  1. Went to the Levi's site to look at maybe getting another pair of the 501xx selvage STFs and the new restocks look way different than the 501xx I ordered last July :( So much for that.

If you order a pair of the Levi 501XX rigid selvedge, post some pics. I read the one review they had about the stitching...

"So I've had several pairs of the 501XX rigid selvedge, and liked them a lot.

I was elated to see them back in stock, until I noticed the odd white stitching. Seriously?

Honestly, Levis. You had a great thing going on. Upgrading the denim/indigo quality for the 501 was an outstanding idea, but if you want to do trendy gimmicky girl-jean stuff, don't do it on 501's!

So I would recommend the rigid selvedge 501's to a friend as soon as they make them right again. Hopefully it was just a screwup with this batch."

Just curious to see how "bad" the white stitching is... Or if it's even white arcuates and not lemon/yellow like they have on some LVC Levi's.

  2. ^ how much did you pay for that keychain btw? that's just cordage with a bow shackle… o_O

    crank bros? http://everyday-carry.com/post/858699772/submitted-by-twowords-picked-this-up-today

    topeak? http://everyday-carry.com/post/1130813739/topeak-mini-20-pro-via-utility-journal-submitted

Regular price; I don't feel badabout supporting the company and don't have time to make one myself, but maybe in the future. Thanks for the terms (ie. cordage and bow shackle)!

The crank bros multi tool is solid and I'd definitely recommend it! I've had to use it to replace chain in a race and it worked perfectly.

Bought myself an orange manix 2 and a serrated native. Reviews/pictures when I get some extra time.

    Happy holidays EDCers!

Thanks for the reply! Look forward to the reviews and pictures.

  3. ^ I dig. I'd love to see more of these!

x POST from Levi's Vintage Clothing thread.

LEVI 501Z XX 1954 (worn by me, 6 months +/-)

    Enjoy the infamous 54 LVC!

Also, I ordered the LEVI x Billy Reid Trucker Jacket... They'll soon arrive (next week, probably). Let me know if you'd want pictures of that jacket.

  4. Thanks again guys. This was great info. I'm curious though, Josh, what it is about the '54 that you don't like. Is it the denim itself?

I might be one of the few, but I like the fit on the '54 and I have a couple other LVC's. If you'd like, I'll post a "fit pic" later this week. (Been worn on/off for months, though)

  5. Here's my 1954 501's. 1954 501Z XX.

These have been worn regularly for 6 months +/-. No soak/wash and I don't plan on soaking/washing until 12 months or more. It's darker in real life and I wouldn't say there is much fading. I think the outside light exaggerated some of the details.

  6. Sorry, I didn't notice this, but I see Dr Heech has answered comprehensively.

THese have lovely, very hairy fabric, very like late 60s Levi's; please do post as many photos as you can because we've not had a decent pair of these recently.(The whole front, the whole abck, and the insides). I suspect these will wear in very nicely - good pickup.

Here's some photos (sorry, it took a couple days):

    Levi's Capital E - 60's 501 Repro - circa 1994.

Found the booklet tucked inside one of the front pockets... Haven't even read it yet.

  7. @Dom

They were the first capital E reissues, made before Levis Vintage Clothing was born. They were made 0594, according to the info on the tag you have given. They are a generic 1966 based repro, but made with the same denim as some of the early Lvc IIRC.

Nice find, and with the box too. Hope you didnt pay too much for 'em?

    Thanks for the help.

Around $115 including shipping. Thought it was good considering LVC prices now.

  8. I just bought and received these off eBay!

I know these aren't LVC, but...

Anyone know the age on these? I think they're based on the 1966 cut.

Behind the inner tag, it reads:

    555 0594 47513-4

    501 0001

    Anyone else seen/own these? Like/dislike?

  9. I think having the CGI out the hand in every episode will probably be too big a pain in the ass for them to do unless there is a huge storyline payoff.

The last thing I remember in the comic was them moving into a prison facility and having a fallout with the inmates. Then a badass black chick shows up and steals the football player away from the white chick, who goes crazy. How far past that is the comic currently?

I believe that was in Book #3.

I recently finished Book #4 (4th year). I'm pretty sure they just released Book #6 on October 26, 2010. Could be wrong, but I know it was recent because I work at a bookstore. I think they're around 80 issues, 12 issues per year/book.

  10. A couple interesting quotes from first article above.

-We have no campaign: zero advertising. We don’t need that. We are in the business of selling poetry. How can you advertise poetry?

-This is the new vintage. In the future these jeans will be the next collector’s items.

-We have the idea to establish a LVC blog in the next few months. It will be very consumer- interactive.

-Although LVC was born in 1999 it was never global. It was a much smaller selection of products and was distributed in different ways in Europe, Japan or the US. There was no consistency. There was a desire for that kind of product but it was never fully developed. So in 2009 Levi’s decided to open a new division called XX which is nothing more than a unit that takes care of and develops the top of the pyramid of Levis brands...

-As a kind of nickname, LVC is workwear and Made & Crafted is churchwear.
