  1. Kiya

I have a big favor to ask you. Please dissuade that glorious fella who ordered the last RJB cordovan boots in black in size 28.0 from accepting them. A collector I was told. I intended of wearing those in the winter. Amazing boots, lucky fella. RJB cannot find a manufacturer to produce those boots once again. So this makes me more angrier. ☺

If he is a fellow forum member, hope you enjoy wearing those.

might be the funniest quote I've ever seen on here. try not to get more angrier fella. i'm sure he just wants to put them in a glass case and stare at them for eternity. i bet if you say Meka Leka Hi Meka Hiney Ho a few times Jambi might tell you who bought them...

  2. looks like a few more pictures of fit are in order. 6'1", about 180lbs, size 32 without hem. waist shrank 1.5", horizontals shrank about 0.5" each. forgot to measure inseam pre-soak, single cuff of about 2" on  unhemmed inseam post soak

apologize in advance for the lack of weekday updates but no cameras allowed where I work these days...

  3. looks like i will be the last one to receive these.. was supposed to be in tachi-machii this week but not going to happen. looks like they will arrive next there next monday and get shipped to me mid week. might be a day or two over the 01 Sept. but in 18 months it should not matter..will buy a NY times and photo as soon as i receive them.

curious what model and what customizations if any people ended up with? (might be a nice addition to the first page list)

mine are the 1922 version of the 9103xx model with exposed rivets / crotch rivet/ buckle back, the laurel wreath buttons, blue herringbone pocket bags, standard yellow / orange stitching throughout (could not help myself after these pictures..20120418122107ecd.jpg

  4. Is seattle something I should look into?

    -Relatively good weather

sorry, after living here for years you better quit right now if this factor holds any amount of weight in your decision...

think monochromatic grey for 280+ days per year.

  5. If you need more room then definitely go for the 1105.

The 1109's thigh is slightly slimmer and it has a lower rise and it's tapered.

that's actually a good question as i was just about to buy a pair of 1109's instead of the 1105's as SE site shows the 1109's having more room in the thigh area.

  6. need some more action in this thread.

just picked up a new one and am convinced again that i wont be buying anything but RJB any time soon. straying a bit from the usual repro but there is just no one doing anything like this..

    love the custom metal buttons.

    nice looking chambray, but wait...

    3c807f37.jpg?t=1305608096

not sure this picture captures this but its chambray on one side, houndstooth on the other side... thought it was a double layer gauze fabric at first but you can trace the slub black yarn through the shirt on both sides so i really dont get this one...

have a couple more in the works will post a couple more pictures when they get here.

  7. Japanese are very service-oriented, so an email before dispatch about your question should do the trick
Damn, this is great, but do all these rakuten shops send you one wash jeans? Maybe BF or someone can confirm. I ordered 0500's from pirates or vari rakuten a couple years ago and they were definitely washed..not happy.

agreed, while most shops will state raw or washed on their site those that dont are, and this is only my experience, but always willing to explain that state of their wares when asked.

also very sad, it seems like we may have to say R.I.P. to Pirates "brick and mortar" store for the time being, from what i can tell this shop was right in the disaster area in ishinomaki, i havent been able to get yuichi on phone or email to confirm but it looks like that area got hit hard. anyone hear anything PM me

  8. Also i have a rakuten/2nd question for those of you that have ordered from them. Do they take paypal? I don't see it as an option during check out. The main reason I ask is the conversion from yen to usd, I know paypal does it automatically, not sure how my credit card through my bank would handle it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Not meant to berate, this info should be pinned.

I try to keep these threads clean by ignoring the abundance of repeated questions but i feel like i need to chime in as I don't know why people insist on using paypal when rakuten has a perfectly functional international site?

Gaurentee this is easier ordering from 2nd, Search google for rakuten + borderless, make you profile, pick your language, order using credit card, it couldn't be simpler for all shops that ship international. Nothing lost in translation..

There is a time and a place for paypal but that is called the last resort..

  9. Does anybody have experience with The Flat Head's non-washed sweatshirts and if they shrink from or to tag sized?

they don't really shrink much. i have a few FH sweats and they run pretty true to measure before and after wash

  10. this thread needs some more life to it. people need to start posting RJB shirts. just got another from Hide and hands down these shirts have the most amazing fabric and perfect cut of any i have owned. of the 50 or so shirts i bought in 2010 i would gladly trade for 10-15 RJB shirts.. which is what i will do this year i guess.

just wish they were easier to find in the states..

i'll take a few macro's of the fabric when i find the camera but it has to be seen to be believed though.

  11. just to resurrect this thread

  12. Does the GX denim (earth, water, etc.) shrink/stretch an abnormal amount?

I'm looking at these for my next pair:

    http://en.item.rakuten.com/2nd/sj-s5000gx-t/

For reference, I have a pair of 21 oz Samurai 510, Lot 10, in a size 29, and they fit me just perfectly, literally perfect. I'm also thinking that a slight size-up might also be good for me, since I really like the slightly looser cut of the 510. I want something that will be no tighter than my size 30 Sugarcane Okinawa/Hawaii if that helps.

I'm thinking a 30 in the 5000GX would do it. Thoughts?

yes, i have a pair of those and wear 31 in FH380 and bought a 32 in these. size up 1 and they are the perfect slightly loose but not uncomfortable fit.

  13. I have a large music collection.. over 3000 CDs and about 2500 records. I ripped almost everything i own (rockabilly only) and put it all on an external drive. I then load up the computers at the stores and it just plays on random.

Bring a drive to the store and we'll dump some on there for you.

Looks like someone beat me to it... But I would love to see what's on that hard drive, and I'll be at VLV again this year. I'll get all my records converted to mp3 by then so maybe there will be something I can contribute...just found another Jerry lee Lewis unreleased sun records compilation

  14. Brands like Cushman and Deluxeware, at least to me, are the 'tops' experts (they do some, but not many, jeans/military/jackets/leathers) - but I haven't tried the sweaters from either company yet...maybe 2011 :)

i can vouch for deluxeware sweatshirts being top notch for the price. i dont think i have ever felt a heavy loopwheeled cotton that dense, and i have at least one of each mentioned above. as was said earlier though flathead comes in a close second in quality.

i will try and take a few pictures as i am actually home for a couple days finally
