  3. Does anyone know if there is a difference in chainstiching between a Union Special 56300 and the more coveted 43200G?

A local shop of mine introduced a chain stitching service, which is obviously extremely convenient. However, they advertise that they use a 56300 machine (which looks more traditional). I had never seen a machine other than the really old looking 43200G ones. Can there even be such a thing as a “better” chain stitch that something else? Perhaps more prominent roping?

I have the 20s, 40s (black)50s, 60s and had working cat heros. The best advice is to reach out to Ryo on IG/email.

Btw I’m jealous of your black 50’s!

I'm having a similar dilemma. I was pretty ready to order a pair of 50s in a 32 and I'm seeing wild variances in measurement charts at various retailers.

Seeing a 32 listed at 29.9" has me thinking I should get a size 33. I have a 32 in SC Okinawas, Eternal 811s and WH 1001XX and those all measured 31.5" on the charts I looked at. The chart on Okayama Denim has the size 33 measuring 31.5". Anyone got any practical advice or a pair to measure in the wild?

I’d recommend 33 if not 34. I’m wearing a pair of Warehouse 1001xx in size 31 (purchased raw and then cold soaked, if that matters). Perfect fit. I used to have a size 32 TCB 50’s one wash and I ended up having to bring them to a tailor to get the waist expanded ever so slightly.

If anyone is interested in a pair of Warehouse 1001xx size 32 that were raw and only warm soaked once, let me know. I should have gone for one size smaller I’m afraid. Only worn once!

Re-upping! And I have these listed on Grailed for $194 shipped, so if you’re interested, Maybe we can do $165 shipped (in the US)?

And here is the Grailed link for measurements and pics.

  7. Sorry for yet another post. I’m about to pick up a pair of raw 1001xx’s from Hinoya, but I’m unsure about sizing. I have a pair of used size 32 1001xx 15th anniversary that (I think came as one washed originally) that fit perfect. They’ve been washed a couple more times. I’m tempted to get the same size, but everything I’ve read says that raw 1001xx’s stretch completely back to raw size after time, which is a tick above 33.5”.

I would prefer to not size down because I don’t want these to be too slim, but would these get too big in the waist if I ideally don’t want them to stretch above 16.5” ?

edit: just bought a pair of size 32. Size charts seem to be different everywhere. Least risky decisions seems to be just stay with the size I already know worked once before.

Embarrassed to do this, but I’m selling off a pair of Warehouse 1001xx 15th Anniversary editions, size 32. I ended up loving the fit of these so much that in hindsight, I wish I would have paid a bit more and just got them new so I could have my own complete journey with them.

Paid $220 to get these here to America; hoping to let them go for $200 shipped or an offer reasonable enough to help me get a jump start on picking up a new pair of 1001’s. And of course I’m willing to trade plus a little cash for a darker pair of 1001’s; I’m open to most versions of 1001’s!

Sorry to repost, but if anyone was interested, I’m dropping these to $150 or best offer!

Good on you. That’s what we keep trying to tell folks rather than ask the same old question,

On a genuine note, it’s super interesting to invest time into digging into the archives and seeing how things change over time, seeing reactions to the 15th/25th anniversary drops as they are actually happening, etc. And of course a good amount of names are still posting here 10 years later!

  10. Those look INCREDIBLE. Excuse my lack of knowledge, but what’s the difference between regular and 25th 1001s? DSB treatment?

edit: Nvm. 50’s are banner denim. Turns out if you read the forum for 2 hours straight, a lot of questions get answered.

^ If you think you could go a bit slimmer, there's a pretty dark pair of the 15th anniversary 1001zxx in size 31 up on Yahoo right now for ~$85

Oooh, 31 might be too small for waist to handle :( But thanks for the heads up!

Some of the reasons people love this stuff don't hit with me, personally, but there's no way I would pay that - esp. given you indicated real issues (medical + wedding bills). These are essentially the cost of new btw and no pair of jeans is worth cutting into those types of costs one needs to deal with. They also looked routinely washed, which I wouldn't love personally.

Definitely hear you. I’m a pretty militant budgeter, so the perspective here is basically this is the last splurge purchase I could make for at least 6 months or so. My problem is that I’m also obsessive and am easily swayed by finding weird gems like 15th anniversary fabric. Fortunately, my fiancé still loves me.

In any case, I put in an aggressive offer since this guy has had them posted for so long. I can keep everyone updated on this misadventure if y’all are interested!

@specialchild if you don't specifically look for the 1001 15th, I would look for another pair of 1001. That asking price is pretty ridiculous for a pair in that condition (unless you really want the 15th anniversary pair though).

Might make them an offer they can’t refuse… hopefully they don’t block me haha.

I actually thought these were in rather good condition. Do they look over washed or something that I’m not seeing?

  15. Hey everyone, Warehouse noob here about to ask the ultimate noob question. I REALLY want to enter the 1001 world, but I could use advice on tagged waist sizing and stretch. I had a pair of TCB 50’s one wash in size 32, but that waist was a tiny bit too snug even after a month of stretch. I ended up getting the waist expanded by a tiny bit by a local denim magician.

I think I read 1001 one wash sizes similar to TCB, but can anyone confirm that? I’m debating if I need to jump to size 33 or not. I also had a size 31 LVC 505’s a while ago that fit great if that helps.

I can’t afford to buy a new pair (wedding + medical bills) so I’m hunting around for a secondhand pair, hence the sizing stress.

Hey, what the heck! Are these 50’s? I’ve never heard of double black TCBs. I need them.

  17. Odd question for everyone. My beloved pair of 50’s got their first wash the other day (gentle cycle, no spin, top load machine, air dry), and the came out with a faint yet dreaded vertical crease. It’s hard to get a good picture of it. I’ve tried ironing it out a few times, but it seems to come back after a day of wear. Any tips on how to squash this crease before it starts to set in deep? Or worse, develop fades?

  18. So, after a couple weeks of wear and stretch on my 50’s, the waist was just still a bit tight. Just the the thought of washing them hurt my hips. So I did what any sane person would do... I got the waist expanded!

Fortunately, I have a shop in my hometown of Long Beach, CA called The Academy (P.S. I’m not sponsored haha), and the owner does chainstitch hems, tapering, and even makes his own jeans. He did some sort of wizardry I still don’t understand. I needed less than an inch of space added, so I guess that was just small enough to do the expansion beneath the paper tag without screwing up the alignment of the waist too much. I also got them hemmed, so he used that excess fabric to get the job done.

So anyways, I feel like I’m taunting god or something by altering the original measurements of such a fine product, but they turned out perfect and I’m so pumped I don’t have to say goodbye to this amazing fabric. I was considering replacing these with Warehouse’s, but there’s no fabric like TCB’s.

  19. Hey everyone. I just struck out on sizing some TCB 50’s and have decided to drown my sorrows by trying a pair of 800xx. I was wondering what anyone’s experiences are with how much thr one rinse XX waist will stretch? I’m trying to size it so after stretch, the waist will sit between 16.5 and 17 inches across. Looks like 33 may be the way to go, but just wanted to confirm with the experts! Appreciate any help!

  20. Fit pics have arrived. After a day the waist hasn’t stretched as much as I was hoping. Scared to even think about washing them.

I love the loose fit of the legs, though I fear sizing up would make them too loose. Might give it another couple days, but sad these may not work out :( I wonder if a size 33 in the 60’s would be a compromise, or just got a different route and get size 32 505’s
