Fleurs De Bagne was the code name for French prisoner tattoos from the early 20th century and takes its inspiration from military and maritime work wear from the same period. We are truly happy to introduce FDB to our stores for SS19.

The brand feeds into a strong history of rebellion and revolution. Its love of beautiful fabrics, hand-dyeing with indigo and sub-cultural reference is imaginative and evocative and truly delights in this digital age. All garments are proudly made in France.

 

‘Le Falot’ is a heavy duty 100% cotton waterproof waxed jacket in a wonderful forest green with a camel lining sourced from Millerain, British experts in waxed canvas fabrics. Raglan shoulder, storm flapped upper back, high neck with throat latch and reinforced elbows make this a superlative element battling piece.

 

The Tataouine shirt is inspired by a French prisoner shirt worn in the 1920's/30's.

This pullover, pea-collared shirt is available in two iterations. One comes in a camel, water repellent cotton fabric by Millerain, whilst the other in a 100% linen fabric which boasts the unmistakable variations in tone that can only be achieved by hand dyeing with indigo. This is classic yet unique styling.

Inspired by an old vintage boxing sweater "Le Cogneur" literally translates as "troublemaker". This is another beautiful example of hand dyeing techniques. The relaxed cut and raglan short sleeve deliver the punch to this piece.

Bringing the traditional tattoo designs to life are the tubular knit T-shirts. Supremely soft ecru tone cotton and original artistry make the ‘Beaux Rêves’ and ‘Eagle’ real statement T’s.

Five years ago we took our passion-project online business and rebuilt it—out of brick and mortar—in Central London. In tandem, we built a community whose obsession with the very best of luxury menswear has established us as one of the most unique independent clothing stores in the capital with a reputation for quality and service that we are truly proud of.

This Saturday 23rd March we will open the doors to our second store—in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. This has been a dream of ours for some time and on a wet autumnal afternoon last year we found the perfect location at 59 Thomas Street. We are excited to be able to bring the best in denim, leather, jewellery, and shirting that the world has to offer to this great Northern city rich with its own heritage and strong cultural identity. We look forward to putting faces to well-known names as well building a new community of equally passionate customers.

In a few weeks’ time we will hold a proper opening party at the store and will send out details in due course. But the shop doors open 10 am this Saturday. We look forward to meeting old friends and making new ones.

A commando sole and antique leather midsole in stitchdown construction form the foundation for the Tobacco Chamois Roughout Service Boot. The leather's heavily oiled finish gives a great depth to the low maintenance, element protected, hide from Horween.

The Mocha Oil Tan Roughout Scout Boot is just as durable and equally versatile. The Vibram 2060 sand sole and 360 natural storm welt construction provide the platform for this unique build. Originally based on the pattern for a 1950’s logger boot, the super rich and deep Oil Tan rough out leather oozes texture and depth of colour and will develop a great patina with wear.

The vulcanisation experts at Moonstar continue to provide all weather solutions in a casual styling with the introduction of the Court Shoes. They take their cue from the Gym Classics and add an extra layer of rubber encircling the shoe. A more padded and cushioned heel and ankle provide a distinct yet subtle skate styling. Available in white and green.

Navy makes a welcome addition to the Gym Classic range, which has been restocked in black and white. Also back in are the ever popular all-weather in khaki.

The Explorer jacket from RGT comes in a waxed, deep olive 8 oz. US canvas. Clean lines and a raglan shoulder set the style, whilst a removeable hood along with dual handwarmer/gusseted pockets provide the function. Designed to work just as well on the streets as in the backwoods, water resistant and windproof, this is truly a piece for transitioning the seasons.

 

For a lighter weight option the Drifter jacket comes in a classic olive camo. Showing a texture all its own, the 100% cotton Japanese sateen fabric bridges the shirt/jacket gap comfortably. It comes  with curved hem, reinforced elbows and a horn button double placket closure.

 

New to the scene are RGT’s Boarder pants. Designed to be worn as your comfy pants, the Boarders sacrifice nothing in style to provide this, in fact quite the opposite. Available in either a technical lightweight, 100% cotton, resin finished ripstop or a 9 oz. 2x1 weave indigo neppy denim. 3sixteen are fully on point with 3 shirts, all constructed with custom Japanese fabrics and perfect for layering.

 Making use of their renowned ‘crosscut’ rear yoke styling, the lightweight check flannel comes in an amazing blend of cotton and rayon. Brushed, supersoft and super smooth this offers a unique and winning material for a flannel shirt. Pure comfort.

 

The two new button down short sleeve shirts provide a great mix of cut, styling and pattern detail. Both feature a chest pocket, foldover placket and cuff and textured Japanese Urea buttons.

Rivet & Hide is opening up North! Over the last 7 years, we have evolved from an online store to a bona fide, brick-and-mortar shop. For 5 years, our London store has become a destination for rare denim and classic casual wear of unsurpassed quality for locals and out-of-towners alike. So we’re happy to announce that in March we’ll be opening our second store in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.

 
The Northern Quarter is a proud nod to Manchester’s rich heritage and strong, cultural identity. We honestly can’t think of a more fitting place to set up shop. 3sixteen hit the streets 15 years ago with its unique take on menswear. In recognition of this milestone an extremely special commemorative piece has been commissioned with the 3sixteen x Schott Roughout Perfecto Jacket.
 
Schott supplied the fit and construction, basing the pattern on their classic 519 Perfecto. Horween stepped up to supply the most amazing veg-tanned roughout cowhide which is full grain, waxed and dark as night. The heavy duty hardware is tonal enhancing the clean lines of the design, with one perfect exception – the rear press stud which is a celebratory spark from the silversmiths at Good Art Hlywd in .925 sterling.

Lined inside with 100% jet black linen and natural leather branded patch this is a stunning realisation of the levels 3sixteen is now reaching. A genuinely limited edition that will put the ultimate final touch to any outfit smart or casual.

Rogue Territory has delivered with a new iteration of its 16.75 oz. slub denim. These arrivals are a deep indigo, achieving their depth of colour by utilising indigo dyed threads for both the warp and weft. Forerunners and trailblazers of Japanese ‘Ametora’, Studio D’Artisan has an unrivalled reputation for producing everything from impeccably made basics through to unique, luxury leather pieces. We’re excited to now carry this legendary brand.

We have to start with a really special piece, in the shape of the Split Steerhide jacket. Cut to a Type II pattern, this jacket is fully lined and is constructed with a 1.2mm, tan split steerhide – this is a superior cut of leather to standard suede and has an initial stiffness that softens and moulds to the wearer. This is one of those pieces that has a genuine ‘heft’ obvious before you even pick it up.

We also start our SDA journey with the blanket lined denim jacket which takes its inspiration from the classic 101 riders jacket . The warmth of this piece belies the lighter weight, although there is no doubting the sturdiness of the construction. Details include Japanese blanket lining, corduroy collar, cast metal placket buttons and resin waist cinches to the rear.

For jeans, we have two signature pieces in the SD 103 and SD 107. The 103 is a great example of a true regular, straight cut, while the 107 is a slim cut with a decent taper to the hem.

Both use an unsanforised 15 Oz. denim made from a unique blend of American and Australian cotton and both come with all the admired detailing that makes up SDA. Selvedge fly, hidden selvedge to the coin pocket, heavy duty duck pocket bags and SDA branded rivets and buttons all come together to make what is clearly the highest level of denim construction.

We also had to get involved with one of their special ‘off piste’ releases with the Fox 001. Named after Sally Fox who developed this particular strain of organic, long stapled cotton used in the weft that retained colour without the need for dye, this is environmentally friendly and consciously non synthetic in every way.

Coming in at 15 Oz, these have a relaxed, yet slim cut through the top block and thigh and a strong taper to the hem. Completed with a navy selvedge line, dual colour signature arcuates, herringbone pocket bags and a pony hair patch with fox motif.

No arrival from SDA would be complete without some representation from their renowned loopwheeled fabrics. They do this so well and use Tsur-Ami loopwheelers to produce a tightly woven, heavyweight and textured sweat.The inside is triple-brushed for extra warmth and comfort. It may come as a surprise to those new to 3sixteen or more familiar with the brands sharp cuts and forward thinking styling, that these guys have their roots firmly in the skate and streetwear scene. Never ones to lose sight of where they came from whilst forging ahead, this winters drop really shows how 3sixteen have evolved and refined their concept. 

The star of the show is without doubt the Panama Cloth Stadium Jacket. The very definition of smart streetwear, 3sixteen have taken their classic stadium jacket, using its popular trimmer cut and next levelled it with an indigo construction.

The outer fabric is a 15oz. Italian Panama cloth weave. This heavy cross weave that has been dyed with  double indigo (warp and weft) reveals different depths and textures throughout with lighter and darker tones that really pop. The inside is insulated and quilted, while heavyweight varsity ribbing to collar, hem, hand warmer pockets and cuff complete this exceptional piece.

The indigo dyed hoodies elevate the current "athleisure" trend to unexpected heights of sophistication. They utilise a super neppy heavy fleece fabric and are comfy and casual with side panelling to maintain the neat silhouette. Everything Nine Lives creates provokes wonder and disbelief. Fabrics you never knew existed, mainly because they didn’t until Nine Lives dreamt them up. Unique cut and designs, that while stunning and different, just make sense. The two latest arrivals exemplify just that, even down to the pure escapism of their names.

The Kalamazoo sashiko shirt bridges the gap between shirt and jacket with ease. Neatly tailored with a flattering cut through the body, the 18 Oz. sashiko fabric is the result of 3 ‘fabric scientists’ collaborating under 9L guidance to create this utterly next level weave.

The resulting material is then put through a traditional green cast Aizome process (indigo dyeing), producing a depth of colour that just draws you right in. Every detail is considered; from the gentle slope of the chest pockets, to the articulated bellows shoulders and blackened YKK sunburst press studs. We never knew a shirt could be made like this, but are we glad it was.

Taking a dual layer approach, the ‘Double Face’ is a dual-layered, 2 ply knit employing binder threads to mesh the two layers together. The front face is knitted with indigo threads whilst the inner layer is knitted with grey, giving the unique two colour aspect. Next up we have an intensely soft and warm wool blend, which allows for some great construction and shaping to keep out wind and draughts while also providing a fluffy inner surface of unsurpassed comfort. The two versions include the crew neck sweatshirt with extra high waist and wrist ribbing, both of which are woven in contrasting directions to prevent rucking up and movement and the Military Crew Henley with a 3 button flat placket, ribbed sleeves and exposed seams.

Denim jackets in 18 Oz. selvedge denim and double indigo have landed in both Type II and Type III styles. This fabric really has to be felt to be believed - soft and flexible, comfortable yet strong. This is a denim that will last and last, while the deep indigo gradually yields to the lighter shades underneath.

For shirting, we have the impeccably shaped and skilfully tailored western flannel. A comfortable mid-weight option, these 100% cotton flannels have been yarn dyed and cut with a subtle western styling. Shaped pockets, shoulder panel and rear yoke are all complemented with gusset straps, chain stitch run-offs and tarnished stud fastening. Available in 3 unique colourways : Indigo x Grey, Indigo x White & the reverse Grey x Indigo.

The last new material sees the brand opened up to the ladies. Using a 12 Oz. cotton blend indigo denim with just the right amount of stretch, the 1069 jeans  are cut with a very flattering slim taper and come with all the Pure Blue Japan standards - Iron buttons, lambskin patch, chainstitch hem and embroidered Shoai leaf to the rear pocket.

One of the most exciting new season arrivals is full of surprise, hidden details and classic designs reimagined for a modern age. This can only be an introduction to the wonderful world of Mister Freedom.

The Cowboy Jacket, Embroidered 301 Okinawa edition is milled in Japan, and the custom fabric at 16.25 Oz. is a left hand twill. Comprising of 50% recycled Okinawan sugar cane fibres and 50% cotton, this denim is unique to both the hand and eye, not to mention renowned for the depth of fading. The ‘Rodeo’ iteration carries a definite 60’s halcyon vibe, enhanced by the 100% rayon embroidery which adorns the rear and really carries it to the next level and beyond.

One of the sturdiest and most unique shirts we have ever stocked comes in the form of the ‘San Pablo’ CPO. It is named after the American gunboat in the classic ’66 film ‘The Sand Pebbles’ starring Steve McQueen which patrols the Yangtze River circa 1926.

The design is inspired by western military wear which would frequently be repaired and (rebelliously against forces regulations) customised by local tailors. Hence, 100% rayon dragon embroidered ‘Liberty Cuffs’ - a hidden adornment inside the cuffs, concealed rainbow chainstitch, hidden chest pocket and contrast reinforcement patches. More regulation details are included with the vintage uniform reinforced shoulder yoke and USN anchor buttons. Really out of this world in every way.

The general appearance of the Rough Rider Blouse will be familiar to any MF aficionados, based as it is on their classic trucker style. This season's version comes in a 15.5 Oz. New Old Stock Cone Mills denim from the late Cone Mills in Greensboro, NC.

The collar has been modified to more closely resemble an early American work blouse, the underside of which is lined with the ‘Okinawa’ sugar cane fabric. The interior has been lined with a discharge printed, Japanese plaid flannel which has been brushed for warmth and comfort.

Another Iron Heart cold weather classic that is the ‘Ultra Heavy Flannel’. Loomed to a super solid 12 Oz. using wild, Peruvian Aspero cotton, the resulting fabric is brushed once on the outside face and twice on the inner for a super soft and insulating garment. The cut, size and styling of these is absolutely on point and now back in the always popular Ombré weave and available in classic red or grey.

Perfectly showcasing Good Art's ability to add functional movement to what are traditionally static pieces, the Lasso Chain uses the larger of its two Rosette disks as an adjustment method to control the length of the chain. Utterly unique.

There are plenty of opportunities for some new wrist action, including the ‘Jack Skull Crusher’ bracelet, where every link is a perfectly formed, miniature skull. The new FW18 range from 3sixteen is released today. As always with this style forward NY brand, we have some sharp, modern silhouettes complimented with timeless detailing.

The slim cut Stadium Jacket returns in a sleek charcoal grey. An equal amount of consideration given to function as well as form: The outer is an 8 oz. waxed cotton canvas, the inner a thick and quilted jersey padded with Thermolite for insulation without bulk. Trimmed with a heavyweight ribbing to the hem, collar, cuffs and hand warmer pockets, this jacket is truly ‘weather ready’.

The ‘Crosscut’ shirt has developed an enviable reputation since its introduction nearly ten years ago. Named after the signature crossed back yoke, this season brings us red and slate blue plaid iterations in a heavy, Japanese flannel. Woven on a low tension which delivers a coarser, textured hand, the inner face has been triple brushed for warmth and comfort, while the outer face is left unchanged to best present the weave.

Pure Blue Japan has just delivered 3 new shirts for the autumn season.
One of the best fitting shirts yet from PBJ is the Indigo Sashiko. The lightweight fabric is made of  98% cotton and 2% polyurethane. This savvy blend enhances the overall fit of the shirt giving it a slight stretch, whilst also acting to reinforce
the looser, sashiko weave. It is yarn dyed indigo and will show signs of fade with wear. The shirt features resin buttons and Chian-stitched side seams, with run off.

The Double Gauze shirts have returned after a long absence and are as ultra soft and minimalist in style as ever. This is a two layer woven fabric that gives a blanket lining effect. The Indigo version is woven using rope dyed indigo weft whilst the warp is dyed black. The black version uses a black warp and grey weft.

The Nihon Menpu denim mill uses the finest long staple cotton the US has to offer.  Stevenson does the resulting 14 oz. green line selvedge denim justice with subtle, yet unique pattern stitching accents to both the rear and coin pockets, offset folded belt loops and a smart, slim tapered cut. The stitching details are as impressive as always as Stevenson uses a rare narrow gauge lap seam. The denim comes sanforized.

Along with the jeans we have a full size restock of the Quartermaster chinos in both khaki and indigo. These are some of the best fitting chinos we have seen and are in the original, heavyweight chino weave fabric.

UES might not be the first name that jumps to mind when thinking of heavy flannels. However, they are able to create the heavyweight fabric thanks to their access to an original Schoenherr weaving machine. The result is a brushed cotton both extra thick and extra soft. With a neat, slim silhouette, these shirts come with chain stitched body seams and ivory palm nut buttons. Available in either a toned down navy or a more vibrant red.

The Flat Head is well known for constantly raising the bar and pushing both craftsmen and materials to explore the limits of what can be achieved.  This ethos is perfectly demonstrated by their latest range of wallets which are really quite something to behold.

The three options are hand-sewn in Japan and all include a solid, sterling silver, engraved chain ring and leathers sourced from Japan's Shinki tannery.

Firstly, a mid length, tan cowhide which has an internal zip coin pocket. Secondly, a sumptuous bi-fold using Shell Cordovan leather polished and shiny on the exterior whilst the interior presents a softer matte finish. These have a tab closure coin pouch and come in either a rich, deep brown or black.

The piece de resistance, however is the quite frankly astounding; a tall wallet that eschews the standard straight lines for gentle, elegant curves which match up perfectly on each side. This is craftsmanship of the highest degree. Made from beautiful cut of Shinki Shell Cordovan.

This is a 100% cotton fabric woven in Japan and the shirt features two chest pockets, selvedge cut on the placket and crosscut back yoke. This garment can be layered but is hefty enough to be worn as a jacket.

Schott NYC’s ‘Perfecto’ brand's P571 Café Racer is a unique iteration of a stone cold classic. It comes in a smooth, waxed black cowhide with tonal hardware and detailing throughout. Unlined, this jacket gives a tactile, up close and personal feel when on. It is clear that age and wear are going to lend an amazing patina to this leather as it shapes and moulds with its owner.

Momotaro Jeans has  come through with some great shirting in perfect tones for the autumn. Available in either olive or grey, the selvedge twill shirt is impeccably cut with a trim silhouette and a cutaway collar, making this a spot on solution to the ‘what is smart casual’ conundrum. The fabric is a super-soft 95% cotton and 5% wool mix which feels really comfortable against the skin.

For a more worker oriented, vintage option there is the chambray 100% cotton stripe shirt. Keeping the same slim cut as their casual counterparts, this version features a more classic styling with point collars and a stitched Wabash stripe.
