  1. Hey guys, I just picked up a Sugar Cane Type III and thought I'd share some photos. I'm pretty stoked on this — it was a great value, fantastic denim for the money. It's only had about 2-3 days of wear. No soak, but it's a one-wash.

The stitching and hardware are perfect on this. The details make this the best looking Type 3 I've seen on the market. Great photos and great pick up.

  2. Just finished reading through this thread, very cool seeing all the older Kapital denim.

The texture on that Century denim is fantastic. I keep saying these will be my next purchase.

  3. My 009's are finally starting to rip in the crotch and back pocket area. They have around 8ish months of wear with around 7-8 washes. Also took a new fit pic.

Nice to finally see a fit pic with this cut. The other PBJ cuts are a bit slim for my taste. Your pair is coming along nicely.

  4. Anybody currently working on a pair of black sammies?

Saw that scwheel  had a pair of Black Hawks but sold them.

I hany pairs of raws but only 2 on rotation currently, including my S5000BK (Black warp/White weft).

These are my first pair of Sammys and I have to say I love the s5000 fit and their Zero denim is insane. The fabric is so slubby it has completely worn off the hairs at the back of my calves, haha.  :D

I am also impressed with how fast this black denim is fading. There is about 1 month of wear on them and I already have a decent amount of wear on the thighs, crotch, wallet and phone fades on the back pockets, and the hidden rivets will be popping through in no time.

I tried to capture some of the details in these photos from Instagram:

  5. I've been coveting this Chambray from Hudson Hill Overall Co:

There other workshirts are very nice as well.

Some good photos over at Denimbro:

I've seen their shirts in person and they are excellent quality. The standouts in my opinion are the indigo double gauze shirt with red, white and blue chain stitching and their caramel colored shirt.

  6. A bit of evo on my first denim shirt made from 10oz. black warp denim.

It has about 2 months effective wear on it with 2 soaks and 1 machine wash. I’ve worn this fairly hard while camping, hiking and working. Shortly after the first post I added the triangular finishing piece to clean up the collar.

This project taught me a great deal about denim garment construction and helped me come up with the techniques needed to build a much stronger shirt, my latest design for the Eastern. That said, I’ve come to love the flaws including the hole in the left shoulder. Overall, I’m pleased with how much this black denim has faded and the way this shirt has evolved.

  7. I made another denim shirt using a super dark indigo denim from Kaihara Mills. It is 10 oz. with a red line selvedge ID and should yield some nice high contrast fades in the shoulders.

Cuffing the sleeves exposes the selvedge.

  8. Just checked and that's sold out at all our stores.  We're trying to find out if they're doing another run of these, and if they are, we'll have them across all four stores.

Yeah, I figured as much. Thanks for checking Kiya. If there is another run in the future I will have to get in on it.

  9. The reason is because Self Edge bought (nearly) the entire second run.

They're not making any more till later this year (if they do at all).

What do you think the chances are that TSG makes another round of the 51XX denim? The only pair in my size is the 09 fit but I much prefer the fit on my 2105s. I'm starting to regret not copping this crazy denim.

  10. Thank you Cucoo. Check out some of the fabrics I will be releasing this shirt in:

I’ve been a raw denim enthusiast for a few years now and have been unable to find any solid options for a raw denim popover. I decided to take up sewing a year ago in order to learn how to work with this notoriously tough fabric and ultimately create the ideas I had in my head.

The Eastern is the final iteration of my selvedge raw denim popover. This is an all original design featuring a slim fit throughout the body, an Oriental influenced shawl collar and sleeves that can be cuffed to expose the selvedge. The pleated breast pocket is inspired by numerous repro focused brands like Mister Freedom and Rising Sun & Co.

This fabric is a 9.5 oz indigo warp/white weft Japanese denim with a pink selvedge ID . I tried my best to capture how incredibly slubby and hairy it is. Starch and a tight weave let the shirt crease nicely, so you can expect some excellent pit combs.

My construction has improved significantly. With the first shirt design I learned that strong shoulder seams are absolutely crucial, especially with denim as it is prone to fraying. Therefore, all of the structural seams have been felled for added strength and a smooth interior.

I’m excited to finally make these available at my online shop in three sizes, but this first run will be very limited. I have gained an obsession for fine fabrics through this hobby, so subsequent runs will use a variety of quality denim and chambray.

  12. JohnWilkesHuth,

I am on instagram, iamzqp is my handle there.

I like your multi-wrap bracelet idea. I'm going to have to do my own interpretation of that.

While I wait to receive my order for the first production round of denim shirts, l am working on finalizing the details on my Japanese denim shirt and trying my hand at pattern grading to provide different sizes.

Lots of other projects in the works as well so I will be updating this thread regularly.
