  1. nice pics Bobbo!

yeah I second Paul T's wish of seeing some vintage Swedish steel. You have to do it us for us! I'd be all happy even with random pics of Volvo 240's covered in rust and laying somewhere in the Swedish countryside. nothing makes me more happy than this!

  2. Howdy all!

Unfortunately my new chamber music festival job had forced me to wear slacks, ties and loafers more than I like. I still wear regularly the TCB's as much as I can, and love them more than ever.

My plan for the summer will be to ban the word shorts from my dictionary and just wear these jeans all the time a more formal attire is not asked for! Ball's sweat and frequent washes hopefully will do it for me haha!!

Here's some pics, 9 months, since last photos the jeans had 2 washes I think.

  3. beautiful stuff paolo.

I'll keep my eyes peeled. that's not something you find every other day in pawn shops.

home espresso machines are quite rare to be find in vintage markets and pawn shops.

that baby faema is really cool!

the coolest things I often see here are quickmill grinders, looking great but not good enough for today's standards!

  4. Man there are so many choices out there depending on what you want and how much money you're ready to spend on this!

Stay away from capsule machines unless you plan to use the espresso machine very little. Capsules are crap, they're expensive and seriously polluting, to not mention that you have to stick with very few coffee brands.

Capsule machines are relatively unexpensive but on the long run you'll save more to get a real deal machine and a proper grinder rather than overpay your capsules.

I have a Bacchi which is a rather experimental model, it's a stovetop espresso machine. Takes about 6 mins to pour 1 or 2 cups and can't do any latte foam. If you can deal with it and you can deal with the cost it's a great choice. It's a little finicky to use but with time and patience everybody can learn how to use it.

Other than Bacchi I like manual lever machines, and I really like Pavoni for home use. They're great machines with great design. I have a Pavoni Europiccola as well though I seldom use it now. My wife found it in the garbage years ago and was smart enough to bring it home to me. It turned out that had the resistance broken, an easy fix. Machine itself it's worth around 350 eur! Some f*****g eedjit just threw it away rather than trying to have it fixed.

It takes time and patience to learn to use manual lever coffee machines well but it's totally worth it.

  5. you know Nuala? no way! Did you see her playing in Germany?

We met first at the Rudolstadt folk festival a couple years ago, we absolutely love playing music together.

guy on the right is Cathal McConnell, a singer and flute player from Fermanagh in the north of Ireland. Fantastic musician and a living folk music legend.

Well I've always been a G&T lover, but the way they do it in Scotland with either the Botanist or Hendrick's, tonic and cucumber is another level from the average G&T.

I'l definitely try out your suggestion. Green apple should be great for that I reckon!

  6. Haha he's not with me this time. I am the only paisano here with a new pretty cool multi culti trad flute project, playing at a flute related event for a crowd of at least 80% flautists. As wanker as it can get!

Probably for the first time in years I'll come back from Scotland without hearing any pipes, that's excellent news for my ears health!

  7. Excellent stuff paolo! Your pair looks great! I've been eyeing Alfred Sargent from quite some time. Bullet prof good old English shoes. I've lost an ebay UK for a great pair of their brogues a couple weeks ago ; (

Also, greetings everybody from Edinburgh! I'll post some stuff soon, hope to have time for walking around and taking pics!

  8.

RE: baby jeans.  I saw that Momotaro sold a pair of little kids denim but I cannot find it any longer.  Volvo, if you ever go the TCB route, I'll spring for a pair also!

also, crazy she's walking.  Ours just turned 10 months a week or so ago, and she wants to walk sooo bad but thus far its been just a random standing without support here and there

hey Gnome, she started to walk at 11 months, so you might be right about to see your little one making her first steps. Life got slighty easier since she started to walk, hope it will be the same for you!

re baby jeans: a TCB - sufu bambino jeans bulk order would be the raddest thing ever!

otherwise I know that Porky's make baby size selvedge jeans too.

look here:  http://www.porkys-jeans.com/original.html bottom of the page on the left, 4 different sizes 2,4,6,8. 13K JPY, it's expensive but when buying stuff for my daughter I never I feel as guilty as when I buy for myself!

  9. here's some first hand infos on Porky's 66

    size 34 measurements

waist 91 cm (that's after a couple hours wear, I don't feel they've stretched much)

    front rise 28 cm

    back rise 39 cm

thigh 31,2 cm (measured on the right leg thigh without including the crotch seam)

    hem width 21 cm

    photos!

note: no double chainstitch construction and V stich at top button (not vis)

nice chainstitch hem done by the Porky's boys

    _DSC3737_zps9evriebk.jpg

my favourite detail: dual tone chainstitch hem. that's a thing I like, a nice subdued "under the radar" detail that only the initiated could appreciate!

    fabric details

    _DSC3748_zpsn5ugshe2.jpg

    my opinion

fit: fantastic, they use great patterns which work great for my body type.

construction: very neatly done, immaculate construction

fabric: rather bland fabric, too dark to be a proper 66's homage IMO, not hairy. though it has a nice weight to it and it doesn't feel cheap at all. just lacks a bit of "personality".. we'll see how it will fade. if it does fade anything near the greatness of the Porky's xx samples I've seen I'll be a happy boy.

I think they're a great deal for the money and they fit me probably better than anything else I have, though to really excite me they lack some of the wabi-sabi attention to repro details that the likes of TCB and others have in spares.

Anyway as previously stated i am really happy because i needed a new pair of jeans that could work properly in a business casual kind of work environment and these are perfect for the task.

  10. absolutely perfect Bobbo. your jeggins wearing friend should be either banned from sufu for that fit or at least censored haha, as I've just wrote on the other thread!

I won't send any vino though, the rise on the porky's is perfect for me so that I can keep porky-ing around with my wine and food ahah!

  11. shirt is a JCrew chambray. construction is perfectly done, though it lacks several substantial 66's details (no double chainstitch waistband for example).  fabric is good, thick and soft, but it lacks a bit the feel of a 66's repro. It looks much darker than TCB 60's when new, and it doesn't have that magic pale blue hue.

the best thing for me is absolutely the fit, for the rest it doens't have half of the feel and "soul" of the TCB 60's, but it's fine with me this time. I really wanted a new pair of jeans with a nice trim silhouette and now I have it! I've been comparing measurements everywhere and some other pairs which sported more interesting fabrics (FC, WH, SC and others) were not good for my body measurements, most were either too wide in the thighs or too wide at the hem, or too high rise for my vino drinking belly. I am still on the fence whether to join or not the DWC but should I join I am pretty sure I wouldn't have troubles to wear this pair everyday for a long time. the fit is perfect and I bet it will work with any type of outfit.
