    Superdenim Specific Music Meta Thread...

Sorry lads ive been mad-busy of late. Mark Bell (rip) was a breaker pre-LFO It all started here.. back in the 80's this^ jewelers on Division Street in Sheffield used to be FON a tiny record shop, the name taken from some old graff painted on a nearby wall 'Fuck Off Nazi's' which had remained since the 1940's FON, an acryonym there of... all us 'bedroom DJ's' used to queue down the street on a Saturday for the fresh imports, the shop could only hold about 6 peeps... at this time FON sold hip-hop, '80s soul, electrofunk, dub and reggae.. pre- bleep bass revolution. Above FON Records was FON Studio founded by industrial-funk band Chakk (81-87) one of whose members was Mark Brydon who went on to form Moloko, Krush ect and producers Richard H. Kirk of Cabaret Voltaire fame.. Rob Mitchell and Steve Beckett took over FON, Winston Hazel was the buyer and with the fast growing dance music scene moved to larger premises across the road, re-naming the joint Warp, the rest is history Warp wasn't the catalyst of bleep/bass but it was certainly a massive driving force.. i can fill in some of which when i get 5mins. This photo made me smile recently, Oscar Peterson advertising the 303 before it acidentally formed the bedrock of acid-house A friend of mine was senior designer at TDR @CASSAVA PIECE he later went on to form Kiosk. I love Cab Fare @cottonskinblues it's a SoM classic which i don't think made the album because Bob James never cleared the sample.. I'll tune in for more of a read/contribution as spread some rep when my schedule returns to normal but in the meantime here's some DP with a little Roy Ayers sample

    Show Us Around Your Neighbourhood

Grab yourself a camera and go for a stroll around your neighbourhood, within a 30min radius of home will be just fine, lets see the streets you walk everyday, the places you shop, the bus stops, no need for landmarks, the more mundane the better...as the thread suggests...? Here in Sheffield we have one of the largest poverty gaps in the UK, the city boomed during to the industrial revolution, imploded during the Thatcher government >further decline brought on by the outsourcing of the 90's. You can draw a line through my city, the rich/poor divide. I work in one of the most deprived areas but live in the West which borders our beloved Peak District, The Victorian houses built by steel barons trying to escape the cities pollution, Outside of London S10 is still considered to be one of the most affluent districts in the UK but we live in a typically working-class Victorian terrace house c1870 it's pretty much all we could afford in the area. These are the previously mentioned terraces albeit, ours is tucked away up a lane. ..Along the next street we go, Steve Beckett of Warp Records fame used to live up here, and Richard Hawley just a couple more streets away. ..the allotments at the end of the street Sheffield is the greenest city in Europe/has more trees per person or it did until Amey started cutting the f**kers down, Looking over S10. Follow the river Porter up to Lady Cannings Plantation, for all your MTB needs Down to the park, typical Sheffield weather Just a stones throw from the working-class terraces, overlooking the park are the middle-class Victorian villas . . Heading up towards Ranmoor where red brick turns to olde'world stone This is the route i cycle to work . . Through the Botanical Gardens (like a mini Kew) . ... i pop out at our local row of shops JoJo's, find their vintage goodies on Insta Past local muralist and print maker extraordinaire Phlegm, lots of his work dotted around the city. . . . ...and back home. Go to it super-peeps and don't be afraid to photo-bomb.

Bit more mincrafting at the top of our road, it's nestled inbetween the often listed Victorian houses of Ranmoor so to avoid offending the view they've built it partially underground and surrounded it with trees... Astroturf would have been within keeping rather than shitty grass Looking like one of them holiday complex they chucked up on the Greek islands during the 80's, just needs a white plastic patio set. It's got what looks like a seperate underground survival bunker/baby panda sanctury... i would have really gone for a lava moat instead of pebbles.

Like a bastard (laurel) M41001/M41030 love child, the laurel M41001's have the same coin pocket assembley with the white stitch underneath? ...also the laurel leaf buttons of the M41001 are steel shanked, apart from the top button, ive had a couple of pairs of these with the same button set up

Def an interesting pair of M41030's you have there @Graytrain Pink line denim?? Button placement? Patch stitch (as you say) The double sided Cane's tab is spot on As is the buckle The yoke stitch is often copper coloured rather than yellow Ive owned lots of pairs of M41001/M41030 most of which i bought in vintage condition, non of which have had a '25' on the hidden rivet? The 'M41030' nylon tag is usually on the opposite pocket to the coin pocket, but what's also odd...it looks like the bottom V of the coin pocket doesn't overlap the pocket bag? 'S' button back's are spot on, as are all those stitch colours around the fly Those 'steel shank' buttons would have once been copper (what looks like rust, i think is the remnants of the plating) they're only copper plate over steel, it doesn't usually rub away to that extent.. ..ive beat the shit out of this^ pair but a quick rub with some sandpaper will reveal the Sugarcane copper shank buttons are steel underneath the plate. I wonder if they were a sample...

I don't recall seeing a pair of M41030's with pink line denim? the pair i'm wearing are 13oz white-line ..same via a quick search Same on the later 'cloth patch' model What does the weight feel like? does if feel the same as the pink-line SC-47's or a lighter weight denim? you would know for sure. ..also button placement seems odd, the top button looks too close to the waistband, usually SC are meticulous with this kind of detail, yet the rivet/fly looks perfect, as does the buckle/cinch assembly, the overstitch/opposing bartack on the back pockets, arcs, thread colour, v-stitch, coin pocket shape ect?? ..also odd that they're tagged 35 but measure 30" the M41030 usually shrink from tagged, although judging by the state of the selvedge and the overlapping rivet on the fly they've probably been boiled to within an inch of their life Can we see some more deets, what's the coin pocket ID? back of rivets? are the button shanks copper or silver? double or single faced tab? and anything left of the nylon 'M41030' pocket label? I love this thread!

My old 47's from 2013 were tagged 34" I got them from Mirrorball and seem to remember at that time there was more 34" floating around than 32" cos given the choice i would have bought 32" They were mad long in raw state, i think 34" was post shrink but they ended up 34"+ after a hot soak.

Denim Blunders, Reflections and General Nonsense.

Don't lose sleep over this, you did it all by the book, its nice to hear that ebay has supported a seller for a change.. Ive had some bust'ups with ebay over the years so i fucked it off, first one was around 2010... some dude who bought a pair of my BR chinos claimed he found a mark on them (but failed to send photographic evidence) so he took it upon himself to wash them with a StainDevil (chemical stain remover) this didn't work so he bought some Vanish and scrubbed the stain, this didn't work either and left a white circle so he wanted to return them for a full refund. Ebay backed him all the way, even though i protested "So i can buy a painting from ebay or...say a car, find a small mark, scrub it with paint stripper fucking it up in the process and simply send it back for a full refund" it'd be called vandalism in any other language... Second time i was selling a power amp from an obscure British manufacturer so i added some key works (other amp manufacturers) to up my listing (i didn't know this was wrong at the time) it was within hours of the sale ending and for a great fucking price too and ebay removed it. I went fucking ape-shit and ebay said keyword listing was 'unethical' so i sent them an email saying don't lecture me about ethics ebay.. you profit from the sale of Nazi memorabilia, t-shirts bearing the swastika and 'Jim'll Fix It' badges (the predatory pedophile) and sent them links to their own listings. I said "you should get your own house in order before you accuse me of being unethical" ...they replied by saying that my listing (with numerous great photo's) could be misconstrued as something else.. so i sent them 100's of links to ebay sales for fake Nike trainers saying if you're so worried about folks buying things under false pretenses why don't you address the sale of fake goods on ebay some of these sellers are promoted by you with 'Power Seller' status to which they said they/i can't prove they're fake so i sent them a Nike legit check...they failed to respond to this and never removed the counterfeit Nike listings. They do seem to have cleaned up their act in the last 10yrs im pleased to say.

In the arts tower in Sheff we still have the tallest working paternoster lift in Europe, it's great fun! no doors, no wait time just a continuous moving loop which you jump on and off when you get to your desired floor while its still moving.. when you get to the top/bottom it carries you around the loop and back down/up t'other way

Alternatively @unders you could just make your own as i did here.. Take your pumps (preferably new) draw around the sole and cut out an oddside, this removes the undercut of the shoe and gives you a flat surface on which to build your mould. Drop your pumps into the oddside Fill in the gap with plasterscene or you'll get messy pumps Build a frame/mould around them and coat with mould release solution Cast your mould in polyurethane, getting things in focus is the key Once cured, peel out your pumps Fill in the old branding ..replace with the appropriate forum lettering in reverse/mirror image Cast your rubber sole Peel it out of the mould and stick it to your old pumps with contact adhesive I then destroyed the moulds so don't get you knickers in a twist Converse! fin

I sold my entire vinyl collection to a friend of mine back in the early 2000's, it was mainly 1989 - mid 90's Warp labels, XL, white labels, test pressings ect mixed with 1940's era jazz and a bit of 70's era funk which i used to crate dig from the vintage shops for 20p each when i was too poor to buy CD's. He kept complaining that i wasn't storing it properly causing it to warp... at the time i couldn't really care less because i'd sold my system and i only had a vintage dansette which was great for the jazz but not so great for the rest... so i said 'tell you what give me £50 as a token gesture for the lot on the understanding that i can buy it back at any time for £50' he still has it to this day. Check out these 45 centers i hand turned for a Denimbro members SL1200's..

The pair you've found on ebay look great! they look like one wash, maybe a tiny amount of fading to the hem, it's hard to tell, it might be the light... they're the same product code as the ones i posted on DB, i would be interested to know if this was the only RageBlue cut?
