Hey guys, what's the difference in measurements between the 3001 and 3009? Based on a Rakuten picture it looks like a 3001 with a longer rise, and some of the Rakuten sellers have them with a ~38" unwashed inseam, perfect for a tall guy like me. Anyone have experience with this pair? I want a slim fit, if it's got the same hem as the 3001 it should be perfect but I'm not quite sure.
off the top of my head the 3009 is a straight leg fit. the 3001 will definitely be slimmer.

bought my 3001's yesterday, got the perfect fit (i think), they're still @ the shop as the dude was going to soak them for me yesterday then I have to go in and see if he needs to hem them on the only chain stitcher in the southern hemisphere, can't wait to put some time into these....
only chainstitcher in the southern hemisphere? where you at? i'm in Sydney, Australia and know of one here.

depends how hot your water is, but not a huge amount. you'll most likely lose 0.5" in the thigh/knee/hem, 2.5" in the inseam....
i didn't measure mine before & after, but that's pretty standard for Flat Head's denim i think.

my retired pair. Raker, Okayama 14.5 dlx. 9 months in, 1 soak, 1 wash
why are these retired? looks like they're straying into awesome territory to me...

Ande - the new range is looking awesome. Glad to see you're back up & running. If i didn't have a pair of Flat head BSP's waiting in reserve i'd be on this contest like stink on a monkey.

They stretch quite a bit. In hindsight i actually could have got away with sizing down one.

nice to see this thread getting some love again.
nice looking pair. mine are only 3mths old so it's nice to see how they might end up.

So I just pre soaked my FH1001 and I was surprised that the water turne a little blue, like a small tint of blue. I used hot water if that matters and no agitation. IS that normal? Has anyone had that happen to them?
totally normal. and once dry you won't notice any difference.

so ive worn these for few weeks on and off. the waist is pretty snug still, do these jeans stretch a lot?
i bought size 29, maybe want a 30 if someone wants to trade
the weave is pretty loose on these so they'll stretch up quite a bit - just persevere and you'll be fine. mine have actually stretched beyond their raw state in the waist so i find myself doing a warm soak every month just to snug them up a bit.

nietenhosen - real nice texture you've got on those. that last shot makes them look like a pair of Strike Golds.

They're 32's. Im tempted to go down a size to a 31 though. Undecided, but selfedge was sold out of 31's so I would have to wait for a restock. I may just stick with these. Do Iron heart's stretch a lot? My pbj's stretched a quite a lot in the waist.
i reckon you could get away sizing down one. my 301s stretched 1.5" in the waist eventually. sizing down one would essentially get the fit you have now minus all the slack & creasing - so more streamlined. the 301s has a great silhouette, giving it some slack just doesn't do it justice.
but it's your call.

By the way, where did you see that they were going to change the denim? I wasn't aware of that.
If i remember correctly the last range of TW stuff, last year i think, had a singular cut designed by Giles & Haraki which also used a different denim.
if there is new stuff on the way, hopefully the denim will be a little more interesting, as the construction was all top notch.

i wouldn't recommend it. i did it and it took a good long while of being uncomfortable to get the waist back out again.
