Post soak pics:
I've given these two warm half hour soaks now, and i'm liking where they're at. apologies for all the shots, but i'm pretty pleased with the purchase.
amazingly the inseam has shrunk up 4.5" - will still need to get them hemmed though.
and one final shot just of the denim - rough stuff.

the 1st shot is after a weeks worth of wear maybe.
the 2nd shot is around 10mths i think, and also prior to their first wash or soak ever.
i've since given them a cold wash, and that's just brightened the blue up a bit & got rid of some of the dirt. they look a bit fresher now.
the combs are just from wearing them, nothing more. i love these things - will have to get another pair at some point.

oh the shenanigans.
just to get things back on track, here are some jeans - before & after.
it's called denim people.

Do these stretch from the knee down and leg opening? Because those are the only parts that are a little too tight.
The combs of these are insane... I'm getting more pronounced combs than my 1 year old APCs after only 2 hours of wear.
You may see some stretching over the knee itself from general walking or sitting actions (aka: knee bulge), but unless you actually make a point of trying to stretch them manually from knee down you're unlikely to see much give. If the calf is super tight then it might give a little, but the leg opening won't shift.
From the looks of the photo they don't look physically tight, so it's just your preference i'm guessing. Just wear them & you'll get used to them.
You'll also find the denim will soften up as you wear it more, and that'll change how it sits on your legs. This is what's creating the harsh leg combing, as the denim is still a bit starchy & stiff it's creasing up easily.
But just wear them and it'll all come good for you.

the main reason i lurked on SF for a longtime without posting was because of the very harsh & critical nature of some of the comments & users. it all gets a bit 'school playground' at times, and as somebody who's not in school anymore i figured 'who needs that?'
having said that i agree in part with BOTH Cents & Shinobi, and there is no wrong view here. we all came here because we love our jeans, so if you want to stick a phone in your front pocket go for it. if not, also good.
i myself don't like a phone fade but that's just me & i'm not about to give anyone grief for it, because like Cents said it's about how we each want to wear our jeans.
wear them how you want to wear them. be it without giving any thought to it, or by scrutinizing every aspect of it. it's all each to their own and that's how it should be.
at any rate, this is a page about iron hearts so i'll leave it there....

I need help. If I wear a 31 in Iron Heart 301S and they fit perfect, what size should I got with for the Flathead BSPs?
Thanks
(I feel like I'm between a 32 and 33)
Assuming your 301S, like mine have stretched out 1.5" so that they actually measure 33", i'd be inclined to go for the 33 in the BSP's and hot soak them for 20-30 minutes.
I own 301s that i got in a 30 and now measure 32". I tried to get some BSP's in a 30" but they were easily 2 sizes too small so had to send them back.
Measure your 301S then pick the corresponding size on the SE chart - if 33" then buy the 33. In general after a hot soak they should shrink down from 34 to the tagged size.

they'll stretch back out fine.
i walked around the house for a while in mine after the 1st soak, and they gave a bit even in that short time. unless your balls are being split in two then you'll be fine i reckon.

I think he meant that if they shrink a lot this time that when he wants to soak them again, he will use cold water so they don't shrink as much.
My thought process exactly.
For the record, given how forgiving the denim is i've just done another warm soak, rather than cold.

Good idea, the fit looks awesome, waist looks fine. My waist fit 'perfectly' when I got them (pre-soak) but they are real easy to stretch out. You'll probably find they will stretch out a little too much so a hot soak will happen eventually. +rep
Cheers Cents...
I've thrown them on damp and they're fine. The waist shrunk an inch but does up no problem. The seat & thighs are a tiny bit snug but that's to be expected & they'll stretch back out.
Overall the weave of the denim is actually pretty forgiving so any tight areas will eventually get back to where they should be comfort wise so i'm not concerned. Once they're dry i'll walk around the house in them for a while then cold soak them.
Still can't believe that denim though.....

edit: just noticed somebody already mentioned Corlection. guess it pays to read on.

Anyone know place to buy pbj in melbourne or in Australia ?
There's a store on Pitt St. in Sydney called Corlection http://ithot123.blogspot.com/
that sells PBJ. Also sells Red Wing, Kawatako, LVC, and some lesser known Japanese brands.

Some pre-soak shots below.
They are soaking currently in luke-warm water at the moment.
Depending on how that goes i'll most likely do a cold soak on the 2nd go.

My pair of SExI14's 'just arrived' from SE.
A big middle finger to the EMS delivery guy who made no attempt to deliver them, and then left them in his van for 2 days before dropping them off at my local post office - cheers buddy, 'preciate it.
The character of the denim is amazing though, far surpassing any expectations i had. Thanks to some good sizing advice i think these are spot on for me - got the 32's. Fit/sit just right in the waist and i can stick my thumb inside waistband with ease whilst wearing. So post soak these should be good.
I'll update with pics when i get the chance.

Nice.
They sure do age gracefully

Some 301s pre-wash shots at around 10mths. I'd be happy to not wash them as i love the way they've faded, but i figure i should before they get too soft on me and rip somewhere. Colour is pretty spot on in the shots too..
Post wash will follow later.
Post wash there's not much difference. I think only the slightest bit of indigo came out - fine by me.

I will keep working on them as they're decent jeans, but i'm wearing my IH's more at the moment as it's winter here now - australia.

This thread has died a bit so i thought i'd refresh.
These are some TW-3230 FI's after about 6mths straight wear. I don't really think much of the so-called 'Future Indigo' on these. As mentioned, i've been wearing these almost exclusively for 6mths, and the fade is pretty poor considering they're supposed to fade fast. They're actually fading slower than my IH-301s.
I'll keep working on them, but i don't really anticipate much from them.

As usual my impatience shines through. Not waiting for the new Strike Golds to arrive, just bought some of the Imp's in a 32 instead.

Thanks for the info Cents..
The 32 was my preferred option on these so thanks for confirming. I'm waiting on my FH's to arrive back in SF for store credit before hitting the buy button again.
I'm also toying with Strike Gold 1109's, as SE will have them next week. I know the denim has a similar feel to the 14's, and the post soak measurements to be found on Rakuten look decent - again in the 32.

Will let you know which way i go..

ThinFinn - thanks for the kudos (only just saw - still getting used to the supercontrol thingy)
I got an XS in the shirt, and the 301's are a 30. They were hard going at first given the nature of the denim, but once they softened up and formed to my shape more they became amazing. The measurements on SE are spot on too - i've had about 1.5" of stretch in the waist.

Denim repair in Sydney Au?
in superdenim

I can vouch for Mikhail's work. He's done some work for me numerous times - both chainstitch hemming & repairs. He's a good guy who likes & respects his denim so your jeans will be in safe hands.
The store is in Chatswood Chase - Level 2 i think, towards the back.
