves too small, but the way the pocket openings are cut is really awkward. I wonder what reason they had for that design, as it seems they typically put a lot of thought into every detail of their products. 

Some photos of my 714 Valencia. 11ish months of intermittent wear, lots of hand washes, and 1 machine wash so far. 

Perhaps a hot machine wash will do the trick? Unless it is just a matter of the cut not working

Is anyone able to comment on sizing the 60s jeans relative to fh 3009 or Stevenson 714? I wear a 32 in flat head and a 30 in Stevenson. I'm thinking 32 for the 60s but it's hard to tell based on sizing charts I've seen online.

Ah well, whatever the cut ends up being ill probably still be in since the denim and details are rad. Only real deal breaker for me is diamond arcs

^ really depends on one's height Ben. I'm 5'6" so my 3009 have an 8.1 inch hem (size 32) due to being hemmed to 27 inches (an accident, actually. 28 would've been better). The taper is more noticeable at longer lengths. Once hemmed up the jeans only taper about half and inch from knee to hem

Has it been pretty much decided to move towards a straight fit a la 3005 even though it sounds like a custom cut is happening? I ask because all the details Ed put forth above sound awesome but I really need a little taper. Even the 3009 is fairly wide at the the hem for my taste, but the 3005 or any cut with a similar hem width is too much.

I don't post a ton but I'm down for this, assuming price isn't astronomical. I've got a pair of 3009 that I hemmed a bit too short and I'd like to try again because I like the cut. Also I accidentally neg repped hoggreaser while scrolling a bit ago, sorry man!

your pants, at 35" in the waist, look too small, so I would probably go with a 36 in flat heads, which run true to size
