  1. -Working on creating a more cohesive Seattle sufu group, but making more friends just by being in the city more as well

-Waking up at 7:30AM and continuing good morning habits

-Contemplating rock climbing as my new form of exercise, but that's highly dependent on...

-My interview with Arc'teryx, which is just for a part-time sales position but could allow me to eventually seek other positions within the company and gets me a discount on Veilance

-Planning on moving into an apartment if I get the Arc'teryx job

-Just made banana bread tonight, but need to challenge myself more

-SISP losing interest, but Stone Island/Massimo Osti as an inspiration continues

-Had a small meetup in Vancouver with Gatefold and CHINESEGOLD, can't wait to go back to Vancouver

-Working on building the framework for larger meetups, got to meet Polygamy and hamham3001 this past Sunday! Started playing Street Fighter 4 at the downtown arcade and seeing if I can (eventually) hop into the seattle fighting game community. Got a pretty fucking weak Ryu, but shout out to Bruised for taking the time to teach me the basics on Street Fighter 2. I can at least hadouken and shoryuken!

-Waking up at 7, but not sleeping that well. Working on bedtime habits/tendencies. Need to read before bed rather than browse the web.

-Bouldering either today or tomorrow, will put pics up on insta (http://instagram.com/theupperleft)

-Hired on at Arc'teryx! Just have to get through the ever so lovely paperwork.

-Seriously looking at apartments, going to hop on it if I find a good deal.

-Made cookies just yesterday for work and making oatmeal chocolate chip coconut this morning for delicious snacks this week.

-New meetup plans: headed to Portland on the 15th of August! Ready to check out the city of roses as an adult for the first time.

  2. Invitation remains open to anyone stopping through Seattle to hang out. Current work schedule means I'm always off Sundays and Mondays.

Still interested in the idea of a superfuture swap meet. I love print/movies/music but I don't need to hold onto the same things forever. Old stuff for new to me old stuff sounds like a plan, especially considering most people on here have cultivated tastes I enjoy.

  3. Depends on what you're up for! I've been considering bouldering at SBP, a lot of good theatres in the area with a wide variety of movies, Trichome is a great hang out spot, plenty to eat, great city to walk around in, decent downtown core if you want to wander through some stores or find people-watching amusing, and Capitol Hill has the oft-mentioned Totokaelo amongst other attractions.

  4. Decided to blow up the spot. Co-Owner of Trichome used to be a designer for Eddie Bauer and among the things he designed while he was there was this belt (http://www.eddiebauer.com/product/genius-stretch-belt/71403054/_/A-ebSku_0143054100__71403054_catalog10002_en__US?cm_mmc=GooglePLA-_-eddie+bauer-_-18283950120All+products-_-none&device=c&network=g&matchtype=&cvosrc=cse.google.18283950120All_products&cvo_cid=33575663976&gclid=CJKfzrT1r78CFRBhfgod4JsAAw). For $20.00 this is a belt made out of heavy duty stretch webbing whose length you can adjust with the tried and true cut the end and use a lighter trick. Incredibly comfortable (even if exercising), and elegantly simple.

  5. Don't think I have anything going on the 7th! PM me if you're going to be available and we can work out the details from there. If not the 7th, I should be free on the 13th or 14th and we can try to meet up then.

Thoroughly enjoyed the Yves Saint Laurent biopic. Charlotte Le Bon (goddamn) certainly helped, but it had multiple scenes that managed to capture the fascinating evolution of the fashion industry, the trials and tribulations faced by a designer, and let you vicariously experience the ecstatic joy found in showing a beautiful collection. Highly recommended.

  7. -First Seattle meetup was with 4 people, but I'm sure we'll have another

-Waking up at 8AM everyday, cooking breakfast, and getting to work 15 mins early

-Exercise has been slipping. Once I am up at 7 I will be running.

-Applying to Totokaelo, and debating whether or not to work part-time and go back to school

-Looking at apartments in Seattle with a roommate candidate

    -Baking continues

-SISP losing interest. Single, brand-based goal kind of short sighted.

-Vancouver meetup set for May 31/June 1!

  8. Just saw The Rover. Thought it was amazing. Definitely one of my favourites of the year.

    I have to ask,

Robert Pattinson playing a "slow" character wasn't bothersome to you? That choice has never felt natural to me in any movie I've seen with the exception of My Left Foot, where Lewis' portrayal of the character and his struggles was outstanding enough that it didn't pull me out of the movie. With Pattinson I continually felt uncomfortable and I didn't find his performance convincing, which perhaps was intentional? It is a dystopian film and the questions surrounding his true capabilities are left fairly open ended (see the scenes where he translates, pays for petrol/ammunition, etc. And I suppose I am quite tired of the "fool who speaks the truth" idea. It's been around since Shakespeare, and it feels like its lost resonance.

  9. raid 2

    sick

Raid 2 was absolutely brutal. Saw it in a theatre where more than a few boys had brought along KAG dates who were completely unprepared for what unfolded. At least 8 couples that walked out? Pretty good barometer for the fact that it did exactly what I hoped it would.

what did you think of the dance of reality??

I had an absolute blast. Jodorowsky's romanticized Tocopilla is a marvel to behold, and while I had heard it was autobiographical I was surprised that the focus landed more on the character of his father (played by his son). Visuals were gorgeous, and I cannot emphasize enough how funny this movie was thanks to the juxtaposition of moments of hilarity against quite serious subject matter. There was only one directorial choice that was tiresome, but against all the wonderful choices made it didn't bother me too much.

Saw this last night along with...

the night before. It's been quite the movie weekend.

I'm with Jack on the Rover. Worth a watch, especially for armchair travel as an American. There were some gorgeous shots of the Australian countryside, and some great on the road sequences as well. Easily the highlight of the movie for me was the soundtrack, though.

The biggest criticism I can make of the movie is that it felt like it owed a too much to No Country For Old Men regarding its pacing and tone, and suffers losses in nearly every category if you were to compare the two.

  11. Who's down for another Seattle meetup? Weather has been absolutely outstanding as of late and I'm downtown nearly every weekend. Post up in the thread if you're traveling through town (as Akuma did). As soon as I get my job/living situation settled I should have a place for people to crash at, which certainly helps cost when you're considering attending meetups.
