  1. Oh, yeah? I wore it last winter in Montreal and did. So...to each his own, I suppose.

ah, well, we're typically a good 5-7 degrees warmer than y'all. i imagine i'd want the patrol coat if i was in mtl. the galvanic is ideal for toronto because its cold weather comes more from the wind chill than the actual temperature.

  2. Galvanic's kinda dope. Lack of insulation from the waist down and a two-way front zip are things to take into consideration, though.

lack of two-way zip is a bigger issue than the insultation below the waist, imo - i live in toronto wear my galvanic as my primary winter coat and have never wished it was insulated all the way down.

  3. Thanks for posting the interview quasky, I'm halfway through it right now. Very enjoyable!

Interesting point about never marking down Acronym stuff. It must have been a rare occurrence but I saw a few pieces at 50% off on NittyGritty a few months back.

interesting - i'm sure it does happen, but they would have been asked not to.

Selling an unworn 2012 Temple of Jawnz Suede T1 in black. Love this jacket but it's a little small on me, so I've gotta let it go. Tough to capture the colour, so I've shot it with and without flash - it's a rich, deep black, really shows it's quality under light. Tons of texture, really stunning in person. Perfect weight for spring, fall, and summer evenings. Has never been worn outside the house, so it's in immaculate condition. The bottom button broke during shipping from my parents' house, but it has been repaired with replacement buttons shipped to me by Dan from TOJ - so, this jacket will actually ship with two extra buttons in case you ever need replacements.

Starting this at $550 + shipping - will ship with tracking and insurance. Located in Toronto so happy to meet up with local buyers. ALL OFFERS CONSIDERED - leaving the country for a couple months soon and want to move this before then.

    Measurements:

    body length, front 21.0"
    body length, back 23.0"

Best for short dudes, but the TOJ cut is very forgiving. PM for more info, photos, etc.

  5. he's an E2 but that is good enough to make any amount of money you want. You just gotta rub the right clit and flatter the right people here, because the salaries for whitey range from 2 mil to unlimited won. I've met guys with no qualifications and no reason to be here be put into directorial and CEO positions of multinational companies in Korea. It's a lot to do with how you rub Korean people and how slyly aggressive you are, and how much you know you can get from them, or least hedge on.

would love to have an in-depth conversation about this. i'm gonna be in canada for eight months, then shanghai for two, but after that i think i'll probably make my way back to seoul, and i sure as shit don't want to be making 2.3 + housing when i do.

  6. yeah, i think the key is just being vigilant and not taking the first moderately decent job that comes your way. that's what i did and i'm not making nearly as much as i could be.

also, what's your visa status? if you've got an f2 you can make a ton of cash and not have to deal with hagwon/public school bs.

  7. hey does any of you guys have the hook up for a higher paying english teaching job in seoul. after being pretty much disappointed in being back home, im really wanting to go back to seoul. ive done some searches but nothing catching my eye yet.

what sort of salary are you looking for? like 2.7-2.8 range?

  8. whitehurst puzzles me. wasnt all that great in college, and havent payed much attention to him in the pros, but heseing the eventual starter for the hawks.

have to wonder about a guy who couldn't beat out billy volek for back-up duties.

as a seahawks fan, i couldn't be happier with how that draft went down. okung was a no-brainer, and earl thomas is a great pick. great ball skills, has already shown he can make pre-snap adjustments... dude will make some plays in the nfl. plus, we'll be finally be rid of fuckin' julius jones.

  9. experimental music in seoul

wicked post, ruach, exactly what i've been looking for. been searching for good local acts since i got here around three months ago, and haven't found much besides crummy punk bands at ff. will be checking some of this stuff out.

i'll definitely echo the sentiment that there's way more fun to be had hanging with koreans than with other foreigners. almost all the other foreigners i know are english teachers, and we, as a group, are mostly mutants.

  10. in no particular order...

    dinosaur jr - farm

    shafiq husayn - en'a-free-ka

raekwon - only built for cuban linx ii

    sleigh bells - sleigh bells

    kurt vile - childish prodigy

japandroids - post-nothing (pity they have the WORST NAME EVER)

    falty dl - love is a liability/bravery

    freddie gibbs - midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik

kind midas sound - waiting for you

    the xx - the xx

... and the requisite dirty projectors/animal collective/grizzly bear.

as far as compilations go, "five years of hyperdub" and "tectonic plates 2" were both essential listening. biggest disappointment was the new clipse, and the new redman and method man was probably the most pleasant surprise.
