  1. I don't mean to sound like a broken record, but as per usual my question is: how does it stand up to wearing and washing? Will it fade? Will it 'patina'?

    Other thoughts on this season,

I like it. I think more than you guys do maybe.

J41 seems like an absurd gimmick, but I like that they at least tried making a drop in jacket. Kudos for that. WTF, no gravity pockets?

J1A-LP has finally got an upgraded hood. I've always thought that single-fold hood looks a bit weird when donned. The multi-fold design is much nicer.

J40 is a fantastic design. On the surface it does look simple, but it would go really well with a softshell hoody like the J25-SS. It would be nice if it had a collar though. But holy fuckballs is it expensive! Even for acronym. Should be half that price.

J43 looks well considered. Even if it's a little more minimal than its big brothers the J36 and J28, it brings some important improvements. The hood looks seriously stormproof. Also, having those snap toggles up at the highest point of the collar is fantastic for interops. The J21 suffers from having the collar flap about and open when using interops since the zip can't close all the way. No gravity pockets is a massive WTF.

P16A is a nice looking casual pant. Good contrast to the professional and clean design of the P14 from last season. Probably the only thing I'll cop this season. But the hem is even smaller than the P14, which was already too small. What do they think we wear these with? The pant is supposed to go over the shoe, not cut off circulation to the foot. Also, inseam and outseam are both ~8cm shorter than P14. What the hell is going on?

  2. Needs some softshells. What kind of winter seasons is it without softshells?

So anyway, does anyone know what's going on with this zipper construction (pic)?

Looks like 3 zippers but I only know what one does.

  3. Yeah, they get it wrong all the time. The firmament guy used to have it over his left arm.

You can sometimes get your arm through it on the left while you're putting the jacket on. It's not uncomfortable, works just as well as having it behind. It actually makes it impossible to get the plastic buckle stuck between your back and a chair (which is sometimes annoying).

  4. I'm really hoping for a nice casual softshell jacket, like the DS-J5 or CH-J3B. Something that works equally well with a t-shirt and sneakers as it does with a button-down shit.

  5. I haven't had a real chance to take pictures of the SET-1 yet, but here's the bags and stuff.

The SET bag contains all the components of the SET. They're each treated as if they're their own products (in many ways, they are).

    General thoughts:

Since I couldn't get my hands on a SET-1 before now, I instead opted to buy the E-J21 and DS-SL1 last year (my first acrnm items). There's definitely some key differences. This is also the oldest acrnm item I own, and you can see some of the older and more primitive design elements in it.

    GT-J21

The first thing I noticed was the Gore-Tex Active Shell. Noticeably lighter and thinner than current generation GT-Pro Shell. It fits somewhere between Pro Shell and Windstopper Active Shell in terms of both weight and stiffness. Definitely a fantastic summer textile. A real treat to wear and I can't wait until the weather warms up a bit and the rains roll around. There are a few small details different than in the E-J21. The interops zip and pocket zips are 3mm, rather than 5mm. Also the pockets are mesh-lined rather than in the E-J21 where they're face-fabric lined. There are also a few differences from the promo pictures. In the picture the pockets are much higher up than they are in the final product. Also, there are no shockcords on the front of the hood, instead they are on the back of the hood where all modern items place it.

    X-SL1

Not much to say about these. Same as the DS-SL1 but in X-Fast, obviously.

    3A-SA

I feel like there was a missed opportunity with the 3A-SA. It has this construction where the entire thing opens up. Importantly, the bottom drops out when the bag is opened. This means it's no good for carrying anything but the jacket, since anything else would drop straight out of the bag when you went to retrieve it. Other than that, the size is perfect, the internal pockets are perfect. It's just unfortunate that they didn't design it to be a true bag. You can fit an 8-inch tablet in there though. There's an external pocket which is just big enough. I would put it on the inside, but the jacket would fall out every time I tried to retrieve it.

    More coming soon.

  6. I'm just going to ping this one again in case there's even a remote chance it will interest someone:

Does anyone have a SET-3 in MEDIUM or LARGE they'd like to trade for a SMALL?\

Also, E-J21 (small) and DS-SL1 (large) now up for sale.

  7. I've washed some CH items. The grey melange doesn't fade. The black might, but it definitely doesn't as much as Epic.

I've been wearing my CH every day since I bought them, and it's currently winter here in Queensland. That means 18c-23c days. CH is nice and breathable, and warm enough when it's cooler in the mornings. No idea what it's like in real cold.

  8. I'm thinking of doing a vinegar soak on my new LA4-BR to colour-set the dye. Has anyone tried doing this before? Apparently it stops the item from fading over time when it gets washed.

  9. I imagine some people (sane people) might want to try on a $800 jacket before buying it.

Yes, I know you can get refunds if things don't fit. Shipping and taxes is still expensive and time consuming.

  10. Question for those who own a J29-GT:

Can you really pack the hood into the sleeve pocket, and more importantly would it be possible if the fabric was normal GT instead of Paclite?

I want to get a J38-GT and I'm curious if packing the hood will be possible.
