  1. ^congrats, dude. Keep it up!

So... I fucked up my knee (85% sure it's an IT band issue) in early June, and last night was the first time I've completed a run without any pain since then. It was a relatively chill 4 miler, but i did pick up the pace in the second half and I sprinted the last hundred meters or so. Hopefully, this means I'll be able to get back into some serious mileage in the next few months.

Also, I've been running in the Saucony Hattori lately. I thought I'd try out the minimalist thing while I'm doing super low mileage. I haven't run much more than 4 or 5 miles in them, but they actually feel really good, and I haven't had any issues other than calf soreness. If you can find them for cheap, I like them because they're really comfortable, you can wear socks with them, and they're easier to get on than vibrams.

  2. I agree on 400m repeats. do a simulation of the race broken into pieces. If you can do four sub one minute laps in one workout, that means your on track to breaking four minutes.

also, maybe I'm interpreting it wrong, but dj flame seems to be implying that he could break four because he can break six minutes easily. No hate, but I doubt that. breaking four minutes is a big deal. I can break six minutes easily, but I'm still a long way away from four minutes even.

edit: jackg, how fast is your mile right now?

  3. any runners have good experience with any sorts of shirts/singlets that are ~$20-40? florida is really warm

I don't know what exactly you're looking for in a singlet, but if you're a small guy like me who likes something that's slim without being tight, I would highly recommend the Brooks Men's Distance Singlet

when I run with a shirt (which is only really for races now. Shirtless is seriously the way to go. It feels better and it means less laundry), this is my go-to singlet. I've run a couple half marathons and stuff like that in this singlet and I felt comfortable.
