  1. I completely forgot to post this, last week I did an "acronym wash" (somehow in my mind it feels like a momentous occasion?) and put my new P9/P14/P15-CH through the wash.

Very pleased to report that Black 3XDRY COTTON | NYLON STRETCH does not appear to fade like other lightshells! Admittedly, I've only ever washed Epic before and I know that it immediately (as in, after 1 wash) shows signs of fading/age. CH on the other hand, does not. Washed and irons up very nice and still looks like new. Very happy with this stuff for now. The grey melange isn't going to ever really show age, but black usually does, so it's nice to see it still looking right.

In other news, I wanted to ask the community here what kinds of Acronym garments they would like to see, but don't exist. Something you've always wanted but has never been made. Maybe someone from Arconym reads this thread and will consider it as a future project.

For instance, I've always wanted a P10-X. The P10 is one of my favourite styles and X-Fast is my favourite textile. I'd love to see them come together.

  2. Sorry lads, completely forgot to reply to this

    Hey Sypron,

thanks a lot for sharing your insights!
I am thinking about ordering a P10-CH as well but still a little unsure about the size. Could send a brief comment on the waist measurement? Is it as mentioned on the store website?

Would be the first acr pants for me. Usually i am waist 30 inch, size S. The mentioned 39 cm waist could be a little too tight.

    Thanks!

I usually wear 32 for jeans, but I can wear 30 if it's more suitable (for trousers, for instance). I went with the medium for the leg length. Small acronym pants are simply too short for me, and leave my ankles exposed (not a good look). cmdR knows what he's talking about.

    Fit pics please!

Hopefully I can get some good ones for you soon, but it is a standard P10, so there's lots of pictures around.

Sypron, which 3xDry material do you think is better for summer? I'm thinking the SS-12 version might be cooler still.

Tough call. The differences between them are very slight. If someone told me the tag is a misprint and the two fabrics are actually the same I would believe them.

However, I feel like the SS12 one is slightly thicker, slightly more insulative, and slightly stretchier. The new P14 and P15 just feel that much lighter and more flexible. Could be my imagination though.

  3. Nice kit!

I'm actually trying to find a particular type of item to augment my loadout right now. I have no idea where to buy something like this, maybe someone would have an idea.

What I'm looking for is a band of 25mm webbing, about 10cm long, with a slotted loop at one end and a loop at the other. Here's a pic explaining what I'm after.

Basically It's for connecting another loop item to my belt. This just threads through both and connects back to itself. Any ideas on where I could get one?

  4. So I just got my P10. I wasn't planning on doing another post for it at first but this one has some nice surprises!

    What's this?

Carabiner! Not sure if people who bought the P10-E got these, but I am stoked. The carabiner was left out of the FW-1314 edition P10-S, glad to see it makes a return.

And not any carabiner either, this one is special.

Took me a while to get the hang ofthe mechanism.

On the side it reads "ITW Nexus NA". A quick search leads to the manufacturer and the product: GrimLoc. ITW also made the previous carabiner, the Tac Link.

It actually has an internal loop which can be used to securely affix it to 25mm webbing. It's not easy to attach but once it's on, it's good and tight.

    Back to the P10-CH:

So the composition of this doesn't match the P14 and P15. This is the same as the old P9/SP9 from SS-12.

Fits like the other P10s. All in all, a fantastic pant. Would definitely recommend, and would certainly recommend a GrimLoc to anyone who has a P10 already.

  5. As promised, fit pic:

Sorry about the quality of my 'mirror'. I'm going to try and get some more photos to better demonstrate the fit but as you can see, it is pretty narrow. More so than the P11, IMO.

Still, I absolutely love them. I feel very comfortable in them, not just physically but psychologically. You know how sometimes when you're wearing something super precious you feel delicate with it? Like you don't want it to get damaged or dirty or stretched? I don't feel like that with the grey melange. It doesn't get marked or scuffed because of the colour (or maybe it does, but you can't see it). It doesn't ever feel like it's being stretched or pulled because of the superb fit. I just throw it on with any shoes and any shirt and I'm good to go.

  6. Just got my P14, suppose I should do another one of these...

Always fun to open these up

First a look at the material in detail. It's the same as with the black P15-CH, just in grey. Definitely has a different feel to it than SS12's CH, much lighter and thinner.

A peek at the tag. STEPPIN RAZOR. Same as the P8TS-X. As you can see, this one does have the white-and-olive band around the inner hem. I think the P15 didn't because of the cinching mechanic.

Same composition here as in the P15.

No fit pics this time, sorry. Maybe I'll do some tomorrow if people would like them. What I can say is that it fits slimmer than I was expecting. I was hoping it would have a similar appearance to the P9-CH but it's too slim on me through the calf for that look. Sizing up with this one won't hurt if you want that kind of look, just use a belt to pull in the extra width.

  7. Does anybody know what sort of warranty you get with a acrnm shell

I have a fw12/13 that a lot of,the seams tape is coming loose

I have sent it to scottish mountain gear to get a full re tape done, they do warrenty repairs with other brands like arcteryx , mountain equipment etc

    Can anybody help?

  8. Ignore my previous post. I was under the impression that the new black CH was simply the grey CH from SS-12. Not the case.

My P15-CH just arrived today, and just like TaoSpace says it's different than other previous materials. It's definitely a lightshell, unlike the SS-12 CH which I would have personally called softshell. Very lightweight and thin, seems like it will be a good weight for the heat.

I haven't had a real chance to wear it or stress test it yet, so no word on repellency or breathability. One thing I can say is that it scuffs very easily. Mine is already marked from being in the bag with the spec sheet. I'm sure it will wash out, but it's that type of material which gets white marks when it rubs against some surfaces.

I don't want to wear it out yet though. I might downsize from medium to small. I don't want to sacrifice the leg length but it doesn't stay up even with the draw cord cinched and knoted. Putting a second belt on might fix it.

    Photos should come tomorrow.

  9. Water repellency: Yes

Drying time: Very long (after full saturation).

I washed lots of my ACR stuff recently. Fastest drying time was Dryskin and X-Fast. Middle was SS-13 CH. Slowest was SS-12 (SS-14) CH. The cotton content makes it hold water for a while. Comparable to a jean.

EDIT: Ignore this, see next post.
