what i dont get is... if that light in the cave is so important why wait until 2 episodes before the SERIES FINALE to introduce it?
im not even going to bitch about how they didnt answer "questions" or "mysteries."
my biggest complaint is that the ending seems really arbitrary and at the same time it renders all the previous seasons into meaningless bullshit. and by meaning, im not referring to some profound philosophical-religious type of shit (why anyone would want to look for this in a TV show is beyond me). instead, im talking about the narrative in general. honestly, did we really need 6 seasons to arrive at this cavern of light? it's not like they explained what it is at the end or that somehow watching the previous seasons allowed us to understand its nature at all.
the moment that i realized that this show is bullshit happened in season 6 when Jack and Hurley find Jacob's lighthouse. Hurley says something about wow how come we never saw this before? and Jack responds i guess we didnt look hard enough or some shit like that... really? fuck man come on.
i dont really have a problem with the whole afterlife thing. we've seen ghosts since season 1 and their implications of an afterlife should come as no surprise. the show was always spiritual/supernatural. what i do have a problem with is the actual narrative in "reality."
any narrative presented in any medium has to have some logical flow. i mean it doesn't matter whether you mix-up timelines and all that shit, but the fact is that it all comes together in the end. but Lost somehow arrived at an ending that seems completely detached from the previous seasons.
it's like this: Lost season 1,2,3,4,5,6 up to episode before "Across the Sea" has somewhat of a consistent flow (it has its gaps and holes but i was willing to overlook them). then the show hits us with the whole Jacob/MiB backstory bullshit episode ("Across the Sea") where they first introduce to the audience the MOST IMPORTANT THING ABOUT THE ISLAND AKA THE LIGHT AKA THE "HEART OF THE ISLAND." this is like the episode or two before the series finale. there is an obvious gap in the narrative created by introducing such a thing so suddenly at the end, and the show never tries to explain it to bridge that gap.
with that said, i will always like the show. however, i cant say its finale gave me any sense of closure to the narrative as a whole. i mean if you approach the show with the whole "it's about the journey not the goal" kind of mindset, then you might have a different idea than me about the show.
but think of it this way: THE GOAL TOTALLY FUCKED UP THE JOURNEY. like i said, the fucking ending turns the entire journey that spanned 6 years into something that is entirely arbitrary, since it pretty much had nothing to do with how the show ended. so im not sure how those people can still value the journey over the goal.
i will still miss watching Lost though. i will admit im frustrated, but i think it's better than me feeling completely ambivalent towards the show.

all the shit seems so forced and completely arbitrary.
yeah let's put a light in a fucking cave but we will never explain what it is or how it works so people can still "interpret" the show.
yeah let's refer back to season 1 and try to make some bullshit connection so people think we knew all long what we were doing.
i think what jacob and MIB's fake-mom said to their real mom essentially summed up what the writers think about this show and its audience:
"asking more questions will just lead to more questions. you should rest."
im disappointed.
seriously, what the fuck does a fucking light in a cave have ANYTHING to do with the last 5 fucking seasons. really this is what it comes down to? that donkey-wheel shit they showed today was just weak. wasn't even much of an explanation.
not even a hint of that shit and just bam: ball of light in a cave. and it turns people into smoke monsters... but we wont explain to you how that works. it just does.
fuck you.

i hate how it seems like im the only one who still has finals.
all these facebook status updates about being finally done/summer plans and shit are so depressing.
i also hate that most of my exams are papers this semester... tests are something you can just get over after that exam date, but papers just loom over you for like a week until 2 days before it's due when it starts fucking your head. fuck.

there is this super-hot redhead girl in one of my classes. and next to her sits this ridiculously cute brunette. they are both like model tall and the brunette's ass is so right. they always come to class together, sit together, leave together. i thought they were best friends.
i just found out they are a lesbian couple.
mind = blown.
im going to try my best to focus on my final exam for that class on monday but im not sure i can.

^Locke isn't the only one who died on the island, there was a whole team of mercenaries for one thing...but he didnt take over their body.
and im certain thats not how it works.
in order for him to have a body, the dead body must come to the island, as was the case with jack's father and locke.
im pretty sure he cant take over bodies of people who died on the island. one can make the argument that he showed himself as Alex to Ben in that temple, but it wasnt a physical body.
The whole time Jin and Sun were in that sinking sub while she was telling him to go over and over, I could only think, why didn't either of them mention their now parent-less child????exactly what i was thinking. i was kind of expecting sun to tell jin that he should go take care of their kid.

I was wondering about the C4 thingBut I think its plausible that flocke assumed Jack would end up in the sub, he more or less knew that the sub would be guarded and whitmores guys would ambush him, it wouldnt be difficult to have someone get shot, and jack would have rushed to help them
i mean yeah thats plausible but it's still a huge assumption on Flocke's part. in general, there were plenty of times when no one got shot in a shoot-out in the show. im just saying for a guy who is supposed to have some cleverly organized "plan," his shit seems to have too many holes and assumptions which the show just glosses over.
and yes MIB has the ability to "absorb" memories of the ppl he takes over. but still... to assume that Locke, a fucking box-salesman, knew how to make a timed c4 bomb is too farfetched IMO. yeah he was into that whole hunter-gather shit but come on.
im probably being too particular, but i expected more from this last season. the whole good vs evil thing is so cliche and i cant help but feel that most of us have been jerked around the last 5 seasons only to arrive at this shit. it was basically all build-up for 5 seasons and this "climactic" situation we find ourselves in the last season just seems so arbitrary.

i doubt they are ever gonna explain that whole zombie-mode sayid was in....
and that whole c4 shit seems so random.
1st of all how the hell does some guy who is supposedly centuries old and spent that entire time on a fucking island (flocke) know how to make a timed bomb....
2nd so flocke just assumed that someone will get shot and that jack would actually go in the sub (which he really didnt want to) and that he will open his backpack trying to find some medical kit to help the person who got shot?
what the hell? i mean the timer said 3 minutes or something when they first saw the bomb. what if no one got shot and jack didnt open the bag until idk 40 minutes into the ride? then flocke's plan fails and everyone goes home am i right? so flocke just assumed all that shit was gonna happen to play it out his way? show has made a lot of holes and assumptions lately.
