I get that this has been noted but I did not realize he actually has a song that is titled, "Rap Game James Franco." I don't even...

It turns out that Riff Raff is now my favorite rapper. I didn't get it before I investigated his catalogue. He is not only the rap game James Franco, he is also the rap game Michelle Kwan, Einstein, Patrick Ewing, King Tut, Donut Sprinkles. Johnny Appleseed, Beevis and Butthead, etc. Some nights the internet is very generous to me. Brb watching every riff raff video that is proceeded by the words "rap game."
  2. Gloves were clever, but the stacked converse-style shoes seemed uninspired. The concept already exists and I don't think he brought anything new enough to it. Styling wasn't my favorite on some of the pieces, but on my black, triangle patterned dress its probably intentional because he wanted to emphasize that particular design. I don't like how any of those dresses look worn, though. :/

  3. This collection was already enormously strong and then the transforming dresses blew everyone's mind. I need to figure out how he managed that.

As impressive as those are, the pants for this collection are such a simple idea that is executed beautifully. The skinny leg with flowing fabric on the outside strategically attached to move with the movement of the wearer looks beautiful in motion and the multiple iterations of the idea all look great.

The patterns on the dresses and jackets seem versatile to me. I could easily see a woman buying one of those pieces to wear with clothing she already has.

Finally, the incredible texturing on the coral, white, and black dresses and pants.

    I'm with Desi.

  4. I think I love almost everything. Definitely cosign on the half rider/half dress. A leather jacket is not something I thought of as needing to be made more feminine as they look attractive on girls already, but it lends a whole new life to that aesthetic. Love boyfriend cut jeans on girls as well. Call me crazy but that look is becoming more attractive to me than butt huggers.

Motherfucking unf. Loved the multi zipper jacket and look at the mix of materials on the wool/leather jacket. Oversized arm, zips at the bottom, and cropped just enough to float over the bottom of the female silhouette.

  5. I am curious about SuFu's opinion on wearing glasses if you don't need them. I've always wanted to wear glasses but despite my dad, brother, and mother having issues with their eyesight mine remains unimpaired.

  6. I loved the monochromatic leg silhouette established by the tights and shoes. The simplicity of the shoes is very appealing. Managing to cut clothes so that they are oversized and still so flattering baffles me. I expect to see a ton of her coats around during this winter with the ladies of fashion.

Would have rather seen this with the navy of burgundy rights/boot combo but still a great piece.

This is a showstopping piece. Love the color, the materials, and the incredible oversized collar. I especially like the mock turtleneck under the oversized coat look.

you forgot nike... in beaverton, oregon.

This was not unintentional. I would not want to work for Nike. The design of Nike shoes is undeniable, as undeniable as their foundation on the economic exploitation of the existing economic inequalities of our world that, if you subscribe to Jared Diamond's theory, were determined by geographic luck and the development of guns, germs, and steel. It gave the European countries and their subsequent colonies such an enormous advantage over their "compeition" on the world stage that the economic inequalities established persist in some form.

The company that clothes our Olympic athletes on the world stage does so with the support of the American people that purchase a product for themselves and for their children that is intentionally disposable and is crafted by the the historically shafted for nothing close to the wage that would be expected for their children were they to grow up and work in a factory. But those who made that product probably weren't grown up yet. Silly me.

The best thing Nike has done with their ill gotten gains is the creation of the Flyknit machine. Maybe they will finally take violating the rights to dignity that their brothers and sisters in humanity have earned BY BEING THE SAME FUCKING SPECIES out of the equation when it comes to manufacturing their shoes

  9. Solid point Sammy You. For me, I think the main goal is to have formal design training and hopefully far greater access to internships than in the Northwest. I would love to improve my sketching/drawing capabilities so that I could express what I'd like a line to resemble, and I'd also like to have more knowledge regarding the social history of fashion. However, these are things that I could accomplish outside a formal education through drawing lessons, extensive practice, and my already existing library card provided the library has the type of books I would hope to study.

And its not that the Northwest is desolate by any means. Companies like Arcteryx, Filson, Blackbird, and even Flying Coffin are all companies I would be happy to intern with to get my feet wet as far as the professional world goes.

Another big factor pushing me towards the college route is that I currently live at home and work a part-time job. A great part-time job, but a part time job. If the opportunity arose to work full time and live on my own while developing my artistic skills and a collection, then I would be happy to do that. However, retail is a competitive arena due to the number of people who have chosen to major in fields where jobs are scarce and now need work until an opening appears. A year of part-time work could or could not earn me a full-time position depending on the store. It'd be great to find work full time in Ballard, Bellevue, or Seattle, but that's an opportunity that thus far has not been advertised and I would have to manage to create for myself.

  10. "Well shit. If its gonna be that kind of party I am going to stick my dick in the mashed potatoes."

Ripping used CDs to MP3 is my life. Growing up without anyone who cared about hip hop I am just now going through the discographies of the Beastie Boys, Outkast, and others.

  11. Everything is turned in to my local community college for spring quarter, after which I will be sophomore status (fucking up your first semester of college and your third semester is not a good deal.) Looking around at local colleges I found out that SPU has a fashion design major that feeds into FIT in Manhattan.

After a terrible start to college I finally have my priorities and mindset completely turned around thanks to the job I found when I returned home from college. I've worked for my local men's store on our main street for a year now and in that time I have learned to finish each job that I start, put things back where they belong, plan ahead, be clear to others about what I want, and realized that clothing is what I am passionate about.

I think I have managed to make the most of my time out of school. I interviewed for a job at Blackbird when the opportunity arose, and I know I made a good impression on all of the staff even if I didn't yet have the experience or financial independence that that job required. I discovered Superfuture and I have learned an enormous amount about the current fashion landscape concerning materials, construction, and aesthetics from other users and by looking through the majority of the fashion shows this season. I assembled comprehensive lists of the popular stores that exist on the west coast and have a mental checklist of what they stock and why it sells for them.

My closet looks beautifully bare. I've donated anything I don't like anymore.

Looking at my new life plan, its going to be an interesting journey from here. I need to save every penny I can from my job after three final purchases so that I can prepare for living costs in NYC. I'm done with dreaming small. I know what I want in clothing and there is a gap in the market I think I could fill. I've worked with the consumers long enough to get an idea of what price point they will tolerate. I've watched the market and gotten my hands on the materials of the future. I've watched the rise of exclusively online retail based on the strength of the product with companies like Outlier. And now I have a vision.

  12. Will be headed downtown in a few weeks to check out the American made Brooks Brothers extra slim fit oxford. Price point is quite reasonable at $80.00, so I'll see if the construction/fit is superior to the American Apparel oxford which is priced about the same ($72.00). I have high hopes right now, considering the craftsmanship on American Apparel oxfords is awful even if they do fit me well. Loose threads abound and I know better than to hope not to lose buttons off their shirts.

  13. Their arms are a bit short, but Id rather have good body fit and roll the cuff.

Is the quality on a $180 oxford worth it, do they really age well and stay soft?

I want to up my ocbd game but is one of those worth 6 uniqlo ones?

Now this is a fair question. I headed down to Ballard this evening to find out, and I have to say that while I admire Blackbird's commitment to trying to provide quality in store design this was not a winner for me.

Blackbird's own label seems to have begun in the Thom Browne/BoO trap of proportions and is slowly moving away from it towards the slim but not too slim proportions I would prefer. While I understand that the shrunken, cropped is quite popular with some it is not what I want if I am going to be spending a lot of money on a shirt. The fit through the chest and neck was great. The offset buttons idea interested me and it does create a different shape at the neck than traditional button spacing. It would look great as a casual look under a v-neck or crew sweater for example. Construction felt solid. The buttons were not going anywhere as often feels like the case with my American Apparel oxfords. I should try on a Uniqlo oxford while I am in SF this spring to compare and see if they would fit me.

However, the arms were short on me as so often is the case. While relaxed with my arms at my sides, the shirt hits a little bit short of where I would like it too. If I bend my arm, forget it. The shirt moves probably 2 inches up the arm due to it being nicely fitted through the arm. Collar was smaller than a traditional oxford, and it didn't look that great to me.

The "high density Japanese cotton" didn't manage to impress me at all. I am guessing that a good deal of the price of this shirt came from the materials unless the markup is insane, which would be too bad.

  14. Order has been placed. Had a discussion with JBanger concerning the order this evening and he rightfully was unhappy with the situation up until now. Thank you to everyone who did their best to make the process easier, and I apologize for the delays that I caused through inexperience.
