  1. I'm going to Stockholm for a week in September, but I will likely be working for most of each day (unfortunately!). Where should I be spending my evenings? Not looking for clubs, but bars, cafes, etc.--anything open after 5. I want to see as much of the city as possible while I'm there under these somewhat limited circumstances.

Svartengrens - great cocktail bar in Vasastan. www.svartengrens.se, also The Corner Club is another bar for cocktails.

For food I'd check out Rolfs Kök, Råkultur, Adam/Albin and Babette.

Clubs: Trädgården, Moon Motel. Also check facebook and residentadvisor.net for underground warehouse clubs

  2. Stockholm scene report

Lilla Ego- best meal of trip. Incredibly lucky to grab a 3top at the bar and watch the chef go through the nights service. Ordered wildly with no abandon. Many picklebacks. Drank Oregon pinot from where i live for 10x the price. Had smoked raindeer cheese bun bomb. 52 degree steak. every desert. talked w. chef, felt welcome, and fortunate to experience it on a random walk in.

Rolfs Kok - great meal, had a pork  dish with an amazing crispy skin on top, tasted like meat candy cracker. Nice service, nothing out of this world, just great food. Had some melted cheese and wild mushroom dish that hit home.

Wish i ate more of the restaurants pikko posted but work trips are hard to get everyone on the same page. After lilla ego, they let me steer the food ship

Mean coffee- every day cardamon bun and a cappuccino. Great spot.

Ate at vasa museum cafe, and fotografika cafe and really enjoyed their simple lunch of herring sandwiches.

Snotty bar - Went a few times, felt like a good crowd, met some good people, nice music.

Nitty gritty- great store, good staff. Lots of nice things. I like the brand range there.

Bought a few basics at weekdays, and aplace. Felt like urban outfitters but Scandinavian? Kind of wish they had these in the states.

Amazing city. Love the food. Incredible attractive people. Got all sunny days with nice temps.

Favorite moment was biking around skeppsholmen at sunset taking in all the city views.

Wish we caught the weekend to see how tiergarten goes

It was weird to see all bars closing shop around 1am, is this normal for during the week?

Sounds like you had a great time! :) Yep that's pretty common. The government doesn't like dancing and drinking after certain times... If you are lucky the club you're at on a weekday close 5. Of course we have some illegal clubs keeping open much longer than that though. But the rules for a legal club are pretty lame imo.

  3. dunno if this appropriate, but I'll be in göteborg for way out west in early aug. Any recs for eating out there?

I'd check this one out: http://restaurangkoka.se/ haven't been myself but only heard nice things about them.

For your coffee fix, check out http://kaleikaffebar.se/ or http://damatteo.se/kafe/

And for shopping I'd suggest https://www.nk.se/en/nk-gothenburg/ and http://www.artilleriet.se/

Have fun :) Gothenburg is a lovely city!

  4. Couldn't find the discounts thread so I'm posting here. First come first served.

When I bought my CP white summer editions from Tres Bien I got a 10% discount code with my shipping (as usual? :))

    Here it is:

    PRE-FW14-NUF86

Enjoy you one lucky bastard that sees this!

  5. Haha, great to see that Aesop has quite a following over here! I am able to answer most if not all of the questions you guys have regarding its skincare line :)

My skin is kind of oily with acne from time to time...

I've been using these products before with an OK result. Now I think I can get a better result with other products.

    Oil control foam wash: http://goo.gl/T3dtyn

    Oil control daily moisturizer: http://goo.gl/gy5hXx

The main reason I bought these was to try something new, bought it at the pharmacy.

Do you have any suggestions regarding Aesop and similar products?

Ps. I'm 23 years old, so I know that I'll have to be patient with my skin. I use those products twice a day, on the morning and before bed.

  6. So I decided to buy a Gaggia Classic, and just bought a Rancilio Silvia steam pipe, what a difference with the Silvia pipe! Beautiful steamed milk :)

    Here's some pics

    My Gaggia with standard pipe:

    With replaced pipe:

Now I just need a new mill and I'm 100% good to go.

    Looove it :)

  7. Really inspirational stuff there Jack! Can't wait to reach that higher state of mind you're talking about!

Talking about injuries, was out running this morning and after one km I felt this hard stroke on the downpart of my back. It happened while I was running upwards a hill (not too steep).

I searched the web a bit and found some stuff about training too hard might lead to injuries. I run about 2-3 times a week and have been doing so for about a month.

Another thread I found searching my injury suggested that both training your back and your abs will help you not injure yourself.

I'm pretty new to running, haven't been doing it that much this year, and I'm not that fit when it comes to abs and back.

What do you think? Could it be a combination of both? It hurts down my hams (left side) when I sit or run. :(

  8. sure, stockholm will be fun for you. I live here but I doubt you will have fun for three months.

(to state the obvious) stockholm is pretty small compared to paris or barcelona so you'll get tired after 10 days or so.

i'd go to paris for 1.5 month and would spend the rest of the time in copenhagen, stockholm, milan and berlin.

  9. about 20 mins or thereabouts?

first time i used it i thought it was taking ages to warm up, turns out the light goes off when it's @ operating temp, i was waiting for the light to come on to tell me it was ready, lol

    breville smart grinder

    awesome combo!

ahh okay, that's pretty ok I guess. i don't know which one to buy now, tough choice!

  10. ^ i've got a silvia, no problems with heating times? put it on when I get up, ready to go by the time i get out the shower!

hmm ok, how many mins does it take to heat?

edit: and what grinder do you use? :)

  11. planning to buy a Gaggia Classic with a Rancilio Silvia steam pipe for better steaming. also a Compak K-3 mill for the beans. just waiting to find the right price... the Rancilio Silvia takes a little too long to heat unfortunately. otherwise I'd go with a Silvia.
