  1. my trusty umbrella finally gave out and i need suggestions on a well constructed umbrella that's not ridiculously expensive (probably willing to spend $100-150). i've had the same Ralph Lauren one for many years and honestly i'd probably get the same exact one if they had it, but they don't and $275 on another color is a bit much for settling.

pretty much looking for a stick umbrella. i like the London Undercover ones, but the prints aren't that great. i've also heard good things about the Brooks Brothers umbrellas, however it looks like a lot of the pieces are made of plastic. any suggestions or brands would help! it's perpetually rainy as fuck in Berkeley and i need to get a new one before the semester starts

I've had a bros one for about a year now and havent had a single problem with it. Very sturdy and classic. Pretty much what one would expect.

Unfortunately, I left mine at school, so I cant check how much plastic there is, however, it has kept form while others surrounding me were having their umbrellas being turned inside out from the elements.

  2. Its nice to know that he (Kanye) cares about style and silhouettes enough to experiment with it until he gets it just right. And hey, as silly as Kanye cosplayers may look, he has at least inspired them to try something new by using his influence to drive fashion into the consciousness of his fans. I am happy to see people choosing to become knowledgeable about clothing in the same way that people have been knowledgeable about music and movies. Fashion is an especially interesting form of entertainment because it visually communicates the personality of a person in the present where music and movies provide an idea of a person or group at a particular point in a time already past.

Kanye wearing a skirt that looks bad isn't expanding fashion the masses; it just makes him a bad role model.

  3. Depends where the tightness is located but generally yes they will loosen up.

With leather shoes like this you are usually better off getting them as tight as possible since leather can stretch. Mine were almost painful when I tried them on but I worked through it.

    Day 1 = discomfort

    Day 3 = minor irritation

    Day 20 = barely noticeable

    Day 30 = perfect fit

I disagree with this. Leather shoes do form and stretch; to an extent. However, they should never be even close to causing you pain. If your feet hurt in them, they're too small.

Sounds like you should size down though.

  4. Does anyone here have or are working towards a degree in philosophy?

If so, what the fuck do you do for a living?

I'm in my senior year of school and the only feasible future for my philosophy degree is grad school.
