  1. Apparently, Superdry isn’t as cool as it used to be although I don’t know when that was anyway 🤣
  2. The following models have the thin X on the patch according to photos in that Lightning Denim Book. There may be others but the photos are too small to tell: Tokyo Kyoto 1988E new 505 new WW2 15th anniversary 606
  3. Also, the thin ‘X’ on the patch rather than the thick, outline ‘X’ that represents XX models indicates that they’re not a 66XX pair doesn’t it? I hope that makes sense 🫠
  4. That’s a great catch Tilmann, they’re in amazing condition. I had to refer to an old Lightning Denim Book from 2006 to find a picture of them! Did the listing describe them accurately?
  5. ^ 15th anniversary pair from 2003?
  6. I’m surprised no-one has snapped up these W33 Kyotos for an attractive price. I can’t quite tell from the photos but they look nearly new.
  7. Wow! @vIGGiou riou they really are fast faders, that’s incredible progress.
  8. @Broark you could always spend some reflective time alone in the wilderness, like John the Baptist, or Aaron Rodgers.
  9. With the recent chat about ONI in the Unknown Japanese Brands thread, I thought I’d post these deadstock Oni Reds for sale on Yahoo auctions. I think they’re the ones that BiG used to sell about 15 years ago, alongside the Blues (both now discontinued) and are a wider, vintage cut, unlike most of their modern offerings. They may interest someone on here.
  10. Congratulations @Geeman, is your new job something similar to your old one? Congrats too @Broark!
  11. Oni thread - all the way back on pg 5. I quite liked them years ago when BiG sold the Oni Red and Oni Blue models but haven’t given them a second thought since. BS United is a pretty funny title though! 🤣
  12. ^ I’d say it probably depends on the quality, type and thickness of leather used on the patch (I’m sure @Duke Mantee and others here can give a more informed view) but from my experience I wouldn’t go higher than 60°. Anything higher and you can turn the denim bland too - boil-washed jeans!
  13. I think he may still be around but not active under a different username
  14. @MJF9 has one, not sure which fabric or size though.
  15. The Eternal Type II (if you can still find one) is a modern cut with longer body and sleeves and fantastic denim.
  16. ^ That I really don’t know mate, hopefully someone who does can chime in.
  17. The lack of a red tab on your jeans or any Sugar Cane items manufactured post-2006ish is almost certainly for ‘other’ reasons. I’m sure you’re playing with us here @MJF9 😆
  18. Who bought the 43s then? Shredwin?
  19. I’d send them back and ask for a new pair.
  20. Regardless of the intercontinental price differential, what do owners of the new SC WW2 garments think? How do they compare to CSF for example, which have (price and sales policies aside) been held in high regard by many on here for their attention to detail and period accuracy, etc?
  21. ^ I’m not sure the Amazon example is relevant here. Many of us buying clothes from Japan do so (directly or via a proxy) from brick & mortar shops there, where we can assume staff are paid a fair wage and treated well. We do so because we want to pay a reasonable price for jeans without a mark-up (in the UK at least) that often doubles the Japanese domestic price. This may be caused by higher rents, staff costs, taxes, etc but as a rational economic being, I also want value and don’t have an unlimited budget. I would never pay £600 for a pair of jeans, no matter how courteous the shop staff are or how well-curated their Instagram content is. Remember too, that these shops also conduct a portion of their business online, so is it better to buy online from a domestic retailer rather than directly from Japan? I do support not buying from Amazon as they pay badly, do not have a great reputation for employee welfare and seek to avoid paying taxes where possible. I also like to support brick and mortar stores, but there is a significant difference between paying £10 for a book in a shop rather than £5 on Amazon compared to paying £350-£400 for a pair of jeans from a UK store rather than £175-£200 via importing from Japan. I’m not criticising shops like CC and SoaS but just explaining why I choose to shop elsewhere.
  22. I don’t think this is the case. I think they have an idea what they’re buying but somehow don’t realise it’s available much cheaper with a bit of research. I know a couple of people who’ve paid SoaS prices and they’ve been the folks that have got into Japanese denim, etc and assumed that high prices from the handful of shops they were aware of were the norm. I imagine that once they dig a bit deeper and fall into the sort of wormholes we live in, then they may discover the strange world of proxies, Yahoo Auctions and sending Google translated emails to shops like e2nd, etc to take advantage of Japanese domestic prices.
  23. ^That is exactly the conundrum I wrestle with.
