  1. The first 2 I’ve had since 1990. The second 2 are somewhere between 20-25 years old. Sorry for the creases!
  2. Here’s a better view of the Mercury parked on my street. The scratches on the door are from it being parked in a front garden that was far too narrow, hence why it’s now on the road.
  3. I’d take them to a tailor/repair place and have them patched on the inside and zig-zag sewn over the rip (from the inside or outside). If you have a sewing machine (I don’t), you can do it yourself easily enough.
  4. You should cut down the sleeves and then snip lots of long vertical cuts along the length of the sleeves to give a streamer effect (think of the curtains outside betting shop doors in the 1970s if you’re old enough).
  5. Spinal Tap jackets only go up to 11.
  6. I’m hoping to fund an early retirement!
  7. Send it back and buy my pumps. They’ll give you a hop, skip and a jump!
  8. Hmmm, if your feet have got bigger Neal, perhaps you’ll buy my size 9 Sharpeye pumps!
  9. Forget that antiquated letter nonsense John and send him a telegram.
  10. When I was (much) younger, evenings out in the pub would often end with the raging debate about which TV programme was the shittest - Rentaghost or Supergran!
  11. They look good pomata, so does the Type II. Is it a TCB?
  12. Perhaps Roy (and not Rupert Murdoch) was the inspiration behind Logan Roy?
  13. I’ve been wearing those SC Okis you tipped me off about on eBay, with the remains of a red tab. That was back in 2015 too! They’re due for a repair soon so I’ll wash em and post photos once I change over to the summer jean rotation. How time flies…
  14. I recently dug this pair out of my hoard of shame to be my spring/summer footwear of choice once the good weather eventually arrives. I saw the receipt in the box (from Superdenim.co.uk) and realised I bought them in 2015! Anyway, Japanese made PF Flyers, hopefully they’ll be as robust as the black pair I had.
  15. I don’t know why Roy’s getting so much flak here. He made good products, seems to be articulate and has a sense of humour. One person had a negative exchange with him, possibly because Roy saw his products as artisanal and didn’t think they should be abused. It’s the customer’s choice what they do with their own clothing BUT if Roy sells direct, then I suppose he can choose who he sells to (unless it’s in breach of regulations relating to discriminatory practices I imagine!). I think Roy knows his brand well and that a rude email wouldn’t damage it or create a backlash, others have had good experiences with him. His business principles seem sound, unlike WH Ranch (pay now and wait 10 years) or CSF (jump through these hoops and sign a dodgy agreement not to resell your jeans). NOTE: I’ve just picked these brands from hearsay on the forum and have no direct experience of either. EDIT: I totally understand @shredwin_206’s annoyance and would probably feel the same way if it was me but I also understand why Roy might have felt like he did (although I don’t believe that justified his response) and don’t think it makes him a bad person. I’m such a fence-sitter. Ouch! Those splinters…
  16. Your opinion is not uneducated at all, you probably have better knowledge than most on this forum and I know you have good experience of quite a few brands over the years. As you say it’s just personal preferences.
  17. I picked up this unusual deadstock raw pair from Yahoo auctions last month and have discussed them a little with @beautiful_FrEaK but they’re still a bit of a mystery. They’re Orizzonti era, pre-1998 and although the weight is unknown, I’d say about 13.5oz. They have a paper patch and rounded front pocket rivets (with varying degrees of oxidisation) with aluminium backs and no coin pocket selvedge, which I think indicates a 66 style. But they also have a v-stitch, hidden rivets and offset belt loop, which are more commonly found on XX models, so adds to the confusion and makes them something of a hybrid pair. They also have red selvedge! Measurements (BiG style), size 32: Waist - 33” Front rise - 12.25” Back rise - 16.5” Thigh - 14” (yes, 14!) Inseam - 39” Hem - 9” Colour is a little light in the photos.
  18. I’m using Sufu as context here I suppose Neal and those are the three brands that spring to mind in terms of interest/cult/hype, call it what you will. I think back in the Denimbro days, Mister Freedom releases were similarly anticipated, although their vast product range differentiated them a bit. I don’t think LVC falls into this category here despite their recent attempts to justify ridiculous prices for limited edition Cone Mills models that they now seem to bang out on a regular basis! I also think that perhaps one person’s enthusiasm is another person’s hype.
  19. I’ve never had them either and wouldn’t jump on the hype train BUT his jeans looks very good - well thought out designs, some nice unique and quirky touches, a sense of humour, carefully selected denim (that was sometimes custom made), faultless construction and custom made hardware, patches, etc. On top of all that, I think Roy communicated his products well on his website. We all know that some of these smaller brands generate a lot of interest, develop a cult following and, unfortunately hype, e.g. CSF, Ooe. Alas, that’s the nature of the beast. Out of those three though, I’d choose Roy.
  20. I’ve experienced sanforized denim that shrinks 2-3” in length on first wash but very little elsewhere.
  21. “Just grab him by the seconds hand!”
