Seems like it's more a problem with the rubber half sole than it is with the nails. A repair shop should be able to fix that pretty easily, though.
If you're really into the DIY vibe, I'd pull the nails, reglue the sole edge, (using something like Barge leather cement) coat the nails with more glue, then hammer them back into the original holes. I'm always hesitant to make additional holes in leather, unless it's absolutely necessary.

Damn, I've got to get a pair of those Elhaus jeans. That denim is just beautiful. And the Reservoir Hood is pretty great looking, too. I love the steel clips.

^very true. I wore my 0905SP the other day and fell in love with the denim again.
This happens to me every time I wear my 0905SP, too.
I still find it hard to get past the pink inseam stitching. It's just so garish when raw.
Really, it fades pretty quickly. I was put off by it initially, but it's not very noticeable any more. You really should give in and try a pair. You know you want to...

Winner?
I mean, he gets a free meal, and everyone loves that, right? On the other hand, he has to wear that embarrassing hospital gown looking tee shirt, and that's just sad.

If Roy was making jeans with the focus only on what would sell the fastest, he wouldn't be putting out an 11oz pair with a cinch back. Clearly, this is a dude who's making stuff because he thinks it's interesting, and he's just hoping other folks will, too.
And I've gotta say, the details just get better and better with each model. The rivets, the taped fly, the new patch; this is just great stuff.

I do love Buc-ee's.
I went to Franklin once and got to hold the "Last Man Standing" sign. The brisket was great, the sausage was ok, and the wait was, though short by Franklin standards, too long for either. I've been to both Kreutz Market and Black's in Lockhart, which are excellent, but I still prefer Luling's City Market.

So here's my entry in the "Road Trip" category. Today I spent a lot of time in the car. I started out before dawn, so I could be in Jourdanton, TX at 9 am.After an hour and $3 in copies, I was done.Since I live in Houston, I don't see cacti very often, but around this part of Texas, they're more common. It appears that they're in some sort of growth phase currently.Kinda cool looking.While I was standing on the side of the road taking pictures, I noticed this cute little fella.Then I rolled up to Austin to run a quick errand. 15 minutes in an anonymous office park and I had this guy hitching a ride in the back seat.By that time, I was ready for lunch, so I drove down to my favorite barbecue place in Texas, City Market in Luling.What says "road trip" more than Red Bull and beef jerky?And after that, it was back on the road and home to Houston. All told, a bit over 500 miles and a bit over 8 hours in the car. Fun times.6

The loden green is really nice. I have a nearly identical pair to the ones BrownMetallic posted and the leather is some of the best I've seen (mine weren't dried out, which is an interesting difference). I've had them for about 10 months of moderate wear, and they've changed to a more olive shade.

Thanks for the update! These were the most interesting pair of jeans I wanted to see evo from this contest. From what I'm seeing, it looks like this pair and other SDA jeans are stubborn on fading....
Actually, I think the opposite- these are fading faster than pairs I have from Iron Heart, Oni and Momotaro, and nearly as fast as my pair of Samurais. The misleading factor is that I am colossally slow to fade a pair of jeans. I'm sure that lots of people would have wiped them out by now. That said, I'm really enjoying wearing this pair.

The honesty is refreshing.
Now, how about some fit pics when you get everything squared away?

Been a while since I last posted pictures. Since I had to wash them yesterday, (Potty training can be a bumpy road sometimes. Let's just leave it at that.) now seemed like a good time to rectify the issue.
So, here are my SDA Xs-33 with right around five months of wear. Unsurprisingly for those who know me, they look very much like they did when new...
To answer one of the frequent questions about this denim- yes, the neps eventually wear away. When they do, the denim looks reasonably smooth, but starts to show signs of falling fades. I anticipate beautiful things with this pair; maybe even before the contest ends.

Sorry to segregate the population, but this is a question for the bigger fellers (5'10"+, 185lbs+). What brands have you had the most luck with, in terms of fit. And not borderline fit, but a comfortable one. Verifiable loopwheel aside, Barns, Iron Heart, and FilMelange stick out as legit options. What else have you guys come across?
I'm 6'0", 180ish and I stick with Iron Heart (size Large), Triple Works (size Large) and Flat Head (size 44). All are pretty comfortable, though I did buy a Flat Head "Wide Body" by mistake, and it's definitely loose fitting. In fact, I plan on selling it when I finally get around to taking some pictures.

Railcar Fine Goods has done it for a few people. Might try contacting them, if you're serious about it.

... I'm still using 'paint' for any <ahem> artistic work so that portrays my level of software ability with image software. Have been meaning to work out how exactly to use gimp but whenever I open the application I end up shutting it down again in resignation.
It makes me feel good to know that I'm not the only one.

Same with mine.

There may well be a subtle change to next years HWDC USA meet up.....
You're in charge, but SF would be cooler.
That said, I'll be there, regardless of where "there" is.

Clueless is my favorite Sunday afternoon movie, I'll admit to that.
HC-SF-81, wearing Steel Feather.
I don't care what anyone thinks, I love Clueless, and I'm man enough to admit it.
Seriously, Wallace Shawn, Dan Hedaya and lines like, "Remember one thing: I have a gun and a shovel. No one will miss you." Who can hate that?

My pair of 211 didn't stretch that much; basically back to pre-soak measurements. The following measurements are for when they were straight out of the package, then after a machine wash and dry, and finally what they are today, after a year of wear and 9 washes.
Size 34
waist: 36->34->35
r rise: 15->14.5->15
f rise: 10.5->10.5->11
thigh: 13.25->13->13.25
knee: 10->9.5->9.75
hem: 9.25->9->9.25

I can't wait to see the dirt challenges come in
I gave it a shot-
Still might give the movie poster challenge a go, just for the heck of it. El Toro won this round, so the pressure's off to do anything good. And Megatron did the most pathetic, so pressure's off on the worst end, too.

Those really are lovely boots.

Hey easy now, no pressure eh?
Haha alls good, I see some action going on, ain't much since I've had them for just over 2 weeks now. Not sure how I'm going to keep up with the rest of these crazy fast fading folks. I'll just have to assure myself that its 2 years, if they keep it up, they might have white jeans at the end! ^.^
Nah, no pressure at all. Just that you have the only pair right now, so I'll be interested in checking out what happens with them. I like the denim that's new and untested. Makes the journey more interesting if you have no idea what the end result could be. That's why I'm wearing the SDA nep weave denim. Total mystery how it's going to age.

You folks wanted the details on the Elhaus x NK 01 pair. I took some time today to post it.

After reading the review, I'm even more interested in these. Watching the evolution over the next two years is going to be great- definitely one of the most unique pairs in the whole contest. And NoKipple will be hearing from me when they open.

Figured it was about time for my challenge entry. Here's the result of refinishing a section of my garage wall:

Really looking forward to seeing the write up and more pictures of the Elhaus pair. Fantastic looking depth of color to the denim.

Crat's boots are always a refreshing change of pace from the parade of White's. Not that I mind all the photos of White's boots, mind you...
