granted slapping a union made label on a pair of jeans is not very original. about as original as when freewheelers, bootleggers reunion, real/joe/toys mccoys do it and they do it all the time. we know sufuers have been hatin on those brands for a long time.
and speaking as a citizen of one of the most exploited countries in the dollar empire, dont worry, were all in the same sinking boat, indonesia and its workers are more than equally fucked over by american multinationals.
Freewheelers/ Bootleggers and Joe McCoy pieces are union made. As is Lofgren stuff, AFAIK. One of the reasons I like those companies. For historical reasons, this doesn't mean exactly the same thing as it would in the US though.

How have these not sold?

Damn robbie, those jeans are starting to look really good.
Mike's too.

Why?
The californians look good worn fairly trim, like eltopo, but one key aspect of denim pants is that you can wear them in a variety of fits.
Skinny jeans will be out of fashion again one day, as they were in the past. So wear them how you want, mvk.
I agree, and I dig the vintage fits in the picture you posted. I think non- 5-pocket-jean denim pants often look great worn this way. It's one of the aspects to them that makes them a good alternative to have in your wardrobe.
I think that kind of fit almost always looks better if the inseam is cuffed so there is no break though....it gives a nice contrast to the relaxed fit, and the whole garment hangs better as a result....if the leg is too long the silhouette can look kinda sloppy. I don't like very much break in pants in general though....others may feel differently.

Thanks for the comments and reps. As rnr pointed out you're a bunch of enablers, and I love you all for it.
Apologies for the delay in the photo documentation. I will do my best to get it together before the end of the week ...up to my eyes the last few days.
Snake...I will do measurements too......I got a size 40 and and that's also my approximate chest measurement, so I went TTS.

Three month update. Move along...nothing to see here (unless you haven't seen fre$co's).
First off....'Sup the robster!!! Thanks for the card....
Now the jeans.....these were taken a month ago and there has been a bit of development since then. 2 soaks.
A little bit of roping starting to show up on the cuffs and yoke:

Zissou....congrats and great job....I know you've been chipping away at the house for ages and you've really done a great job. I hope you get what you deserve out of it and you can go hog wild when the new MF Naval Tailor stuff comes out.
Fresco....it looks like the golden underpants ( or at least 8 pairs of chambray ones ) will be yours.
PaulT....amazing post as usual. Night trains are the absolute best way to travel. They're the last mode of transport left that has any glamour IMO....there's just something about them I love. Great pics and as roy6 said, poetic captions.
Cash....great post and beautiful place. Love the pic of the cactus flower. Can't rep:(. This Sunday, likewise. Those shoes will come in handy if next winter is anything like the last one in NYC ( I was stuck in JFK for two days at New Years...it felt like the retreat from Dunkirk).
Tg76....that canoe is beautiful...I'm excited to see it in the water.
mikecch....your posts make me feel like I've seen a good bit of Melbourne ...good stuff!
ranon.....it's great that you're staying in.We need as much food as possible in the thread.
DocBlue....that bike is amazing....it's fantastic that people are making things that cool and that there are people such as yourself around keeping them in business......it's a work of art.
DrHeech.....nice post....and you show remarkable control of the psychotic urges that I would imagine are natural in the presence of so many people playing the accursed game (whose name we will not mention).
Almostnice....the trip looks idyllic and now you know why bears shit in the woods.
Everyone else.....all great stuff ...keep it coming.

The paint is part of the story....why would you want to get rid of it?

It gets much much worse than 47's though. I haven't bought anything since the Roy's in November but I still feel really bad about it in a way....I see starving faces when I sleep...and the really terrible thing is....on one level I don't care!
I'm going straight to hell...........
But.....I had to buy it....it was the only way to make the voices in my head shut up.

Will do....lemme get some sleep first.....
edit: and thanks for the rep....it makes me feel better about what was really a fairly irresponsible act

Well...I went and did it. Apparently they may not make this colour again.

A deerskin western shirt with pearlized snap buttons would be killer.

We get quite a lot on Mesaveni in the UK, perhaps because of the historic links.
Anyone interested in his predecessors should absolutely check out The Last King Of Scotland - it's pretty convincing, while novelized, and a great film.
Agreed. It also has a fantastic soundtrack.

That was terrible. Not even funny terrible.
Screw golfers... I'm with Mark Twain.
I've always thought that golf would be greatly improved as a game if they put land mines on the courses. Would definitely watch it on TV.

Fresco and zissou....next level agricultural equipment. Must spread!
Now I'm conflicted. I still really like the blue one....but no tracks....
Maybe I can get Hukurokuju to retro fit caterpillars on it for me. I'll ask Ed.
When I lived in Berlin in the 90's some of my house mates bought and restored a Russian armoured personnel carrier which they used to drive around the neighbourhood occasionally. They were known as the "Adalbertstrasse Panzer Battalion". Being a man of peace I find the tractors much more attractive, not to mention a lot more useful.

Want blue tractor.

Yeah....I love the weave.....the "flaming " effect is great. It's distinctive but also somehow quite subtle.
It's great denim IMO. Very different than anything I have encountered from Japan.

Great posts all. Still can't rep anyone:(
I gave 'em a a soak at three months and took some shots. I'll post some of them later but in the meanwhile here's one that hopefully shows the degree of evolution of this fabric. It's a swatch of the original dry denim as against the same material after three months wear and two soaks. The difference is pretty wild IMO.

It's good that some of you are going to take some time out....in fact I encourage it

Still alive. Still wearing the Roys. Apologies for flaking.
