Nitty Gritty styling at its finest

Yeah, seeing that didn't fill me with confidence about how I'll look when I get mine.

But I like to think I won't make it look that bad.

  2. Anyone else with the J34-GTPL find that there is an excess of material under the pit area in and around the hand warmer pockets? Is this intended or am I just not filling it properly for this particular size?

I can't comment from personal experience, but I suspect it's there to give you a better range of motion in your arms.

  3. Yup, second that! Truly awesome fabric in person. Much more classy look than Stotz, without losing that ACR edge.

It's not just the fabric either. If you look closely at the two, the LP has fewer lines and details, giving it a much cleaner look. For instance,

    13.jpg08.jpg

Definitely a more traditional look on the LP, but I went with S for the interops and stormhood (and honestly, the price).

  4. Was planning to get a 3A-1 but doesn't seem to be in the collection anymore. Anybody know why, will it return?

     cheers

It hasn't been restocked. 3A stuff isn't being produced at the same time as regular season kit. Last time 3A-1 was restocked was a year ago actually.

  5. By the way, does anyone know what the tiny Velcro tabs on the sleeves, just below the elbows, are for?

I know that they're called 'sleeve hitch tabs'. Still no idea how they work.

  6. It has been clear over the past few seasons that 3A stuff is basically decoupled from the various seasonal collections and on a different schedule. That's probably just pragmatic as its manufactured by Bagjack and not in Sumperk. Synchronizing those is probably more of a headache than its worth. Also, it seems ACRNM.com is the only place that will sell 3A (left over inventory with vendors notwithstanding).

I would love to see some new 3A stuff myself. Mostly I'd love a fastener at the rear bottom left of jackets that connects to the bag, keeping it in place, much like cross-strap would, but without the need for such a long piece of webbing. It would just need a small piece of webbing on the rear of the bag to connect it to. Something Fidlock-ey perhaps. Also a solution for cameras would be nice, as would a sunglasses module.

Neat idea, but the jackets would need to be compatible with the bag for that to work. Maybe there's some solution that could work using just the bag, that way it would work even if you're wearing an older jacket, or no jacket at all. Perhaps it could clip onto the keeper on your belt? Some kind of fidlock attachment where you loop one end through you belt/keeper and put the other end in the bottom left corner of the bag.

  7. i believe this refers to the arm pouches from around 2004 right?

kindve hard to believe they would slap those things on these jackets unless they are planning to rerelease those small bags. am I correct to assume its leather? I'm also surprised that the official acr copy for each product doesn't make reference to this feature.

there's a small strapped pouch from that season which resembles the vis medicine pouch in form that I would shell out for.

Actually, the J1A-S does make a mention:

_Re-designed double sleeve in artificial [ launderable ] leather

The J38-S doesn't mention it, but it's safe to assume it's the same material.

  8. I was really looking forwards to (and expecting) a restock of the 3A-1 or 3A-3TS. I'm kind of surprised they haven't been stocked in so long. When did the last wave of new 3RDARM designs come out?

  9. Haven listing a waist of 42, ACR listing 39 (in the S size).....

I ordered the P10 in M even though my legs match the S description. I bought the P11 a while back in S and it fit standing, but sitting I got like 4 inches of ankle flesh. Playing this one on the safe side.

  10. ups just drove by to drop my acr fw1314 1.11kg/1keuro parcel. worth the wait again ;)

Well, as the first one here I do believe it's your duty to post pictures for all of us to drool over.

  11. shit. to be honest thats bad news to me. because now i have to have it haha.

So, the J32-GT and J36-GT are almost the same price, but the 36 has interops and the front pocket. What makes you want the J32 over the 36? The fast hood, perhaps?

  12. ^ The sleeve patch on the J38-S reminds me of recent SISP.

Does anyone know what the purpose of the sleeve sheath is on the J1A-S and J38-S?

I'm used to looking at each element on an ACRNM design and seeing that it has some purpose for being there; nothing superfluous.

  13. That video (;゚д゚) ・・・  (;゚д゚) ・・・  (;゚д゚) ・・・

    J38-S looks nice. Everything does.

I love that the 38-S has Interops as well. Just nice addition. I'm sceptical of the sleeve though. Still not sure what to make of that patch.

I own both. Look wise, the P9 might seem "regular" but functionally it's very different from "regular" pants. When I switch to "regular" pants again, I always notice the additional resistance at the knee, because other pants aren't articulated. Also, the phone pocket may seems like a small detail but I hate not having it on other pants.

The P10 shares a lot of these features with the P9 of course. Ask yourself what kind of shoes you wear though and how you like the pant to fall on that. The P10 will fit on the inside of high boots (like Visvim 7Holes or Virgils or Stone Island/Diemme boots). With low tops it'll stop short so you see the entire shoe with no drape (at least in my case). The P9 works well with sneakers/trainers but not so well with dressier shoes (IMHO) because of the looser fit. Mind you it can be done at pinch but it's not my favorite look. This is all just my preference and yours might be different. Still, how it pairs with shoes is an important part of the choice for me between wearing the one vs. the other.

Unfortunately for me, the phone pocket is useless. I'm left handed, and my phone always goes in my left pocket. If I try to grab it with my right I'll drop it (I own another set of pants with the same type of phone pocket, luckily on those it's on both sides). I don't own any high boots, just a few sneakers and VFFs (and a low-top boot), so the P10 would look fine. I like the look of it with a trainer.

  14. Hi Syphon,

Stotz would to retain water resistance over time, since this is mostly a result of the long staple cotton itself. The idea is that the cotton swells up and locks out water coming through. The fabric itself gets wet as a result of course, but water doesn't stream through.

    Also, it dries pretty quickly.

On top of this, some water repellant coating (DWR) is applied. This basically causes water to roll off, at least initially.

The coating should, according to the label, be reapplied after 5 washes. Not sure where you get it, but then I haven't looked.

I've been wearing my P9S for almost year before sending them off to the dry cleaner. I just hang them to air out every time and that seems to be enough. No odor issues. YMMV.

As for fading, the initial wash seems to add a slight sheen to the fabric. Nothing too concerning. Like everything, it will fade but much less so than Epic does, at least in my experience.

Seriously, they're awesome pants. Get them, they won't disappoint (assuming they fit for you :) ).

    -Thijs.

Thanks for the info Tao, Stotz definitely sounds like a fine fabric. The only decision left really is P9 or P10. I'm leaning towards P10 because the P9 is a pretty regular look, and I could get a similar looking pant elsewhere.

Also I'm undecided between the 3A-1 and the 3A-3TS. That might come down to price at the end of the day.

  15. Quick questions for people familiar with Stotz:

Does it retain water resistance over time?

If no, how do you reactivate it?

Does washing it fade the colours?

And finally, how do you keep Stotz pants 'fresh' without washing?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

  16. Love the new instructional!!

Much better than SS13, I hope this style (SS12) becomes the ACRNM standard.

    So I'm thinking, SS-J25, NTS-NG1 (white), J1A-S, J38-S, P9-S and a 3A-1.

  17. For those who can see the future, is there any chance of a WS-J25-type garment appearing on/before FW1314?

I know it is at a flog-a-dead-horse-level at this point. Outside of bottoms though, it's probably the only truly apt piece of ACR gear for the tropics.

    ^I'm with Willy.

Living in the tropics, 7 months of the years its either 30c, storming, or both. I need me a stowable PacLite!

    No sets in FW1314

I don't care if it's not a set, all that I need is a convertible pant/short. Am I out of luck?

  18. In fw1314 should be smth like set-2 or it's only your suggestions?

    I've got no idea what's in FW1314, I just hope there's something like SET-2.

I don't expect it, mind you. SET-2 was in a summer season. What I'm really hoping for is a convertible pant/short. The closer to SET-2 the better, but I'll take what I can get. The design is very practical for my climate.

  19. acrnm.com reads: FW-1314 Available 02.10.13 18:00 CET

This time doesn't suit me at all :(

Last two seasons launched around midnight CET, which was 8AM where I am. Perfect time to get it right at the drop. This time it will be 2AM. I'm contemplating getting up early to not miss this.

I'm looking out for CP3. My imagination runs wild trying to figure out how they'll top CP2/CP1...

I'm hoping it's closer to the CP1 than CP2. As cool as CP2 was, it's not something I would ever wear, it's just too unorthodox. CP1 was subtle enough to get away with.

I'll be grabbing a traditional jacket (J1A remix), a softshell hoodie (like the HD2 or J25), a blazer (preferably one of the cheaper type, like the DS-J5, not the LP) and finally some type of pant (SET-2 style convertible preferably, failing that something in WB-400). Throw in a 3A-1 or 3A-3TS and I should be set for a long, long time.

  20. SS14 not being produced rumour... Anyone know more?

    Damnit, really?

I really want a Set-2 and WS-J25 (doesn't everyone?) and I don't expect one from the FW collection. I hope this isn't true.
