  1. I don’t think it’s the same fabric unless left field is missing some info or getting some wrong. Iron heart’s shirt was a 10oz indigo dyed selvedge flannel while left field’s is 13oz with no other details mentioned.

it just seems like such a random post to me…do they think they’re losing a lot of market share to iron heart that they felt strong enough to post that? I get that iron heart is popular and expensive so there are huge fans and huge haters alike. I’m used to seeing people take their sides all over the internet but it’s weird to see a brand do it publicly. Also anytime i hear brands do the whole “we make the same thing but cheaper” thing, it gives me flashbacks of the great kickstarter denim companies gold rush era.

I can't get into it now, but TFH THC tees are by far the best I've found, for my tastes, as far as fabric, fit, details, construction, and longevity.

I recently tried a Merz 215 in XXL / 8 and was very disappointed.

I've had this discussion with a few people over the last year and it seems like people who are huge fans of the THC shirts dont end up liking the Merz 2-thread tshirts which I think makes sense bc they're quite opposite from each other. The THC fabric is on the stiffer side, barely any stretch to them, and the construction esp at the neck is over engineered and on the tighter side whereas the Merz 2 thread fabric is lighter feeling and def  stretchier and the neck is wider.

I almost exclusively wore THC tshirts for a long time but now I find that while I do appreciate them and wear them still, I dont really gravitate towards them as much these days. I wear my warehouse and merz tshirts way more. I actually didnt like the merz at first when I bought it in 2015/2016 because but then tried it again when they reworked the pattern and fabric to have more predictable shrink and now they're amount my favorite tshirts because they're way more comfortable to me. THC tshirts just feels like wearing super heavy raw jeans...it's really impressive but when it comes down to it, I grab the comfier stuff more....maybe that means soon I'll be wearing only athleisure and yoga pants.

Nice, thanks. I have a couple of their heavyweight Henleys and they're great, haven't every checked out their tees though.

I am a big fan of their 2-thread tshirts (models numbers that start with "2"). The 214 models which are more relaxed cut are my favorite. The 215 classic fit models got a fit update a couple years ago and fit way better than before. It's still a tad slim for me but sizing up works if I cant find the same fabric/color in the 214. I have a ton of tshirts from a bunch of brands but basically live in merz, warehouse and flat head tshirts.

  4. That is pretty low for most standard thigh measurements but it seems like this guy is just going to measure wherever he can to get the measurements that prove that you're wrong. that sucks. eBay probably will side with him. I had a guy once buy a pair of pants from me, didnt say a word about having an issue,  tried to resell it again bc it didnt fit a few weeks later, and then when it didnt sell, he somehow complained that I sold him a pair the was modified and got his money back. so awesome.

  5. Another update 4 months later on this pair of Stevenson jeans. It’s lightened up a lot but the photos do look a little lighter than in real life . These probably get a weekly wash at this point. Kids and animals are disgusting.

  7. When I first got into it, I was all about the arcs. I was especially into the Strike Gold arcs (still have a soft spot for those arcs) but generally now I prefer no arcs or a very simple single stitch design.

I think I stared at the flat head arcs of my 3009 for too long one day and decided that it was too much for me and that I prefer to not have it and that's just stuck with me. I never cared much for having Levis arcs on them but the red tabs are cool esp when they're ripped up and worn in with the rest of the jeans. I did like how stevenson did the arc on their 210/220 jeans. I think it was slightly polarizing but I appreciate the simplicity and humor in how they did it.

  8. yeah the arm hole width does play into it as well...very true about all the variables that are not reflected in given measurements making a noticeable difference. Obviously best if you you can try it in person, but if you're deciding between 38 and 40 and you're usually a 42 in Japanese brands, I do feel pretty confident that 38 is going to be on the small side.

Some questions to the SC type 2 owners:
    1. Does it shrink- most shops say, that it's "washed unsaforized" and thus shouldn't shrink, but a number of people here have written, that they shrunk it.

    2. Does it fit quite big?
I normally wear 42, but here 40 would work for sure, and for a snug fit even 38 migth work.
    What are your experiences?
38 would be great as it is short. 40 with around 65cm in length would be too long for what I'm looking for.

I found with my own SC jackets (I had the type II with the 14.25oz fabric and also the type I awa-shoai jacket) only shrank a little bit with a cold gentle wash and air dry. I have 1947 which is the same fabric as the type II and with a warm wash and machine dry (or dry in the sun) it shrank like a half size overall with a little more in length. They do fit bigger so it's not unusual to size down from other Japanese brands but I dont know about two sizes down. you may fit it but it seems like it'd be snug and short. I'd personally go with 40 and then if you need, give it a warm machine wash and see where that gets you.

@rockon99 How did you size your BSPOW’s?

looking at the size charts I’m either a tag size 34 or 36. I need a 33” waist.
are they really that undersized or do they sit up high?
I typically buy a 33 or 34 tag, my TCBs are a 34 with space in the waist and so are my Momos.
    any advice appreciated.

    @youngofthesoonest - any tips?

they do run small so it's not unusual to need to size up 1 or 2 depending on the desired fit...the first model on the product page, I believe we sized him up 2 so it's got a little more room in the leg while the second model, David, he only sized up 1 for a trimmer fit. the waist will stretch decently so it just comes down to how slim you want to go. I generally advise people to size up 2 bc you can always wash it on a warmer cycle and/or dry in the machine to get it to shrink down if needed. With a cold wash and air dry, the shrink for this fabric is mostly in length. I've gotten my last pair of okinawas to shrink almost a size with a hot machine wash and dry cycle.

In hindsight I wish I didnt do that bc my body decided to expand and I'm apparently preshrunk so there's no getting smaller for me.

@youngofthesoonest i'm assuming this is the heavy weight merz hoodie. did it shrink much in the length after washing? i really want one

Yeah it is. I’ve only cold washed and air dried once so the shrink was a little under an inch in the length? I’m assuming it’ll shrink a little more later with  a few more washes. I also sized up bc i know at some point, it’ll get dried. Im a big fan of it. It’s heavy but the fabric has some give which is nice for a pullover.

  12. It's pretty impressive that the person sewing the jeans up noticed the uneven panels and made the effort to adjust the seam allowance so that the legs still came out even. It can be seen as one of the perks of working with a respected factory that isn't high pressure churning out product as fast as they can...My guess is that the panel size difference was within the factory's standards so it's up the sewer to make the adjustments so the final product fit as expected.  Personally the aesthetics of it wouldn't bother me but I can understand if it did bother someone else.
