  1. 1979! .. wow.. Prince’s owner looks like a stereotypical Smiths fan c1985
  2. Looks like the mustard version Neneh Cherry wears in the Buffalo Stance video 1988
  3. I used to quite like The Clothes Show.. I think it was on, on’a Sunday tea-time before Last of the Summer Wine.. and the hopeless depressing That’s Life with its dogs that couldn’t really say ‘sausages’
  4. When you look back at some of the wilder styles through history.. the styles of the 1980s for instance would never have happened if we had the internet.. ..conversely styles you see around here.. techwear and such wouldn’t have happened without the interwebz..
  5. Anyone remember when the MA1 has a resurgence around the early to mid 90s first time since the skins.. I bought one for £34 from a massive outdoor army surplus in Norfolk.. reason it’s come to mind is the mention of Schott in another thread.. The first time I was aware of Schott as a brand, was their MA1 repro’s in the 90s you could buy a standard Schott bomber for around £90 or a flame retardant one for around £110.. I think it had pocket flaps rather than being an exact repro.. I remember being sat in the boozer with my mates.. one of them was wearing a fire retardant Schott.. while another had his lighter under the table trying to burn his sleeve just to check
  6. Total opposite for me.. starting wearing vintage Levi’s in the early 90s.. who knows what cut they were?.. I wouldn’t have known the difference back then.. moved onto LVC-47s in the mid to late 90s.. onto SC-47s in the early 2000s and I’ve worn a 46 or 47 cut pretty much exclusively ever since... I briefly flirted with different Sugarcane fabrics around 2008 but the cut pretty much stayed the same. Style-wise has always been a mix of denim and the influence of the scene I was into at the time.. sneaker collecting in the early 90s (before it started to repulse me) the night life/clubs, music, collecting records, BMX’ing, skateboarding, MTB’ing.. VWs.. the folks who I was hanging around with, the city I lived in, all had some influence.. and later when my social life stated to wane.. the interwebz, this place and Japanese websites/blogs all had some influence.. albeit more subconsciously.
  7. No mini-ramp but i did build a jump box in our old back yard
  8. Before you lavish me with anymore praise.. you’d better see the design process.. ..we have better drawings Blu-tacked to our fridge. 🤣
  9. I’ve had a lot of practice.. at both 😃
  10. I made Duke a little rack for his leatherworking tools today.. I drilled a plywood template for the holes.. it's easier to get the spacing right on the temp, rather than have numerous confusing lines on your oak. I cut a block of oak from a board and sanded it square.. put the template on top and drilled through the holes.. not all the way through, just a couple of inches down Used my guage to mark out a 15mm thickness Cut it off Sanded it flat.. Keeping the thread on topic, cuff of Warehouse 😎 Repeat I did the same thing from the bottom of the board (which is why i only drilled 2" deep) giving me 2x pieces of oak with a series of holes on the exact same centers and one piece of oak with no holes to form the base of the rack and laminated the bottom 2x pieces together ..this is only because when i look in the bottom of the holes.. i don't want to see the point left behind from the forstner bit Pfft.. so unprofessional.. says the guy who can't even focus^ his camera I wanted some wooden dowels to peg it together.. but i wanted them in a dark contrasting colour... huf!.. y'know that moment in your day when all you need a small perfectly round piece of honduras mahogany but it's been on the endangered species list since 2013?.. well fear not superdudes Double 0s Life Hacks #47 Cut some pieces of mahogany Y'know those people who say 'you can't fit a square peg in a round hole' ?.. well those people are fucking idiots Get a bit of metal with a hole in it and nip it up in the vice ..tap your little peg in ..tap it through with a drift punch, turn the metal upside down and hey presto! ..Mahogany dowels Using the oak off cuts.. i've bobbin'd out a couple of slots.. Im going for a mid-century kind of vibe ..started building it.. i'll hide that little rebate later, i french polished the internal parts before i put the top on so i wasn't french polishing through a narrow slot ..tapped my handmade pegs in.. now the labourious task of sanding out the marks from the machines.. ..french polished the outside and gave it a coat of wax ..and there you have it .. the hiden rebate
  11. I spot some blk/cement AJ3s.. I was reading about his new album of experimental flute music last week.. i wonder if @volvo240thebest is collaborating?
  12. Is that^ Danniella Westbrook before her face collapsed?
  13. I got a new DAC in the Peter Tyson Black Friday Extravaganza..Bonanza
  14. Not sure about no chemicals.. Snow Peak subscribe to The Green Down Project and use recycled tent material if you can find something in their range.. i'm not sure it's all made in JP though I've got the older version of this https://www.phdesigns.co.uk/wafer-ultima-down-vest ..from around 10yrs ago, 1000 fill, looks fat.. but isn't.. it weighs nothing, worn here with RMC Military sweat and M41001s If you scoot back a few pages.. i'm wearing it in waywt..
  15. Wouldn't you be better off with a jacket liner or quilted layer rather than a down vest?
  16. I wouldn't say 'best'.. but the green tab from the old Hawaii's still gives me warm fuzzy sensation. Here's a photo of mine i took in 2009
  17. Quite.. I’ve even used a 1/38 contraction rule^ .. which should give a shrinkage allowance of around 0.3mm when they’re washed
  18. I’ve unpicked you a hem from an old pair of SC From stitch to hem From hem +folded over material 0.75”
  19. I got 3 questions right in a row last week while watching University Challenge.. all 3 were about bike parts.. first answer was stem, second was crank and third was dropouts.. all the students were flummoxed. In your face academia!! https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m001sh5t/university-challenge-202324-18-uea-v-open-university @ 24.40 Q. What 5 letter word denotes the part which connects the pedal to the axle of the bottom bracket? A. Erm, Spoke? F'kin spoke?..
  20. There was a bike kleptomanic in Oxford who got busted when someone spotted his back garden on google earth
  21. There is a corner near our house which i've affectionately named 'bike corner' .. folks leave their old bikes/bike parts there 'free to a good home' .. i take the more interesting examples home and offer them up for karma (collection) on the bike forums i contribute to.. Rare 1970's Lapierre mixtie - even has the original stainless mudguards and Soubitez front dynamo lamp Giant Cadex ..a bunch of wheels last week.. some Hope hubs and these carbon Novotec .. yesterday morning i found this old sewing machine There was a full set of golf clubs once, I let the scrapman take those.. i don't think golfers should ever be encouraged !
  22. I don't mind the length.. (i love the jumper!) it's the crease down the front which looks awkward in my opinion..
  23. They fit TTS albeit loosely becasue of the cut of the jacket.. ie- it has no shape and fits like a sack so it's up to you to pull the draw strings in, if needed around the waist, hem, cuffs ect.. to give the jacket a closer fit to the body. I have a size med for sale on ebay with some sizes attached.. i'm 5'11".. 75kg.. 39" chest, 32" waist and the size 40 fits how an M-65 should (not fitted) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/126179863408 Shamelessly.. it would be much cheaper for folks here They don't shrink at all in the wash.. if you live in a wet environment, add a Tech wash treatment instead of detergent.. Nikwax or something similar.
  24. Even more in the ENT department.. those guys specialise in loss of taste
