Can someone recommend me some raw denim jeans? I'm liking for something that will fade nicely. So far my only experience with dry denim is Academi and Levi 501 STFs. I'm looking for something with at least a 36" inseam that I can get with a 30" waist. I wear size 32 Academi's but my waist has shrunk recently, they don't fit well at all. I'm drawn to Skulls at the moment, but I mostly just want some nice dark denim that will fade well. Thank you.
Imperial dukes have a 38 inch inseam

Waist: 36.5" (already tight, but ok)
Inseam: 38"
Too tight for a soak?!
I want to manage a real slim fit here - pain included, if necessary!
Note: Reports on up to 3" of stretch in the waist after few days of wear!
Should I remove the arcs before or after the soak? :-)
When I got my 1001's, they were a little tight around the waist. It was a struggle to get the top button buttoned, but with a little effort I could. After a 40 minute hot soak, the second to the top was difficult and the top was impossible. After a week of off and on wear, they stretched out to a "comfortable" state. Now at 3 weeks, I have about an inch to spare and they sag a little. Overall, I would say they stretched 2 inches after the soak.

I think you should have waited for those better pics.

not many pictures yet, i'll take some, but since working in the Formula SAE shop for the past two months my lvc's are absolutely trashed. i love it.
haha same, I had a nice brown tinge to my levi's after some sanding/grinding sessions.

I'm new to raw denim and wanted to try these out before I move on to more expensive jeans. Just wondering about soaking and putting these in a dryer to shrink before I wear. Does using the dryer have any negative effects on the fading possibilities?
i soaked them, and put them in the dryer and here they are after 4 months of real wear, had them for 6 months
Sorry for the shitty pictures. I'll post up more after I wear them for another month (might take a while though since I'm wearing my flathead 1001's now)

Here are my 501 STF's. These were my first ever raw denim. Worn almost everyday for 8 months. Washed 6 times. I've moved on to Flat Head F380's.
Any fit pics?

Does anyone have Flatheads and ride a bike a lot?...I just picked up some 1001s from SE and I absolutely love them, but there is an awkwardly strip of wear from my saddle seat. I've only been wearing them for about 2 weeks and is SUPER worn. Should I be wearing these while biking every day. I am scared its going to look like a bright white stripe down my asscrack transitioning to my "taint" region.
I'm in the exact same position as you. I bought my 1001s, started wearing them while riding (2 miles to campus, couple trips a day + on campus riding so about 10 miles a day) A few mornings ago I looked down and noticed some fading on my ass so I'm a bit worried now. I guess the wear just shows what you do, but it still might look kind of awkward. Guess I'll have to stand.

Got some flathead 1001's, so decided to wash these.
Levi's 501 stf, 4 months of wear, 6 months total (wore them whenever bearable in the summer). I did an initial hot soak, cold soak at 15 weeks, then a real wash.

Just got these in the mail this afternoon. Thanks again Kiya!
And it's 30 minute warm soak, then 10 minute soak + dryer if I want them to shrink more?

Those are awesome xelph. I've been looking for my next pair and I'm stuck between imperials, samurais, flat heads, and sugar canes lol. But those definitely make me lean in a certain direction.
EDIT: wow totally thought those were samurais. sorry for the noob mistake.

Here are my 501 STF's. I picked them up on sale for 30 bucks. I have had them for four months and wore them about 15 weeks (got way too hot for jeans). They have seen about 3 miles of biking everyday and wear and tear at my university's machine shop plus random abuse.
I did an initial hot soak + dryer when I got them to shrink them all the way. I just did a cold soak, but these pictures are pre-cold soak.
