  1. I'll bump up this thread as I'm starting to look for a nice raw denim shirt to pick up for the fall.  I like the look of the Rogue Territory Denim shirt, and the pics of the Nudi Gunnar look pretty nice.  Anyone wear those?  I'd love to see how they have settled in. But, finding a raw denim shirt seems to be pretty tough around here... looks like they get released, then never really remade until the next season?

Anyone have good lead on other shirts?

I have the RgT Utility shirt and a PBJ Deep Indigo Western shirt.  I really like the RgT shirt because it fits so well, but it seems like a really slow fader.  I'm starting to see fades on the PBJ and it's shaping up to be really nice.

  2. Funnily my biggest sizing mistakes happened during the last year (WH 800, WH 660, Samurai 710OG and recently 710BKB). In most cases I can't even tell what went arong, but there's something about a fit that the size charts don't seem to tell.

A few years ago it was pretty easy as I had 14 kgs less and could wear 32-33 with ease. No I'm leaning towards a 35,which is rarely done and so I end up getting too big or too small pairs. The ratio of the rise, the hip width and thighs are something that can be hardly judged from the sizing charts and as this my crucial area to make a fit work, I often sell the bad fits immediately. Maybe I should try and stretch them for longer but can't stand sitting at the desk for hours with a muffin top.

I fear my next purchase will have to be made in my local store, which might lead to me getting a standard pair of Iron Hearts or the like, but I finally want a pair that fits, fabric is only my third concern.

(Which reminds me of dear atzec, that left the japanese denim for nudies a while ago. Glad he's back in the game, though).

Sorry to hear the news and hope it works out for you.  I wonder if the waist will stretch beyond raw.  I hope you keep with it because I'm very curious how those Sams will turn out.

I am really tempted on purchasing size 34 710 Samurai's 17oz Black Shadow because the yen is so weak right now.  The sizing will be really cutting it close because of the back rise and waist being too low and tight.  Now after reading this, I will pass.  I'm still salty for sizing too tight for PBJ x-15s.

  3. Uhg, sorry to hear that.

I'll post pictures when I get them back.  I sent a pair a while back to Detroit Denim to get the crotch repaired and I don't think the job was as good as Railcars.  I want to support local Midwest businesses and didn't want to wait for the longer turnover time with Railcar, so we'll see.....

Or another question would be what would you rather have? A sloppy chain stitch or a clean single stitch hem job?

  4. buddy check the 3sixteen 30bsp, 32bsp cuts. They're very spot on.

My most recent frustration was a pair of Samurai's i had hemmed at a local Denim company here in Detroit. They hemmed one leg an inch shorter than the other.....This was after 3-4 not so hot hem jobs from them so i dont know why i ever went back.

Detroit denim? I just sent 2 pairs of pants to get hemmed there........

  5. Pronto X PBJ collab

Fit check, what do you all think? I'm trying to decide if I want a full/regular cut vs a tailored taper.  It definitely feels weird to actually have thigh/knee mobility and crotch space for a change.

  6. Came across the 18 oz PBJ denim in a recent Lightning Mag. Too bad it's only available in a Slim fit so far. Would love to see that in a roomier fit - could be my next pair then.

It would be hype to see you fade a pair of PBJs, they are amazing jeans. I'd say the x-15s are more of a skinny, than slim fit (very tight in the thighs and knees).  That 18oz looks sick though.

  7. FWIW, I have the x-15 which were too tight in the thighs and knees.  I thought they would have stretched out but didn't.  Now, I have crotch blowout number 2 in less than 6 months of real wear.

  8. Great evo on those 20 ouncers Chubacca, how many washes?  And how much real wear time would you guess those have on 'em?

Off the top of my head, I think I washed them 4 times in 2 years.  Tough to say with real wear time because I wore them mostly on the weekends, but wore them in some pretty hostile environments camping/kayaking/desert/moshing/hiking/clubbing....:)

  9. Final Contest pictures.  It has been an honor competing with everyone on this board and community.  This was the first time I have ever done anything like this and had a really fun time.  It's been an amazing 2 year journey and definitely have some fond memories/stories with my jeans.

Special thanks to Mega and anyone else who has set this up.  Now, I'm contemplating if I should enter the next competition with the same pair....

  10. last few updates. this might be the second last update for this comp i guess.

so here goes nothing. PBJ 007-24oz approx. 20-21 months of wear.

Amazing fades and I think one of the best in the competition

  11. Congrats Cander! That's badass you got something a bit different than a diamond.  Makes me wonder how many girls out there in the world would be ok with not having a diamond and something different.  The ring definitely pops with the color contrast.

Just looking at the previous pages, there are so many amazing fades and winners.  Just amazing.

Some updates and repairs.  I sent my Flatheads to Railcar for repairs and these are the pics I sent them.  With a professional repair/darning, I hope this will extend the life by a couple of more years.  A bunch of small little holes and the crotch/seat needs to be reinforced.  I really wish I knew how to do self repairs and sew.... :(
