  1. mpukas - i have every pair of jeans you mentioned, along with the large thighs.

my waist is 32, and here's what works for me:

634s W32 (I have enough room in the thighs)

5000 W33 (or 634s + 1" is my recommendation) these fit me pretty good.  not constricting anywhere

2105 W33 (634s + 1")  like you said above, i get the tight thighs and loose waist.

510 W33 (I had the legs tapered to match my 634s, and I love this jeans. I shoulda gone TTS or maybe sized down one).

If you go with the 5000, 34W is my recommendation to accommodate your thighs.

If you go with the 510's, I'd size by the waist, not the thigh. Just keep in mind these don't fit like the 5000's.  They aren't low rise and you'll have a lot of room below the knee.

It sounds like you want the heavier samurai's, but i'm gonna also recommend SDA 103 W35.  Similar to the 5000 but no hip flare.

Also, check our BF's fit guide.

  2. Hi everybody,

I'm new to this forum and kinda new to japanese jeans, but I'm interested in buying a sd-103 as I guess that this fit is really nice. I'm not sure about the actual measurements as I can't try them on in a store. So I must order some pair and would like to know about your experiences if they are true to size?!

You guessed right.  Check out BiG for measurements.  The 103 is a slim straight cut with a low back rise, fitted top block.  for someone young and/or relatively lean, TTS is probably your best bet on the 103. If you have large quads relative to your waist, you might consider sizing up 1.   I've got over 20 pairs of Japanese denim (I need counseling, obviously) and the 103 is hands-down my favorite cut.  Good choice.

  3. s5000vx 24oz: the first time i wore these in public i was embarrassed. they were so freakishly heavy and ridiculous. fast forward 2 years and my only regret is not buying another pair when they were released.

sda 101: probably my best fit.

sda 103: sized up 2 on these. second best fit.

    0500xx: only for the comfort.

don't really have a #5. plenty to choose from but for one reason or another they aren't making my list.

  4. can someone tell me what sort of cut the SD-103 is?

    is it like skinny jean?

103 is a (for lack of a better term) "simple" cut. low back rise, sits on the hips, fitted arse. biggest complaint is they don't taper enough below the knee for some. not skinny.

  5. can anyone help?

ehhh.. not really samurai related and should be in a different thread, but here goes..

I'm 5'-6" and usually wear a size 9 shoe. So..

If leg opening >= 8.5 in., must wear boots or look leg opening swallows shoe

If 8.25 in < leg opening < 8.5, then boots or anything else

If leg opening <= 8.25, boots will destroy chain stich in short order, so basically must wear shoes..

Sorry if I made this more complicated.

  6. Can anyone else comment on the sizing of 3009? I went through the search results and noone else mentioned tts. Any other 3009 owners care to comment? How about after stretch?

I'm a size 33 (skin tight thighs that i stretch out) in the N&F weird guy. I have very muscular thighs and ass, but about a 32 inch waist.

    Thanks

I'll attemp a response here.. I've got muscular everything (no homo), wear a 32 in ih634s and recently picked up a 33" 3009. Glad I sized up one on the 3009s. Coulda gone up 2 even, like I did on my SDA 103s. If thighs are your controlling dimension.. I would not go TTS on the 3009.

  7. All the Rustler wearing farmer's, construction workers etc. I've seen have fades that often outshine pairs on here...

the nicest fades (to me) i've ever seen in person were a pair of rustlers worn by a construction worker on my jobsite last summer. i rememer heading straight back to the office and looking up the rustler website to try and figure out what he had on. my dads old sears toughskins that i used to make fun of as a kid were (looking back) incredible also. i remember he said he wore them because they were cotton/polyester/nylon and he could get 6 months of life out of em on the farm.

rip dad. you were cool in ways i couldn't comprehend. :)

    do this contest.

    please.

  8. these look incredible! how hot would you say the denim is? The heaviest I've ever tried is 21oz from Iron Heart, so hopefully the weave on these is also a little loose, fit is fantastic

thanks, wish i could answer your question, but i haven't had the chance to wear em in the hottest months around here (july/august). i think they breathe, but not as much as 21oz IH's. while the weave isn't as tight as.. say SD'A, i imagine these would be pretty miserable in the middle of july for most.

another difference b/n the IH 21oz & Sam 24oz (27oz after soak i read) is that my 634s softened up after a month or two of wear, where these sams really haven't in comparison. they remain pretty rigid and the creases are sharp.

these are beasts and i love em! (at least 9 months out of the year) :D have you checked out IH 25oz?

  9. b_F

    I wear 34s in S0500 and I have 34s in SD103s.

    These S5000VX shrank to 33" waist...I am a true 35".

I soaked the S5000VX 24oz in cold water for 90min, and hung to dry.

I felt like Gulliver's travels, I couldn't go past the 3rd button. Still can't do the top button. I say size up 1.

    Weird - I have 34s in SD 103s and S5000 24oz. After two 90 min. back-to-back hot soaks/hang drys, my S5000's are still loser than my 103s.

  10. So everyone liked it is the reason why you don't like it?

No, but I certainly reserve the right to do so. (E.T. for example)

    1) It's a plastic bag & you're an idiot.

    2) Lester tells his wife, "It's just stuff!" when she gets pissed at him for almost spilling beer on the couch. In the PREVIOUS scene, Lester bought a 1970 Firebird. What would happen if his wife almost spilled beer on one of the seats? Is it still "just stuff?" You're just.. so liberated man. Except of course.. you're not.

    3) So if you're ex-military you: beat your son. watch regan reruns in black and white. hate women/your wife. collect nazi memorabilia. hate gays yet you're secretly a HUGELY repressed homo. murder your neighbor. Why not just cast Rush Limbaugh and be done with it.. Maybe throw in a back-alley abortion just in case no one got your subtly.

    4) You're a super-outta-this-world person if you almost screw your teenage daughter's friend but at the last moment don't.

    5) "An ocean of time.." Wow. So deep. Academy award for sure.

I could go on, but I won't. If you liked it, great. To me it's a dated, weak, hypocritical mess and I can't empathize with the absurd "suburban white-people my life sucks yet i drive a mercedes" problems. Especially after getting so much critical acclaim.

  11. I'm interested in this one. Explain?

American beauty - have you seen it? my hatred for it is hard to summarize, and is somewhat political, so i'd probably be better off not getting into it. but a lot of people loved it & it won a shitload of awards.

i won't argue that it wasn't well-made with good performances.
