  1. Ms. Vilalobosososoaososoa. Or something along those lines. (:

I was friends with her on fb, until I posted about how vegans are stupid, or something about straight edge kids being losers(not that tough to give up shit you are never gonna get, like pussy), or something else. she defriended me, and yet I felt...nothing. </3

  2. Quite possibly the gayest thing ever posted in this thread, despite the generally correct message behind it

    Be the prize

let's add each other on facebook and send each other modern day poetry like "yo brah what's up" or "totally not gay just lookin' to watch the NFL draft, maybe j/o with a fellow bro, wanna cum by (lol brah) with a case of nattys?"

  3. First of all, these pics look great. I have been wondering though recently what exactly the "rangefinder mindset" or difference is from an SLR... having used the M9 what would you say that difference is? I've used fixed-lens RF's a little bit, but other than the quieter shutter/seeing a bit outside of the shooting frame I don't understand the advantage that RF's offer. These seem to be differences that would only give a small edge, and in the context of street photography. (Of course at the tradeoff of seeing exactly what you'll get).

    my background:

    i shot with a D300, mamiya RZ67pro II(studio work), and now the leica M9.

it's different in the sense that you actively shoot exactly what you see, and that you have to frame the shot first. With a normal DSLR, you can just shoot away, but at the same time it's very obtrusive. The leica is so fucking small. it's like the size of a point and shoot, except you still control the shot in the same way as a DSLR. The glass on leica is literally the best in the world(some might say hassys have the best glass but I disagree, even though the c330 is a great cam), and as a result you get really beautiful, creamy bokeh on things outside of your focal range. because it's a rangefinder, the light hitting the sensor is multiplied, to the point where shooting ISO 160 at f/2, my SS is 1/4000, and I can still be overexposed at noon.

The main thing for me is just ease of use with incredible glass. I just walked around at lunch and had a grilled cheese at this spot in seaside. I took a few pictures while I was eating/chilling, because it's so simple - there's no adjusting anything really, there's no holding a giant lens or a huge camera body, you can just shoot from the hip absentmindedly - which makes sense in digital but not so much in film anymore.

Also the images I posted are not edited except for a bit of exposure adjustment. They aren't even cropped for the most part. I just shoot, upload, and that's it. It's a different workflow experience than a DSLR, completely. I'll be shooting some modeling stuff this weekend, so we will see how that differs - but really I would say the shooting itself is like shooting with a medium format, less like a DSLR.

  4. I dropped 250K today (it's okay, it's part of an options play) so I went home to eat some pasta with an eggplant marinara sauce, except when I opened my tupperware it was actually chicken cacciatore, and I ate it anyways, sadly.

  5. oh god, you guys watch movies? ugh, I only look at antique flipbooks, en francais. movies are like, sooooo played out. I find flipbooks to have a better, you know, visual aesthetic that movies just can't capture, which is why I collect flipbooks and sometimes I just totally let myself get immersed in their vision of reality. try doing that with one of your "movies". pshhhhh

  6. idk I hate/think its weird/wtf social networking smh

how like women can see you all of the time in real life. For example walking around campus, but wont say anything to you. Then send you a friend request on facebook so they can lurk your ass.

I deny those requests. why am i gonna let someone into the oscar award winning picture that is my life for free? 11 bucks up front, 15 for imax tru 3d.

  7. when people talk about "fb game" I wish they understood that's all it is. a game. It's not going to go anywhere. just be a fucking human being, and treat the other person like a human being, and talk to them in real life, like, you know, looking at their face and stuff, as if the first thought on your mind was not fucking them in the back of a 1965 shelby cobra GT500KR. how fucking hard is that?

all shot with Leica M9, 50mm summicron f/2 while wandering down my beach. I fucking love this camera - it really does change how I approach shooting in general, and that's amazing. I literally haven't left it at home since I bought it. I highly recommend shooting with a rangefinder if you can.

  9. ayo americans can you help me out?

how highly recognised is the GE Financial Management Program against a job at a Big 4 accounting firm?

it's terrible, as it provides no real experience outside of GE's rigorous program itself - on the other hand it does generally lead to work in the GE Financial unit, which is probably the biggest fund management group in the world. So, take the job if you really fucking love GE. You could also, you know, research the program yourself and make a decision based on your own goddamn intelligence.

After 2 years this board is still full of the same problems - whining about women, talking about "new trends", bragging about doing drugs as if that's somehow really cool. Anti-evolution, eh sufu?

  10. Supposedly nearly 1,000 math PhDs get this question wrong when it seems so simple:

Suppose you're on a game show, and you're given the choice of three doors: Behind one door is a car; behind the others, goats. You pick a door, say No. 1 [but the door is not opened], and the host, who knows what's behind the doors, opens another door, say No. 3, which has a goat. He then says to you, "Do you want to pick door No. 2?" Is it to your advantage to switch your choice?

    highlight for answer:

Yes. switching the door will increase your chance of winning the car from 1/3 to 2/3, type "Monty Hall Problem" in Wikipedia to find out.

twas in a lovely book. marilyn vos savant answered it correctly in parade magazine, and had phds writing in to tell her how dumb she was for getting it wrong.

  11. that's my current situation right now that's why I ask...

get an offer from the job you don't really want first. then go to the first and say "i think we are a perfect match for this position. however, I was already offered this much by this other company, so I am hoping that you can match or better their offer, as I'd prefer to work for you".

it's important to be up front and respectful to the company that actually interests you - telling them you are a valuable commodity is a very good idea, and certainly doesn't harm your relationship to their management. I will give an example:

we have an analyst guy in our main division that was getting paid something like 65K as of last year. He's pretty integral in maintaining our cash flow cycle with minimal breaks in AR, so I would honestly say he saves us somewhere in the range of 100-200K in interest alone, every year. Further, his relationship with the government finance side is very strong and that means he can push for us to get paid faster and preferentially with minimal effort.

He was offered something on the order of 80K by a competitor(who routinely tries to steal our employees), and he told us about it. Initially his direct superior offered him 70K with a further raise at the end of the year, which is pretty insulting considering the fact that this guy has been super loyal, does good work, and has a college degree. I stepped in and told them to bump the offer to close to 100K instead, and I personally talked to him and convinced him that we wanted him to stay with our company for a very long time. He ended up staying and netting basically a 30-40K increase in his salary, and frankly I'm glad we got him so cheap.

As long as you are not overtly trying to jack up your market value, it's always a good idea to be honest and up front about what you expect from your employer - much like in a relationship, you know?

  12. yo, it was all good. Thanks desi, for picking up her little wallet thing - she barely ever uses it so I guess she forgot.

And the meetup was pretty dope man. Food, stories, everything but the camaraderie of familiar handjobs.
