  1. Hi Guys,

New here but been lurking for a bit, decided on a pair of LVC 47 501s as my first pair of raw jeans. Just wondering though, im a size 36 in normal cheap jeans, should i get a size up when buying LVC to account for shrink?

    Thanks!

Yes, go to Paul T's website:

    http://www.trynka.net/Site/501%201947.html

Scroll towards the bottom to see a comparison pic of 47/55.

  2. It seems vintage (and LVC) jeans in small and medium sizes are fairly easy to come by, but when you start getting up to the 38"+ sizes, they peter out...Is it they just didn't make that many in the bigger sizes, or they were worn by large workers that wore them to destruction, making them difficult to source in the aftermarket?

Any thoughts/info on why this may be would be appreciated :)

Cultizm has quite a few clearance LVC in large sizes.

  3. That would definitely be an improvement.

They should also figure out a way to do vintage inspired jeans that could be the 2010 model of the future. Nothing too wacky. I personally don't want anything goofy just to be goofy. Maybe look outside of Levi for some small long gone companies for ideas. Be a little less insular. Celebrate what they started even when another company had a good idea.

Looks like they got a 201XX for 2010 - inspired by... 201XX of the olden days...

Maybe electrum can pick it up.

Oops... Looks like someone already posted it in the STF... Thread... Weird no one mentioned the Tobacco STF that's new....

  4. I just received a pair of the LVCJ 1967 501 "F-type" from eBay. They were pre-owned (he said, "washed twice")... Kind of a weird jean, but I bought them for less than $35.00.

Just wondering, anyone else own these?

  5. Anyone every get this before? I don't feel comfortable doing this so I guess they lost my sale. Never had this before and it was weirder because they did a Verified by Visa at the end of the transaction.

I tried ordering from both www.natterjacks.com and www.jingoclothing.com multiple times, I received your message from natterjacks and much the same from jingoclothing. Both those places are horrible, at least, to US customers.

  6. Current price depends on where you're buying from...

A few weeks ago someone in this thread mentioned working at a Levi's store and being able to buy LVC at wholesale pricing, which was between $60 and $70 IIRC. So that means it actually cost Levis what, $20, $30 a pair to produce these jeans?

I believe you're referring to the following:

thanks! yep I believe the 606 are the models that the ramones wore. I got these about 2 years ago when I worked at Levi's. They had a program for employees called "EPP (employee purchase plan)" and we could buy a lot of things (including Cap Es, LVCs) at wholesale price. As long as you had the SKU, and they had it in the warehouse, they sold you whatever. I don't think LVC 606's were ever sold in retail stores in the US, at least not the raw/deadstock. Got this one for like 60 bucks if I can remember. The color is hard to capture correctly i'll try again when I can with my point and shoot.

In case anyone wanted to know...

  7. The link doesn't work...

    Works for me...

    Anyways, here's the info:

    "Old 73's"

    $39.00 (plus $8.00 shipping)

These are close reproductions of the original Levis that sold on Ebay for $46,000 !

These pants are high waisted, just like the originals.

They have button fly, suspender buttons,

back belt cinch, two front pockets and one back pocket.

    Made of 100% heavy cotton

Colors available -- Chocolate brown, Buckskin tan, Black, and Blue denim.

Not all colors are available in all sizes, so please email or call for availability.

Sizes available from 32 to 42

    Made in the USA !

  8. Any way to determine if Lees are Edwin made? Because there's nothing on the pair of jeans that says: "Edwin", right?

If the pair of Lees are made in Japan... does that signify they are Edwin made?

  9. Dom have you ever seen photos of mine? I wore them raw for almost 6 months before they hit water. I would highly recommend just wearing as long as absolutely possible.

Sounds good. I'll try and do that and post some fit pics later.

I'll probably have to double-cuff them. Pretty light-weight.

There's some room in the waist, but not too much.

I have a pair of 54's that I'll probably wear raw, also.
