Hey this was me! I think we've all got Deep Pocketsæ around here, I just happen to also be incredibly financially irresponsible.

I'm moving right now but I'll try to take some pics next week or so

Damn, didn't realize John Mayer was on this forum...Welcome

Feel like J1 is getting a little old & complex these day.

I'm sure most ppl, including myself, wound choose J1 as first acr jacket because it is the combination of many iconic acr elements.

I do enjoyed these [tricks] of J1A for a while and then noticed some problem such as the hard to reach chest pocket, the little tight new collar design (starting from 2.2),  interops & WR zip gravity pocket which I may use once per year, and the "feels like I need another airpods next day" forcelock...

To say, each newer version do have some updates like flip gravity pocket, tension zip and wider fit for insulation etc. Not sure if it's me being weird that want a cleaner and simpler jacket rather than a "over engineered" project like complexity...

I totally agree. The minimalist jackets often have just as much complexity as the maximalist ones like (J1 / J47A / etc), the features are just hidden from view. J84 is a good example where it has tension zip pockets, a unique collar design, and the side pockets are absolutely massive, but on the surface it's more discerning and subtle – it feels like the Rick Rubin of Acronym jackets lol

  3. Did anyone actually buy the J1W or did they make a million?

I actually think its a great jacket. I love the new colors and the fit while slightly comical makes a lot more sense to me. The J1A is tight af if you take your TTS imo and it's a joke with a warm insulator attached. The J1W looks like you can actually move in it.

Having said all of that, I feel like this is the downside of releasing a J1A every year. I know I'm a going to see 30 of these and that makes me want it less...

Figured it would fit pretty tight considering The description says Errolson took a size L. What was disappointing about the fabric? Too lightweight?

I'm the exact same height as Errolson so I tend to be an M in most shells. I also sized up to an L given it was a profile fit and I still find it relatively constricting.

As for the fabric, it doesn't feel like it matches the price point. It's a cotton / poly blend (88 / 12), but when you feel it, you're almost surprised it's only 12%.

  5. Received the S27 today. A little underwhelmed by the fabric feel and weight, but the pattern is beautiful. I do find it a bit ironic that even though the pattern is obviously designed for maximum freedom of movement, the shirt feels much more restrictive than it would if you were to just make the arm hole itself a bit wider...

Crossposting from IG. All size medium, my normal size though small wasn’t bad. The sleeves ended at my wrist but I had less room to layer when I tried with my J68. Light layers probably would have been fine or wearing it over a tee. The white was actually my favorite when I saw them in person, which I did not expect.

The sizing measurements on the site are identical to the J1A-GT. You're saying it fits smaller?

  7. Lately, I've been dreaming of a J69-S. It's one of my favorite jackets but because of the tight fit, the GT ends up being super close to your skin and you have to wash it way more often to avoid delam... Basically everything -S.

  8. SSENSE now carrying Acronym...

Seems like quantities are way higher this season and will continue to be moving forward with new stockists and virtually everything still in stock.

C1-am looks pretty good for the next several months of working from home. Idk about y'all but I'm gonna get even less wear from my acronym with the current situation lol.

While I admit I haven't gotten to wear any ACR gear lately, when I do have to go outside, is there anything that feels more appropriate to the current state of affairs than Acronym right now?

Unrelated: Does anyone else think the J1L is absolute garbage? All of those features on a long coat just looks out of place to me. Much prefer the J39 / J46 / 53 / 62. Also underwhelmed by the J47, one of my favorite shells ever. Seems like at the very least they could add a shake-dry hood like they have with similar models, but even so, that hood was/is comically small. A J47 with a removable hood would be the perfect shell IMO.

  10. Something I forgot to acknowledge re: J58 is that all of the 1.2 “changes” that Errolson mentioned on IG already existed on version 1.1...

The only main difference between .1 and .2 is the primaloft gold active.

Thanks for the detailed write-up. Kind of a bummer that it’s still the same warmth.

how does the large fit you relative to the medium? I also have the 1.0 in a Medium and was considering sizing up 1 in the 1.2 for more of a looser fit. Does this jacket work slightly oversized?

Any of the jackets I've bought in the last few years that fit "profile", I've gone a size up and I've been very happy with the results. The 58 works really well because the cinch at the waist still creates a slimmer silhouette.

  12. Just bought a J58 to replace my V1 (too small). I'm a little skeptical that primaloft gold active will be as warm as climashield, but happy the price didn't increase from the last release. Anyone have any experience with primaloft gold active?

If the weight is a factor, hopefully warmth will be on par as V1.2 is actually 30 grams heavier (534 v. 504).

  13. Tried on the new SD fabric on the J44 today and I was really impressed. Fabric is much heavier than standard stotz and has a great drape. The J44 isn't my favorite silhouette, but I'm really excited to see what they do with it in future seasons.

Can someone comment on J1A-GT 2.2 sizing vs J47A-GT sizing?

Basically my J47A fits nicely around the chest and tummy but the sleeves are a couple of cm too short cause of my broad shoulders. Also, I find the hood to be quite tight.

I'm currently wearing a size M J47A, would a size L J1A-GT give me a bit more sleeve length and hood size?

I've owned a J47-GT and J1A 2.2. Sizing is tough to compare IMO because the patterns are so different but the J1A is much roomier than the J47. A J58 underneath the 47 was always very tight with anything more than a tee base layer. I have plenty of room and movement with the 58 and J1a together.

J67 arrived! Fit doesn’t seem to match the measurements on the site—it’s right in line with the J69. Fits like a lightweight, weatherproof hoodie. I’m a big fan of the material. Apologies that the hair is obscuring the hood.

Not surprised the measurements are more like J69. The fit in product shots looks almost identical. Are you able to flip the collar over like with the 69 or is the collar too padded from the hood?

just to point out one problem of J67, It is single zipper instead of double, no extra zipper to relax waste area.

The cut looks nearly identical to the J69 so from experience, the double zipper isn't an issue because it's cut so short. You also have the snap closure / plus escape zip if your'e sitting down.

New storm hood mechanism looks incredible. Interesting that none of the product shots show the collar down when the hood is stowed.

    Ya, j67 is :o

picked up the cape... have to see if it’s as engineered as the product shots suggest, or if it’s just a poncho compared to the CP2. I think i like the BLK/RAF j36 better... but seems I’m alone in that respect. Funny the j1a didn’t come, I saw there were issues at the “new” factory and it’s been delayed. Maybe the FO version will show up soon!?!!

Where did you see that there were issues at the factory?

The GT Pro noisiness is my biggest gripe. Feels and sounds like you’re wearing a damn tarp. A tarp that breathes a little.

Paclite is sooooooo luxe, quiet, and comfy by comparison. The facing fabric on my J34GT-PL just feels awesome and gives more of that ninja vibe. I know it’s not as element proof as the top tier gt pro, but the trade offs are worth it IMO. Really wish ACR would revisit using that shit.

You're in luck. J61 in Paclite coming FW1920.

$428 duties on the J1A in the US is a big oof. My last acrnm purchase wasn't even close to that much tax. Has anyone ever had luck getting an adjustment on that with UPS? 6201.99.8030 should still work right? GT is man-made fiber and it'd fall under 'anorak, windbreaker, and similar articles', but would I have to prove that?

As for the jacket itself, I like the folded down collar way more than I thought I would, and the look with the hood attached less than I thought I would. With the hood on I think I prefer the old look. The logo tape seems a bit far back, but I'm also used to vertical logo tape. All the details I have checked so far (hardware, seam tape, zipper pulls etc.,) have seemed equivalent or purposefully different (shiny vs not shiny zips) from my J28. Though I do think the sling is a bit stiffer and more coarse than that of the J28 (but I'm not sure how much wear has to do with that). I've noticed that the hand pockets have like a dart (??) to provide more fabric/space on the inside, which is cool. I don't know if old models had that or not but the J28 doesn't for sure.

I could keep going, but the rest of my opinions really only have to do with comparing it to the only other acronym jacket I have so I'll leave that to be continued later.

    Any requests for detail pics?

I spoke to UPS and gave the code 6201.99.8030 and my duties were reduced to $65. If you already paid duties though, it's extremely difficult to get them reduced.

    Few initial thoughts:

Collar – I've liked the folded collar since they originally showed 2.2 with the 3A-1s, and it really is a great refinement. With the last J1A, I always ended up folding the collar over anyways. I don't like the collar up as much, as the collar seems really skinny and high, so its less proportional than previous J1A's, especially without the hood.

Gravity Pockets –The redesigned gravity pockets are an improvement too. Much less in the way, and easier to open and close the zips.

Zippers – I wonder why they decide to keep the shiny zippers vs. the matte zippers on other jackets (like J47). Aesthetically, I like both but the matte zippers feel way smoother to me.

Fit – The sizes on the site were identical to the previous version but it seems a bit boxier. With a J58 underneath, I have much more radial movement than I recall with the last version. Although, it has been a couple years since I last owned it.

Hood – Perfect. The shape is great, and it no longer has those flaps that the last version did. The flaps always bothered the hell out of me so I'm happy they got rid of them. I'm also able to get the hood over my head with the storm collar all the way zipped, which I've not always been able to do with other ACRNM jackets.
